  1. This. This whole story is total fabrication. There is nothing here to suggest Saints are upfor sale, there is nothing to suggest Lawrie is involved, utter utter ******. This is a story that simply says that Saints are a far more attractive prospect than they were 2 years ago. No **** Sherlock! Actually if you actually read the article you could be very pleased that the current owners have turned the club round from being a dead duck to a great club going places, and no indication whatsoever that the current owners would sell. Its actually a pity that the OP gave the thread such a ridiculous title, clearly does not understand the difference between selling a business and hostile takeovers.
  2. OK, OK, you're right, in that case I blame Telfer, Delap and Jimmy Melia.
  3. Jaidi would have been a complete liability today against the pace they had. Seaborne (note spelling) made 1 mistake as far as I could see, but I would agree that we need another CB, and was very surprsied we didn't strengthen in that area during the window. Jaidi is fine against L1 quality players, Posh have players up front who will be in the PL soon, if not next season.
  4. As you have already stated that you didn't follow the game, your opinion is really not of any great value. If you had watched the game you would have witnessed one of the most exciting and entertaining matches you would ever be privileged to see and you would also have seen that every player on both sides gave it everything. We weathered a terrific storm from them in the first 10 minutes and then completely outplayed the team with the best home record in the division who score an average 3 goals in every game at London Road, and if you had watched or even listened to the game you would have witnessed the terrific attacking force that Peterboro have, only wish we had 1 or 2 of theirs. But no instead you sit there with no knowledge of the game today and snipe and sneer as usual.
  5. Don't think NA made any bad decisions, and of course Spiderman wasn't available so that can hardly be NA's fault, unless he took him out in training or something. I thought NA did take offf Harding and Barnard as well, so actually he did what you are suggesting. Bringing on Richardson was a good move, and exactly what we needed to do to shore up the MF, we had looked vulnerable there all evening, one of the drawbacks of playing a diamond. Had to take off Guly before he was sent off, in any case was having a poor day. I guess the only possible different decision he may have made would have been to bring on N'Guessian for Chambo. I think some people think they would make good managers, it is not always as simple as saying "lets shut up shop chaps". It depends on the opposition being outclassed and not playing an attacking force like Posh have, CMS, Boyd and the others were absolutely flying tonite and in some ways we were lucky they didn't score 6. I'm no fan of Davis but he kept us in it at several points and Fonte was immense dealing with CMS, thankfully the referee was very astute in dealing with this as well, realising that Smith was backing into Fonte time after time trying to draw free kicks. Sometimes you know you actually have to give credit to the other team, much as I hate to give credit to anything related to a Ferguson, it has to be said they have some great players, thank goodness none of their back 5 could be categorised as such
  6. Wonder what the odds were on Pardew's current and previous teams both drawing 4-4 today. Feel a bit deflated but it was a helluva game, and you can see why Peterboro are so full of goals with CMS, Boyd and Mendez, luckily they defend like schoolboys. 2/4 pens should never have been given, 1 each. Yes its disappointing to let a 2-goal lead slip twice but we were lucky not to have gone behind early on. Unlike some I will not be slitting my wrists tonight, bit like the good old days seeing 8 goals in a game, and having no idea who would win. In the overall scheme of things this is actually a good result, not many teams have got anything at London Road this season.
  7. 5 subs and treatment for Harding, other stoppages as well, it was always going to be 4 or 5 at least.
  8. Can't believe this thread is still going. has anyone actually considered that SFC are not willing to make public the reason for not allowing NI to purchase a season ticket because they feel it would be rather embarrassing for Nick? I have no idea what has happened, but maybe they feel the reason would not be good for Nick in the public domain. I don't see (hear) NI making a huge issue of this publicly, perhaps he really doesn't know why he isn't being sold a ST, but then again maybe it would be disadvantageous to him for the real reason to be made public. No-one other than Nick or Nic know the real reasons yet this forum continues to debate something we have no knowledge of and accuse everybody of things we know nothing about. Quite frankly I couldn't give a flying fig why someone who represents no-one is refused a ST, but is still allowed to attend games, but I do find it annoying that people are prepared to drag the name of SFC through the mud without real knowledge of the facts.
  9. I realise this was posted before the win against Exeter. Neverthless, Brighton's away record is worse than ours (in terms of points it is the same, but our win ratio is higher). It is their home form that is far better than ours. February we had 4 away and 2 home games, therefore I don't see this month as particularly massive in terms of those games. Of course we need to win our 2 home games, and if we can lose no more than 1 away we will be doing very well (no away defeats would be a bonus). The away games this month, with the possible exception of Peterborough are nothing to be worried about and as we proved against Exeter we can dig out a victory when we don't play well. Also what happened to all the scare mongerers saying we would have a fixture pile up and midweek games every week - we only have one more midweek game this month, hardly a fixture pile up is it. Only Chamberlain has an extra midweek game if he gets to play for england U21s. Massive month? not really
  10. Just one point. Can someone clear up. Is it Forte as in Fonte, or is it Forte as in Fonte? 1 syllable or 2?
  11. The coach? What happened to the bus? We should be told, has Cortese cancelled the bus, if so boo hiss.
  12. He probably injured his foot giving his hairdresser a good kicking
  13. Tubbs hat-trick will see the Red Devils through against, umm, the Other Red Devils. Or are they the Green & Yellow Devils now?
