  1. No problem is Morgan goes for £25m, as others have said - I would be annoyed if he ended up at Spurs or Liverpool. He has given everything he can to the club during his time here and will go to Arsenal with many supporters blessing. If it allows Saints to reinvest and buy two players with the money then great, personally Krychowiak and Imbula would be excellent signings to complement the squad and immediately strengthen the 1st XI.
  2. We often focus on the mistakes and errors when watching England. Re-watched the game last night and we were the better side, controlled the match for long periods and created at least 3 good chances in the first half (Sterling twice and Rooney) which we should have scored. A couple of defensive errors and we are 1-0 down at half time. The 2nd half was even more one sided and Rooney should have had a hat-trick. Although Gibbs got caught under the ball for the Slovenia equaliser, it was a good goal. Clearly England are not at the same level as Germany or Argentina at the moment, but they have enough talent and ability and I believe we have stumbled on a formation that suits (4-3-3). We should be looking to be a team about pace upfront, and we need to sort out CB as I think GK and fullbacks are fine (provided you play full backs there and not Phil Jones). England need one more win to qualify and because of the increased size of the competition next year, I can easily see England getting to the QF's - and then it depends on the draw. By the way, do you think Belgium are having meltdowns this weekend after losing to the Welsh?
  3. ...and a three year old shooting himself after getting hold of Mummy's gun. Tragic accident, but if you take away the gun it doesn't happen!
  4. Wasn't Middlesbrough used as the template for the opening scene from Blade Runner...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaR5wVL9x2I Apart from the flying cars, pretty accurate really!
  5. I agree, but I think a lot of why Rasiak doesn't get much credit is that most, if not all of the players from that time are seen as transient and were only there to pick up their pay cheques. It always strikes me how badly managed that team was under Burley - we should have been pushing for automatic promotion that season, but scraped into the playoffs. The quality and style of football wasn't great either, but that 2006/07 season is forgotten because of the chaos and horror that followed. Back on the subject of this thread, what is the latest on Austin - Talksport seemed to be saying he was nailed on for Newcastle Utd (while trying to suggest that West Ham would be good because it was in London.)
  6. I am sure read something last year about boxing day fixtures and the police not wanting local derbies. The only local game last year was Arsenal v QPR. I always think you want to play the promoted teams early, before they have had a chance to get up to speed with the Premier League. Bournemouth is going to have significance (whether we care or not) at any point in the season, again I would rather get it out of the way relatively early - preferably not after a Europa league game. We will probably find that we are on TV quite a bit to start the season so expect fixtures to change dates and times...
  7. £25 per season is imho good value. I am a Gloucester Rugby season ticket holder so I have to fit games around Gloucester etc, this season it has been quite difficult as most of the fixtures clashed and I can't get down for midweek games due to family. As I said, personally I am happy with this as it will hopefully allow me to get tickets to some away games I wouldn't normally try for (Liverpool, Utd, Citeh, Arsenal etc) and mean I have better chance at the local away games like WBA and Villa. I would love a season ticket at Saints but can't really afford it, so this is a happy medium in the short term.
  8. I am happy with this and £25 is not a huge price to pay as a one off. Plus if it means I can get tickets to away games (which I haven't been able to since back in the Prem) I will be very pleased.
  9. I see someone has already mentioned it, but now Twitchy is on Twitter all I can say is....Troll away boys, troll away!
  10. Unfortunately in light of very recent events and the sad death of Jerry Collins - I met him in Gloucester on my 'local' stag night back in 2009. Absolute gent and if you want to get a true idea of the type of man that he was, read this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/2324673/All-Black-gives-Barnstaple-second-XV-the-edge.html RIP Jerry!
  11. Remember that night - it was embarrassing. Compared to the second time we played them when Chaplow banged in a goal just before half time!
