Always clear he had the skill, but what do you expect when coached by George Burley. The whole squad looked so unfit after a GB pre-season, and Hamill needed a proper coach. Now he has that he is showing what he can do. Liverpool do not bring up poor players, but poor coaches can make good players look bad, and GB was one of the best at that. Never had a clue once Snodin departed.

If you're as good as Crainey you should be playing for Saints. Have you seen him play this year? He looks very comfortable in the PL. Probably won't play today as he played in midweek and is first choice. So in fact after FA Cup games we were unbeaten. So lets have a long FA cup run. What I recall was that we were poor after JPT games, the difference with them was that we had to always shuffle the team about a lot more for the JPT because so many players were cup-tied. If I recall correctly for the FA Cup there were fewer players we had to leave out, so we were able to play a more consistent team.

Makes perfect sense, competition/backup for Lambert. Connolly, Barnard and Doble are not competition for RL, they are different types of striker (smaller, more mobile, good when playing one big 'un and one small 'un). Whether Priskin would want to be 2nd choice behind RL remains to be seen , depends how hungary he is to redicover his old form :-) Also suspect it depends on the outcome of the Guly transfer, since although he is really a MF he seems to be enjoying playing as 2nd striker to RL, and at the moment in preference to Barnard.

Idiotkez would probably have missed, one of our worst signings ever. No-one should have let Best take a pen under such pressure, at least he had the guts to step up when all of our experienced players bottled it. As usual we put all the effort into making Best into a good player and then let him go when he is finally coming good.

Conversely it could be the best time to announce a signing, before an FA Cup game that doesn't affect our promotion bid, give those "in the risk zone" the chance to go out and show the manager what they can do. Anyway there is no-one really "in the risk zone", the team we have is already good enough to win the League, what we will be bringing in is players to strengthen the squad to cover for injuries/suspensions and to be be available at the next level. Competition for places is what its all about, competition for Rickie, long term replacement for Jaidi and backup for AOC assuming Punch departs.

True, but he hasn't played at all this season (apart from short sub appearance last game) due to cruciate ligament injury and only played about 8 times total last season. What odds on 4 PL managers being sacked tomorrow: Grant, Hodgson, Ancelotti & Houllier must all be slightly concerned at their future job prospects?
