He was still at Watford yesterday, their u23s beat Ipswich in Professional Develpment League South game. Apparently doing quite well, at that level (the level below the PL2 league).

Tend to agree with you actually, just think Doddsy and Williams were poor example. Think things are changing a bit, possibly. Andrew Sparkes, for instance, highly regarded goalkeeper coach brought in, not many internal appointments since Jaidi, Butterfield was an ex player but he joined as coach from Exeter. Will be interesting to see who they bring in to replace Jaidi, if indeed he has been sacked. No mention of it in Monday briefing from the Club (but that's no surprise), and we do have a game tomorrow in the Leasing.com trophy at Coventry.

Williams was never a Dave Jones plodder, he joined with Strachan and didn't stay long. Dodd admittedly played under Jones, but he played under a lot of other coaches as well, some good (Ball, Merrington, Hoddle/Gorman, Strachan) and some awful (Branfoot), gaining a lot of experience both good and bad under a variety of managers, really don't think he was a particularly bad appoinment given our position at the time.

Doddsy and Williams were appointed when we (the 1st team) were in League One, not sure that attracting the best in the world coaches was too likely to have worked at that stage. Thing is, bringing in ex players who want to move into management/coaching is a fairly standard approach by many clubs. Where else do you get started? Not everyone gets the luxury of joining a 1st team without any experience like Gerrard or Lampard. Jaidi is quite highly thought of in coaching terms, was certainly under consideration for the Tunisian national team last season. I suspect if he has been sacked (and at the moment the only source is Manji) then its not based on results, reckon there is something else going on.
