Room 101 - Milligan's views on Portsmouth What a Hero
VectisSaint replied to monosaint's topic in The Lounge
Spike was good but even if he would struggle to entertain these days, dead comedians are not usually very funny. -
I know the average age of our team is quite low, but this is about youth football. I disagree with Henning Berg about it not being much fun to win 17-0, I remember a game when I was a kid we won something like 26-0 and I scored 6, it was great fun (I was not a prolific goal scorer). I also played in a 33-2 defeat, not much fun, but character building at least. Kids today, to much molly-coddling :-) I notice the local girls league that I used to be Secretary of now have a policy of not reporting the score if the goal difference is 10 or more, but they still record the goal scorers so you can work out the real result.

That's despite Adkins being reported this morning as having no knowledge of the incident. Is there any real basis for the Gazza loan story? Where has it come from other than the OP. Given the OP is Mr Turkish it could be ******.

Agreed, he looked fine on Sunday and was not at fault for either goal. Some people make up their minds on one viewing and thats it. Bit like with Yoshi, had poor games at RB and LB and people here now think he's poor CB, truth is he is top drawer.

Is Roy a free-agent?

Pity the LMA can't even dig out a picture of Ted. Not exactly difficult is it.

Agreed. By the way do Pompey have anything else over us? Apart from having the best fans in the world of course

Think you answered your own question there. I don't really understand why anyone cares about what he says after a match. It is refreshing not to have to listen to drivel by the likes of Ferguson or Redkrapp. I used to like WGS' sense of humour, but really nothing said in post match interviews is even slightly relevant or even vaguely interesting. I couldn't understand a word AVB said after the match yesterday (partly because he had lost his voice but also because he just mumbled). All that matters is what he does on the training ground and how he translates that onto the pitch - now there is an issue of course.

So Millwall and Brighton hate Adkins. Oh dear, how sad. Let me think for a nanosecond whether we should be concerned. Nope. Actually don't really care what any other club thinks about Adkins (as if a club can collectively think).

Looks like its just you. Enjoy :-)

Don't disagree at all, was just discussing whether he would be back or not. On the evidence so far I don't really see Ramirez adding anything defensively, but then again I never expected him to. He is an attacking midfielder and looked a bit lost tracking back. On the other hand, a team defends as one, and defending starts from the front, what GR brings is an ability to hold the ball, make things happen and hopefully create (and score) more goals, and thus take pressure off of the defence. This goes for Lee as well, apart from SRL (and I suppose AL) no-one else in the team seems able to hold the ball up, up front, and thus relieve pressure on our fragile defence. Despite some of the hype that we are good at scoring goals, our scoring rate has tailed off in the last few games, SRL has not scored for a while (this always happens to him, a few games scoring goals and then a run of 4 or 5 without a goal). I still think GR is very important to the success or otherwise of our season, and what can be seen is that he is (going to be) a world class player in the future.

Sometimes people recover more quickly than expected, the prognosis is an educated guess based on average recovery times of people with similar injuries. He has clearly been training, and reasonably hard including ball work, so must be close to a return, unless there is a setback. I suspect he will be on the bench against the Baggies based on the video evidence.

Does Lallana need dropping to give him a kick up the backside?
VectisSaint replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
What type of morons do you go to games with then? If you go with Charmless then that explains a lot. The subject of debate does not come into it, Charmless would not know a debate if it smacked him in the eye. He had a view which he cannot back up with any facts, its just absolute nonsense - there is no point debating with ********* like him. -

Can you clarify how skilful a "won drink pony" is? -
I guess thats what happens at nursery school these days. I assume you are either 3 years old or else you are well 'ard.

Some of them aren't, they come on here to make up for it. I had forgotten how bad this forum was during a match thread until yesterday, haven't done a home match thread for so long.
-
Well none of them apart from Villa and Wigan, and maybe Wet Sham.

Last year he played a bit part team for a newly promoted team in the PL (who did not get relegated) and then played 9 times for us in the 2nd half of the season. I think you seem to have missed a season. But I agree Mayuka is far better than Punch who is too inconsistent in my view.

This! Ok my view is based on Sky match choice highlights, but Fox was caught out of position and ball watchinng at least 4 times. Two of tose occassions led to their goals. The problem is that his poor defensive positioning pulls the rest of the defence across to cover for him, Yoshida with Defoe for their first a case in point. I'm quite sure that if we could solve the Lb problem we would be fine. Clyne, Fonte and Yoshi are perfectly Ok Imho. Watching the highlights we really did not look as bad as it seemed reading the remarks on here yesterday and listening to Whispering Dave. With Ramirez, Lee and Cork to come in we cohld be ok. Do we still have 1 space in the squad for a free agent?
-
I'd go further, Mayuka to start and finish. Just a thought, but when do the easy games start? WBA away, this season they have been mustard at home.

There aren't many (any?) that are just so interminably negative as Alpen, now I remember why I always go to home matches (except today), its to avoid being depressed by our little Austrian bundle of joy.

Actually they conceded 3 and still got a 2-2 draw thanks to an appalling offside decision at the end.
