feeling a bit embarassed to be a Saints fan tonight
VectisSaint replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
I think anyone who is embarrassed about our position is an embarrassment to the Club. Real football supporters, as opposed to plastics, really do give a **** about the 3rd division or even the 4th and Conference. As for being in the EPL, it is embarrassing that anyone actually uses that term. I can usually forgive our Colonial cousins (if you are one then howdy), but really the EPL? It is the Premier League, not the English Premier League, or if you want to pander to corporate sponsorship the Barclays Premier League. Never ever is it the EPL. Saints were in the Premier League for what, 13 seasons in our 125 year history. Are you embarrassed about the other 112 years. I'm certainly not. LOL -
Don't think there will be need for transfer requests, there will be 2 or 3 shipped out in January. NA will dispose of anyone he sees as not being part of the team, and bring in some replacements that he will prefer to work with. One of the problems taking over after start of season, you need to work with the players you have (generally) even though some of those players are part of the problem. We do need to bring in a proper cover for RL though, Barney and DC or even Guly cannot take on that role, so RL will not be dropped regularly until that move is made in Jan (unless there is an emergency loan in the 10 days).

Carlisle 3 - 2 Saints - post match reaction.

Because we have a GK who does not command his box. Simples. Probably the best shot stopper in the Football League but aspects of his game such as this are not the same class (if they were he would probably be playing in the PL). LOL at those saying we must play 442 every week and then blaming NA for being tactically inept. Poor show today, hopefully we won't suffer backlash from Posh -
125 and a bit. Steve Williams & Alan Ball, one of the finest midfield pairings ever

Charles Darwin, Michael Palin, Wilfred Owen, Mary Webb, Clive of India...
VectisSaint replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
Nope, he was actually Clive of Styche (the Clive family estate), or possibly Clive of Market Drayton. Difficult to see a connection with Shrewsbury, apart from a statue that stands in the town, I suspect he is thought of more as a Salopian (i.e. from Shropshire). -

Very nearly, would be a tight squeeze. One of the few grounds where I have sat in the dugout on a matchday as manager -

Just read this on Mick Channon's site http://www.mickchannon.tv/news.php Classic Windmill There are often too many classic quotes of the week to keep track on with MRC at times, but his latest gripe cannot go unreported. When discussing Gareth Bale's remarkable hat-trick at the San Siro against Inter Milan last night, it wasn't the Tottenham man's class and ability that was the major talking point, but his nationality that irked the Boss. "What a **** he is! Why does he want to play for Wales?" When informed that Bale was not only born in Cardiff, but that his entire family are Welsh through and through, he followed up his well thought out, reasoned position by asserting, "He started out at Southampton for ****'s sake, he should be qualified for England, otherwise there's no point in these foreigners coming over here, us developing them and then not reaping the rewards." At this stage, Mick was reminded that he could have played for Wales courtesy of his maternal grandmother. This is when the conversation abruptly came to a halt as the former England International stormed out to oversee second lot.

make as few changes as possible, it is always the best policy. The more players play together the better they willl become. Only rest players if they are carrying an injury, that would be my policy. Only exception I might concede is Bart for Davis.

Best Value For Money Signings 1. Mark 'Psycho' Dennis...
VectisSaint replied to TijuanaTim's topic in The Saints
Edric Bates, how can anyone be better value for money than Mr Southampton For players that I saw play probably has to be Alan Ball. -
That would be a "wood" then
-
Exactly, Morgan is the new Matt Oakley, people slag him off who do not understand the role he is asked to play, it was ever thus with Matty as well
-
What about Redbridge, how many are they bringing?
-
Lets hope he is OK and wasn't in need of help from any of the pedants on this forum.

Not after 13 games we didn't. Compare at the end of the season and then you might have a point. Last season we had about 5 points after 13 games (may not be exactly right), this season we have 18.

Used to be that teams sacked their manager after they lost to us, as if losing to Saints was a sackable offence.

Skacel hat-trick

We just moved up 2 places, Colchester and Carlisle both equalised

The costs of decontaminating the ground would make any development unlikely to be worthwhile.

Would fit in well playing behind Rooney, should clearly demonstrate our ambition to Wayne when he joins in January
