  1. Slightly more interested this week than last.
  2. You missed the point, why doesn't our OS report this, especially as it was putting one over on the Skates. It actually says on our OS "Keep up to date with all the news surrounding the Saints Academy", perhaps they should add "by looking on our opponents web sites" Its not a big deal, but with so little news around at the moment, a report on an Academy match against the Skates yesterday would seem something to note.
  3. Glad to see we beat the Skates. Shame that we can't read about it on our own OS. Nothing on there that I can see about this game, last Academy update was the West Ham game last weekend. Pompey may not have a pot to **** in but they can still manage to put news on their official web site.
  4. Small point of order, Nuneaton N(B)orough don't exist any more. Nuneaton Town won the Southern League play off against Chippenham Town to get promoted to the Conference South for next season. The Boro were liquidated in 2008, reformed later but FA insisted on a new name, hence Nuneaton Town. I'll get my anorak.
  5. No, much rather Millwall went up. Leeds are no great shakes, and it will be good to beat a "big team" to the L1 champsionship next season. If I didn't live here and work in Swindon then logically I would prefer Swindon to go up, after all they took 6 points off us and never conceded a goal, but I really couldn't put up with all the wurzels gloating for the next year, that would be hard to take. No, Leeds to lose gets my vote.
  6. Solidarirty with the BA1. Sorry to hear about this Duncan, was gobsmacked when I saw the item on the BBC News earlier. Just illustrates the low life that we have running some major companies these days in this country. Employment Law is weighted so heavily in favour of the employers these days, it is despicable. Many, many years since I flew with BA, they are one of the worst advertisements for this country, dirty tricks and marketing gaffs, they are embarrassing. It would be nice to say you are well off out of it, but of course its not that easy when you have lost your livelihood. Good luck with your case anyway, the more embarrasment to WW the better.
  7. Cheers, thought I was going mad, well more mad perhaps
  8. How do you know? I can't see any results except that RL won.
  9. Still find it odd that no-one else has picked MLT, re-read the OP again, what have I missed? Is he not eligible or something? I know he wasn't the greatest in 01/02 but still would walk (or at least stroll) into any side that we could put out since that time. I guess I am being a dumb ****er and have missed something somewhere.
  10. I suspect entrance to all home games next season will be free for adults as a special memento of our 125th anniversary.
  11. If he could walk into 5 or 6 Prem teams why was it only Stoke that were interested? he was at Sheff Utd remember before Pulis took him to the Potteries. He has had a major fall out with Pulis and probably does not figure in his plans. Maybe Pulis would loan hm to us and take his son as a makeweight or do I mean lightweight Of course Beatts is on high wages compared to l1, and I'm sure he is not looking to drop down to L1. My suggestion was meant to be light-hearted, but it is as sensible as most others on here. I think Beattie would make a half-decent back up for Rickie but it ain't gonna happen.
  12. Perhaps we could get Beattie back as a back-up for Rickie. Similar players, JB likes it down south, and likes the red & white stripes (don't tell him we wont be wearing stripes next season), reckon he could hack it in the 3rd division, can't see him staying at Stoke.
  13. never thought I would see a sentence that includes the words "Rasiak" and "ahead". Rasiak just ahead of a stunned slug maybe LOL Rather have Sperm John than Captain Slow. Best XI of the decade without really thinking (can't believe no-one has include Le Tiss, even an overweight unfit Le Tiss is better than just about anyone else): Niemi, Dodd, M Svensson, Lundekvam, Bridge, Walcott, Oakley, Bale, Le Tiss, Pahars, Beattie Subs R Wright, Baird, Crouch, Fonte, Philips, Morgan, Wise. Probably a bit weak in MF, but what the ****, it would be fun.
  14. Agreed, as long as we don't have to work around players being ineligible or cup-tied then we would be fine. Good cup runs often help to bolster a good league run, its all about a winning mentality. They also allow a few squad players to get games without seriously weakening the side which is a benefit in the long term. Definitely would not do any harm to successfully defend the JPT and win the 3rd Division. Just one trip to Wembley next season will do me fine, no play-off lotteries are required.
  15. Harsh - don't think Wigan deserve that
  16. Poor man's Dylan, we can do better
  17. No, you're right, Leeds was a poor choice, sometimes forget how big they really are while they are in L1 or even the Championship
  18. A Provinicial Club is any club that is in the provinces, i.e. not in London. Manure is a provincial club, so is Southampton, but not Chelski, the Arse or Spuds. We certainly are not a small provincial club, but neither are we one of the large ones, like Manure, City, Liverpool, Everton, Villa or Newcastle (historically). More like medium along with Sunderland, Leeds, Birmingham City, WBA, Stoke and so on. Small provincial clubs would be the likes of Bournemouth, Torquay, Pompey and so on
  19. Think the answer is that ML is not based in the UK, hence he does not appear in the List. The list is "The first definitive list of the wealthiest sporting stars in Britain and Ireland". ML is not based in the UK and therefore does not figure in the list. Here is a quote from the Times from 9 Jul 2009: "Liebherr, 61, was born in Germany and is a member of a wealthy Swiss-based business family who specialise in construction machinery, although he operates independently through his own group of companies, the Mali Group. Liebherr, who paid an estimated £13 million for the club, is understood to have personal wealth of €3 billion (£2.6 billion)." Think that answers the question and confirms that they do know about ML. Frank van Weasel's "wealth" (pah! peanuts) didn't help Southend much did it.
  20. Totally agree, and Martin replaced Seaborne who many don't rate. James replaced Antonio who will be at Reading next season probably. James played most of the season so is not exactly inexperienced. Up front Barnard is the leagues 2nd top scorer, and Connolly is the best player in the 3rd division (when fit). So I can't see this argument that AP played a weakened team. People have been crying out all season to give RL a rest, and now they bleat that AP actually did so. We need to learn how to play without RL on occassions and this was the perfect opportunity to experiment. The only mistake AP made was to play Fonte, in his heart he probably knew that he was not fit, but this often happens when players are desparate to play and declare themselves fit.
  21. You could add Claus and Crop Circles as well, even Beattie for that matter. Don't forget BWP as well. Hughes is not AP's type of player, AP looks for players comfortable on the ball. Nothing wrong with Hughes, just not the right style for Saints current squad.
  22. On the other hand if you want to drink sterile fizzy ****, wear strange leather shorts, grow eidelweiss and yodel then stay in Austria.
  23. You can't be more precise then. That describes everyone from Devizes, blokes included
  24. Did he go off at HT because of injury?
