  1. That's the double over them, we beat them 4-3 in the fist game of the season. Only one other win this season in the PL2 Div 1 (Wolves).
  2. Played very well first half, but second half, especially after they scored, he lost his head. He panics and this leads to bad mistakes. Over the 90 minutes he probably comes out of it well, but really you need better in a skipper when the chips are down.
  3. Long was not backing in. The Amazon tater was spouting that nonsense as well. You can't back in while going forward. If Friend thought it was a dive then it should have been a yellow. It was a blatant push, but because its Long it isn't given.
  4. Hardly a brain fart, left exposed by Cedric being out of position, one player can't mark two attackers. The only negative thing you can say about Stephens there was that the whole defence was playing a stupidly high line and a well placed path undone them. Think Cederic could have stopped it even from his poor starting position. Thought other than that Stephens had a very solid game, Bednarek got caught out of position couple of times but he was recueed by team mates. JWP had a good game tonight, his corners were much better, and he didn't give the ball away repeatedly like he did on Saturday. Hojbjerg though was dreadful in the second half, you really want your captain to keep a cool head, but PEH looked extremely nervous and flustered. Thought Bertran had a great game first half, then went completely missing second half, no attacking threat at all. Redmond is struggling for confidence, looks to have lost a half a yard of pace from last season and that is costing him. Ings is becoming a massive player for us, not just his goals but his energy and enthusiasm, has a weird way of running but it is effective. McCarthy's distribution is awful. Well done Saints, we needed that second win. Long way to go though, we still look poor, but at least we are better than two sides. Need to find a third now.
  5. Fonte was considered a liability for a few seasons here before he finally came good in the PL. Used to make a major cockup nearly every game. Dear old Claus wasn't the greatest, but formed a stunning partnership with Killer. We've had a few top drawer CBs in the last few years, VVD, aAlderveireld in particular, these are world class players, we will be very fortunate to fin their likes again. Stephens has shown in the last few games that he is better than the other dross we have, alongside Bednarek. Yes we can arguably upgrade a bit, but we won't get much better. It's a pity we didn't sign Johnny Evans, not the best CB in the world, but he shows what experience brings, and playing alongside Bednarek or Stephens he surely would have helped their development.
  6. You've not heard of the idea of players taking a cut in wages? I know it doesn't happen often, but players with a brain who have bombed do actually take this route. Moi will never get to the PL level, but he can operate at the level of the SPL and could make a decent living on Celtic wages. Trouble might be that Celtic might actually not want him, he has done quite well, but I see that he is not even in the squad at the moment, maybe he is injured, and the Hoops are doing pretty well without him. he really hasn't become a must have for them so far. Fraser, well I did say about brains. But I think even he may see that taking a drop and staying at Celtic would be good for his career. He isn't going to displace McCarthy or Gunn.
  7. Yep, pathetic. Can't put forward a logical argument so just slag everyone else off as stupid. Then resort to insults and bad language. Typical response. JWP was awful yesterday, but he did score the winner (for once he actually did what everyone says he is a master at, it was a very good free kick). he also was involved in a couple of other good moves up front late in the game. But for the first 55-60 minutes he was absolutely ****ing abysmal. Anyone can see it. That's the trouble the good things he did late on paper over an appalling performance. People are "slagging him off" justifiably. Clearly yesterday he was not able to handle the pressure that the team had put on itself by the abysmal home performances this season. He is not the man you want when we are up for a battle, he can't handle it. Time and again this season he has shown this. So, you **** right off.
  8. ? The typical response of someone who really does not know anything about football. "If you disagree with me you must be stupid". Pathetic.
  9. JWP did not make tackle after tackle. He was absolutely woeful today (goal excepted). No idea what you were watching.
  10. Well done on finally getting a win. But let's not forget the abysmal performance before Djenepo and Ings got us back in it. JWP will get plaudits for the goal, rightly, but his performance apart from that was truly horrible. Hojbjerg too, unbelievably bad. Until Djenepo's magic it was difficult to see why he was on the pitch, looked so out of his depth. Obafemi, Cedric truly awful. But that will all be forgotten because we won. Hopefully the confidence will help these players be better next time.
  11. Maybe we should change to supporting the New Saints, making Leicester look ordinary at the moment.
  12. Where did Ralph slag off MO?
  13. Haven't heard about 't Committee sin e the days of the Wheel Tappers and Shunters Club. WTF is this thread all about? Some dinosaurs from the 70s?
  14. Why isn't Sims match fit?OK, he went off last game for RB with a small injury but he had been playing more often than he would have been here. The way we handle our players these days is really troubling if we can't keep fringe players to a decent fitness level so that they are available if needed. Hopefully Matt Crocker will get some organisation ba k into this club when he eventually starts work.
  15. True, especially given he doesn't start till early 2020. In my view 'early 2020' probably doesn't even mean January. Thinking he is probably working 3 months notice, so maybe mid/late Feb at least.
  16. Lawrie was almost universally derided when he took the reigns from Ted, don't forget though that Ted was still there when Painer was shifted out. It was a perfectly sensible thing to do, he was past his prime as a player but was a hugely influential and outspoken person in the club. No new guy, certainly not an outsider like Lawrie could have worked well in those circumstances. Lawrie turned the haters round with his performances and the style of play and the type of players he introduced. It took a while, he was still getting a hard time in 74 when we were at the wrong end of the Div 2 table. But that's really what made him a legend to those of us at the time. He did his talking on the pitch as it were, he was admired for what he did not what he said. I don't think a statue is appropriate for Lawrie. But really that's because I don't think statues should ever be erected for living persons, sportsmen or not. I hope I never see statues for Lawrie, Paine, Channon or Le Tiss in my lifetime, because I think it would mean they had passed away (3 of them are older than me, so it may well happen I suppose). I wouldn't be averse to a statue to Markus (hopefully they would spell his name right), also think Ron Davies should have been remembered better than he has been. A wall of legends would be a good idea though (don't Chelsea have one behind what was The Shed?). There would still be arguments about who should be on it though, as long as the aforementioned people plus Bally, Nick Holmes and Ivan Golac I'd be happy.
  17. I seem to remember Markus had some sort of link with RB before he bought Saints, something low key in Switzerland. RB and Liebherr also have links with their trucks in rallying. The rumours about RB and Southampton have never surprised me.

  19. Watson left England before Matt Crocker left us and joined England.

  21. The Club have addressed the need for a CB several times in the last 3 seasons, Hoedt, Bednarek, Vestergaard and Danso have all been siggned since 2017. Its not that the Club don't address the problem, but that they can't get it right (Bednarek is OK, bit the others are crap). If we sign another one why will it be a good signing, the track record says otherwise, and we have less football expertise at the club at the moment.
  22. Apart from Man City we haven't lost from a winning position yet this season in the PL, 2 games where we have drawn after being ahead, including today. I guess you are thinking of last season still.
  23. Thank you Kenneth
  24. Good news, wasn't expecting Sam McQueen to be back already, at least we now have a credible back up for Bertie. ?
  25. That's that then. Jose the font of all knowledge. The man who went to West Ham to be near his family. That said, he is probably right.