  12. Met Matt Le Tiss and it was everything I wanted it to be...(not in a sexual way though). Frank Worthington in Menorca airport - top bloke Nicest bloke out there considering is new found position married to royalty is Mike Tindall. Absolute gentleman and top bloke - most rugby players are to be fair. With the notable exception of Gavin Henson who is a complete W*****!
  13. Just returned from Football tour in Cardiff and experienced FootGolf for the first time. Have to say it was a really enjoyable way to spend a morning. Much harder than you think it is going to be and judging by the laughter all around us everyone seemed to be having a great time. Managed a score of 24+ par, which despite sounding terrible, was pretty good on the day - which may show the qualities and standard of my football team. One lad managed 64+ par, which was pretty impressive on the basis that the max score you could have was 84+ par. Anyone else played FootGolf yet, any thoughts on a potential SaintsWeb Cup?
  14. Can we get Le Tiss to tap up Aduriz....looks very useful
  15. How about... We don't care about you, we don't care about yoooouuuuu. We are Southampton, we don't care about you!
  16. 21/22 - Watson and Howie! Argh! I like these quizzes, it makes me realise how unbelievably sad I am.
  17. If you want to put yourself through hell!
  18. First ever game at St Mary's - 2 nil up at halftime, everything happy days. But as the game went on, we looked worse and worse - seem to remember all the other results going against that day too. The game was delayed due to an accident down at West Quay so we knew all the results way before our game finished. The biggest thing I remember from the game was how unfit we looked in comparison to Villa. The team under Strachan was probably the fittest in the league but we looked knackered after 60 mins and you could see it all unravelling in front of you. When you look at the squad, we should never have gone down - lots of goals in the team and certainly compared to others around us an ok squad. The problem was the disaster of Sturrock/Wigley and the Twitchy all in close succession and Rupert not spending any money in the January transfer window. If I recall it was all loan signings and free's...that and Olivier Bernard - Christ was he S***E!

  20. Comedy like Music is such a subjective thing that of course everyone is going to have their favourites etc. I have seen Jimmy Carr, Chris Addison, Russell Howard and they were all excellent. I was disappointed by Frankie Boyle, most of the material was stuff he had done on Mock the Week and I felt that he was almost holding back. I do enjoy watching the edgier comedy, stuff that is closer to the line but there is always a place for the 'middle of the road' stuff too. Peter Kay isn't quite as good as he was 10 or so years ago, I actually think he is better as a writer - Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kay Thing were works of genius. John Oliver also someone who I think is really good in both the stand up and TV world. Saying that Miranda is pretty awful, as is Mrs Brown (although I have found myself laughing out loud at the latter on occasion, I felt dirty afterwards).
  21. Forsooth, it is because you have become a mouthpiece of the Establishment Bourgeoisie that you fail to understand the need of the modern proletariat for a raffish personality who is able to converse and engage in a prolonged diatribe about the perceived ills of this consumer driven world that we all inhabit....or some b*ll*cks like that! Unfortunately he has found that his voice resonates with a sizeable percentage of the population who don't want to engage their own brain, instead relying on a 'Celebrity' to do their thinking for them. Most of what he says is utter nonsense, but occasionally he comes out with some dangerous stuff! The Don't vote rubbish he was spouting when he was interviewed by Paxman is the reason you end up with UKIP/BNP et al in positions of power and influence. Although my favourite moment was when he was challenged on Question Time to stand for Parliament, and he said 'I don't want to become one of them' as if he knew he wouldn't be able to stand up for his own convictions. The great thing about these individuals is that they eventually drown in their own hypocrisy.
  22. The key games will be Spurs at home and Everton away - the other games I am confident we will win without too much of a problem. If we can go into the Citeh game in with a shout, you never know! If Utd come out of their next 4 fixtures with four wins then hats off to them and well done. But I think they are a very limited side and if put under pressure at the back will buckle. I would be delighted with a Europa League spot, but I would be doing a pretty spectacular dance on the beaches of Bulgaria if we somehow do the 'impossible' and get into the CL.