  14. You forgot young Pulis as well. Should not forget that Butters can also play MF. The folks that question Morgan's ability are largely the same ones that used to question Matt Oakley, people who think all MFs have the same role. I think we do have a problem in MF if Morgan is injured or suspended, we do not have a ready made short term replacement, Hammond, Chaplow and Gobern cannot play that role in my opinion. Wotton was usually the backup (Heaven forbid) but now he's gone, does that leave us with Pulis to fill in? I hope note.
  15. Strange really, apart from distance I thought Bart's kicking yesterday was much better than Davis generally, nearly always found a Saints player and I don't recall one of his kicks finding touch. His distribution generally is more intelligent, mixing it up, bowling it out sometimes to the full back and not always playing the giant hopeful hoof down the middle that KD tends to use 95% of the time. Bart is also more assured from corners and has better management of his defenders and their positioning. KD is a better shot stopper, of that there is little doubt, but with a run of games under his belt and not just an occassional run out, Bart will in my opinion blossom into a better all round keeper than KD. KD still makes me nervous, whereas I feel quite relaxed with Bart between the sticks, and it seems to rub off on the players as well. Very difficult for young keepers, they tend to mature later (in terms of their profession). We are fortunate to probably have the best 2 keepers in the division, but not sure how long we will be able to hang on to both, Bart will feel the need for 1st team football very soon (again, as he already looked to leave last season), would be a travesty if he left now after all these years, but wouldn't surprise me just as he is getting to be fully ready. Bit like Poke, let go just as he was coming to goalkeeper maturity, proved how good he could be during his loans at Torquay.
  16. Messrs Channon, Fisher, Rodrigues and Holmes for a start. I wasn't there either but they were interviewed on the pitch by ITV.
  17. What I saw yeaterday was that we will be OK on The Championship and we could even compete with lower end Prem teams, but we have a battle to get out of L1. When we have space and time we look excellent, but not so good when we are closed down and hassled and have to break down a 10 man defence. Our weakest area is up front. Lambert and Barnard especially looked out classed yesterday. I really don't know what has happened to Barnard, he has lost his touch & his confidence, Connolly would have been a better option against Manure on yesterday's evidence. Guly will be good when he just learns to look up and get his passes away more accurately.
  18. Forgetting he hit the post in the 1st half, and actually was probably best player during the first 45 minutes (not that that was difficult, as they were made to look awful by us)
  19. Did they? Thought the ref was very good yesterday. I expected him to be Manure biased but he wasn't. Only gave 1 card, Morgan was fortunate not to get one. Thought Owen's post match comments were reasonable as well, all he was saying was that the fitness of lower league teams (in general) begins to tell after 60 minutes or so, and frankly he generally has a point, although that wasn't wholly the point yesterday. We losy yesterday because they changed their system and we couldn't cope with the width in the late second half, I don't think we ran ourselves ragged in the 1st half, we played very controlled patient football.
  20. Yellow for Butters, but otherwise no cards Cherries won 2-1 by the way.
  21. Thought the lads did really well, result in the end was what I predicted so no surprise, but disappointed that we gifted them 2 goals. Had to laugh at WGS who reckoned it was down to us being knackered, when the major gaff was by a player fresh off of the bench. Interesting watching the last 5-10 minutes when it was blindingly clear that we were not going to try and get an equaliser. Might have been different if we had held on to 1-1, I think we would have gone gung-ho and either won or lost. 1-2 against Manure, no disgrace for a 3rd Div side, and we were by far the better footballing side in the 1st half. Harding and Chappers were outstanding. Right, now for the League
  22. Back to 4th, Carlisle equalised
  23. Did anyone really think they would fold today against Argyle? Plymouth are heading for oblivion. Don't think today was much of a test for Cherries to be fair. I know its not League 1 but Scott Bevan has saved 2 pens for Torquay against Crawley, Matt Tubbs goal still separates the sides though.
  24. Some people are just weird. Really find it difficult to get my head round the idea that someone can support a team (any team) and hope they lose. The fact the we have shown over and over again that the cup run last season did not cost us a play-off place indeed we never lost a game following an FA Cup game) doesn't seem to have gotten through. Our performance after our last cup game was diabolical wasn't it, I'm sure we would have scored 12 against Oldham if we hadn't been distracted by Blackpool. Of course we aren't going to win the Cup this year, but I don't think there is any way that today's game will have even the remotest bearing on whether we are promoted. If we don't get promoted it will be because we are not good enough. The only thing I want today is for no-one to get a Red Card, and that we don't get tonked, but if we win I will be ****ing over the moon.
  25. Just a minor little point, but if MLT wanted tickets for today's game how come he is working on Sky today? Clearly had no intention of being at the game today if he had other commitments, just trying to get tickets for mates and family. MLT & Franny really are making themselves look like complete mugs. Still just goes to prove that great players and Franny don't neccessarily have much common sense.
