Don't quite follow how players signed on a free transfer within the last few weeks suddenly now have a transfer value. Jaidi has no sell-on value either, his next move is clearly into retirement. We all know as well that we have been offered £10m or so for Oxo, so his "value" is at least that (not that I agree with stupid transfer fees for 17 year olds but sadly thats a fact of life these days). Otherwise only Lallana, Morgan and Lambert have any significant value, assuming Morgan's injury is not too bad. I don't think we would get a fee for anyone else, except possibly Fonte.

This was what the Beeb were suggesting last week, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Adkins wouldn't be in for a loanee if Morgan was anywhere near fitness and he knows how big a loss MS really is to our team.

The assistant referee was correct, Andre Mariner got it wrong (how unusual). The laws of the game and the International Board decisions clearly state that it is an offside offence if a player gains advantage by being in an offside position. Gaining an advantage means ""playing a ball that rebounds to him off a post or the crossbar having been in an offside position or playing the ball that rebounds to him off an opponent having been in an offside position". There is nothing in the laws or the clarifications from the IB about control etc. The goal should definitely have been disallowed. But hey, who cares, we won 3-1.

Bournemouth 1 - 3 Saints - Post Match Reaction
VectisSaint replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Thought Bradbury's post match reaction was very fair and he said nothing bad against us, very complimentary at times. Very glad to have got 3 points today but seriously hope B'mouth go up through the playoffs against Posh, Hudders and MK/Orient. -
Usual daft reaction. If it had been 1-1 he wouldn't have come on. Simply down to inexperience. How does the guy get experience if he doesn't get 10-15 minutes at end of games, especially ones that are dead and buried. I wasn't there but the commentary made it sound rather harsh. The only reason it is a big deal is because Morgan is probably out for rest of season and we have no cover for Hammond/Chaplow. Hence bringing in a loanee makes perfect sense.

Was thinking u21s, but of course he is too old now.

We may have international call-ups as well, don't know who is playing that week but would we want to be without Oxo, Lallana and Spiderman (if he is back from injury)?

Beattie, Puncheon And Whoever Else Playing Tonight!?!
VectisSaint replied to dannysfc's topic in The Saints
It was actually Crainey to Beattie to Puncheon...goal!! Brett should have scored just after as well. Why can't Puncheon play like that for Saints, at times tonight he looked half decent, though very patchy. -
More likely NA would go in goal himself, I bet he's still better than Tommy Fourpast

White and red vertical hoops

Claus, Dave Jones & James Beattie to answer my question. Good stuff, top bloke Deano
-
Just testing , I knew that really

I didn't know DC was Russian. Certainly not russian back onto the pitch It sounds like Morgan is out for a longish time, maybe rest of season, but you never know these days. Big miss if true.

Anyone know who represented Saints at Molyneux this afternoon? Apparently as well as Wolves and Spuds, Saints and Bradford sent reps to the game for a tribute beforehand. Nice touch. Read a nice bit from Chris Kamara as well.

Implication on BBC team news this morning was that it was long term, I took it to mean most of the rest of season perhaps.
-
Is there really a brigade of people who think we can still get 46 more points this season? I think most would recognise that 45 is about as good as it can get.
-
I think a better system would be for everyone in the division to play each other home and away, and at the end the 3rd placed team would be promoted along with the winners and runners-up. The disadvantage of this system is that the winners get more prestige for winning/being champions and the 3rd placed team do not get a money-spinning day out at Wembley/Old Trafford and 2 play-off semi-finals and so are not rewarded for comparitive failure like the current system.

Sounds like Spiderman is out long term, not good, means we will have to rely on Dozy Hammond and an out of form Chappers. Not got a good feeling about today.
-
Please make sure you sit there for the entire 90 minutes
-
Right now I'd be happy to see Brett Ormerod back for the rest of the season and Matt Oakley in MF in place of Dozy Hammond.

Depends, it is more important how many we have won, since turning draws into wins is more benficial than the disbenefit of turning draws into losses (+2 points against -1). Last season we won 23 of 46 league games, exactly half. This season so far we have won 15 of 31, i.e. 48%. However if we win 8 of our remaining 15, which is beyond the realms of possibility, we will have won 23 again. Probably be 5 or 6 points less than last season at the end, but then every team at the top apart from Brighton will end up with less points this season than last, the top 6 last term were far more consistent than this. We will probably end up with net more points than last season (taking into account the 10 point penalty) and so will (probably) finish in a high position. So maybe that will be progress, especially as 1 place higher than last season would mean we would at least be in the play-offs. Do I think we are better this season than last? No, probably not, we seem to have a bunch of players who think that all they have to do is turn up and we will win, they need a good kick up the arse. The team are not clicking and the manager needs to sort that. We played poorly against Swindon and won 4-1, we evidently played well agaist Walsall and lst 1-0, something ain't right. In the end though I am still reasonably confident that if we win against the top teams (B&B) we will still go up.
-
We still owe them big time for 1900, bastards
-
What we probably need is to get Murty (or Dodd) out on the pitch and take the armband from Hammond (and preferably leave him out of the team altogether). Murty in place of Butters, drop Hammond and move Butters to MF unless Morgan is fit. Guly for Barnard, jobs a good 'un.
-
Why would Tommy be on the bench when he is on loan at Eastbourne and we have Shea?
-
They also have the 2nd worst defence, even before yesterday. Approx 1 in 3 of their away goals this season came from Austin, without his contribution they really are toothless unless the lad from Leeds does well. Comparing them now with how they were before 28 January is not really relevant. They are in free-fall and look certainties for relegation unless another 2 or 3 teams go into admin.
