  1. Not heard of injuries and suspensions then? Nothing to do with Plan A not working. When Lambert is unavailable we do not have cover, simple as that. Similar with Fonte and Jaidi, our cover is very thin with Seaborne, Martin seems not to be favoured by NA (I don't know why). WE have more than half the season to go, and will be playing 3 games a week at times, we will suffer injuries and we will have suspensions, ergo we need cover in one or two positions. We also need competition for places, currently there is no real competition for RL or for our 3 CBs. There is no need to have a bigger squad, we need to get rid of Pulis, Forecast and Wotton and bring in about 3 more, so the squad stays the same size actually.
  2. I would hope we can beat all three.
  3. I think we have some scope to offload one or two, don't you. The likes of Pulis, Forecast and Wotton spring to mind. I would guess Puncheon won't be coming back either. We certainly could do with one or two more, a big striker as backup for Lambert and another winger as Holmes is out for the season and Puncheon appears not interested in playing for us. Possibly another good CB as well.
  4. Surely no-one will ever get that desparate, only a mad man would think of hiring "managers" of that standard. Thought hiring Burley was as low as anyone sane could go.
  5. Soon be 4 when Burley is shown the door by Palace
  6. Specially for those that leave 5 minutes before the end of the half
  7. The Player Registration could not be transferred until the window opens but the deal can be done I believe, therefore cannot play on the permanent deal until the window opens. Could happen in this case, could already have happened I would guess, but it doesn't sound like it from what has been said so far.
  8. Loans run between registration periods, therefore Chaplow's loan expires before the transfer window opens on 1st January, so 31st December is the last day of his loan. Clubs cannot fix a loan to complete on 2nd Jan or 3rd Jan (unless rules have changed this season). A new loan could be started on 1st January, or his loan could be made permanent between now and 1st January. Both are possible, but probability is that the business will not be done tomorrow or Friday (will be glad if it is). Clubs don't usually like to play their cards on the 1st day of the window, most activity will happen as usual in the last few days of Jan. Not sure why you mention Oscar Gobern, completely different type of player (attacking MF) to the cover provided by Wotton (defensive MF). I think NA would be mental to have no more cover for Hammond/Spiderman than Gobern, however good he is.
  9. Backup for Morgan and Hammond, as Chaplow's loan expires before the next game, ecen if he joins permanently unlikely to be completed before Saturday.
  10. Assume no Chaplow or Guly, so there will be changes, would expect Barnard to start as NA says he is now fully fit.
  11. You b***ard. That has ruined my morning, seeing that grin again
  12. According to NA Barnard is fully fit, Guly player. I did not see the game today but endured listening to Dave in the 2nd half, who was fullsome in his praise of Guly. Although no great fan of Merrington I will take his opinion over many on here
  13. Neither is a problem. Frost was on one quarter of pitch, solution, swap the half of the pitch the lines cover. Players might get injured wearing blades. Solution, use proper studs, most pro footballers would have used studs anyway on a pitch like this. It is not compulsory to wear blades.
  14. Gives Burley a few more days before he gets the boot.
  15. Really? I doubt Man U would be interested
  16. Careful, associating wisdom with a pseudo-skate is a very dangerous thing to do, after all it was Conan Doyle who actually penned the phrase.
  17. 40,000 is hardly unrealistic, is it? We already have 33k+ capacity. so another 7k? Liverpool & Everton have capacities in excess of 40k, and like Spuds are looking to increase their capacities, in Liverpool's case so that they can compete with Manure. Liverpool are averaging 42.7k this season even though they are crap. Spuds are averaging 35.7k, which is 98.5% of capacity. They could clearly bring in more punters if they had the capacity. Everton likewise. If we had 40k capacity it doesn't mean we would have to have 40k crowds for every home game, but it will allow us to get more plastics in for games against the likes of Manure, Arse and so on, when we know from the past that we can sell out the current ground for these games. 40k really isn't that much of a dream if we are competing in the PL, I might even suggest that to compete in the PL 40k might be somewhat conservative.
  18. Picking up on the Academy/youth part. I would like to know if there are plans to operate the academy satellite again around Bath. We picked up several very good youngsters, including Bale I believe through that route. I know there is still some connection in the area but to get the best youngsters I feel we do have to look further afield than just in Hampshire, and satellites are very helpful for younger kids where the travelling can be rather too much.
  19. Would have to question his fitness working under the Burley regime.
  20. I see your point, but I was referring to the Trumpton references not the boring rumour that Pugh may be signing
  21. Oh no we didn't (as its Pantomime season) http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?26935-January-Transfer-Window-News-and-Rumours/page2 Post #80 As we already have Barney, adding Pugh would be a good signing. If we can get Cuthbert from Swindon the strategy will become clear.
  22. Are we trying to get McGrew as well? Maybe Cuthbert Dibble and Grub less likely.
  23. Oh dear, I was hoping she might have come across as a decent person rather than as a footballer's wife.
  24. I suddenly have this image of a black kettle
  25. Bit light in midfield, misisng having Wotton and Pulis (LOL) as backup I suppose. But surely having kids on a 7 man bench is the point of having kids isn't it? Still have Bart, Harding and DC on the bench, even Gobern and Martin have played quite a lot of games now. What number is Dean, he doesn't have a squad number on the OS?
