Didn't Marian play in the 17 shirt?

As someone who has taken great glee from the Skates recent demise, I do feel the OP is a legitimate question. Personally my concerns are somewhat diminished by the TV money, and the fact that we are currently supplementing home grown talent with very good players. However it woul only take a poor run of form/sever injury crisis etc to leave the team in a perilous position and through no fault of management or the players. I am delighted with the squad and the signings over the past couple of seasons, but never forget 2009 and never forget what has happened to the Skates!

Sat in the stands last night I was close to tears when SRL made his debut...when he scored I went proper mental! The people around me were in no doubt I was a Saints fan (it helped that I was wearing the new away shirt). But the moment I lost all composure was hearing the English side of the stadium singing Ricky's name...to think that 4 years ago he was playing his first couple of games for Saints in League One and now he is hero not only to Saints fans but English football fans in general.

After Roma signed Gervinho, does this have any impact on Osvaldo's future?

As I have got tickets for Wednesday night I am blimming well over the moon! Any others on here going, make sure we get his song going, especially when he thumps one in the back of the net!

Interesting what some are saying about the lack of goals towards the end of the season. IMHO, I think it is mainly down to MoPo's tactics rather than Lambert or JayRod getting 'found out'. The biggest difference I have seen between Saints under MP compared to NA, other than the pressing - is how the fullbacks no longer commit to attack in the same gung-ho way. Certainly we are more cautious when breaking which has meant we have less supporting players SRL can bring in to play. I would also argue that SRL has played a huge mount of games in the last 4 years, with very little time out injured. A decent 10 goal a season striker to compliment JR and SRL would be all we will need (maybe another CB for strength in depth).

My wonderful wife bought me one for my birthday, which arrived today (fair play to Saints, she only ordered it at lunch time yesterday)...absolutely love it, mind you I am not a fat barsteward so it looks ok on me!

Contract had been cancelled according to OS

Does Gloucester count as Midlands? We like to think of it as South West or West Country, but as I am happy to be Midlands if it helps other Saints...

Went to Cayo Coco in 2006, absolutely gorgeous with stunning beaches. At the time it was the same price as a 4* trip to the Med...but since Fidel stepped down, market forces and the fact that Mexico is very dodgy has led to a bit of a price hike. I would recommend a couple of days in Havana too, we didn't go and regretted it after hearing about it from others in the hotel. Re the Canadians, they do fill the US void of ignorant loud mouths very well - mind you we seemed to be accompanied by half of the Bobby Moore stand when we went! The food (unless local cuisine) can be a bit tasteless but it is perfectly fine. However if you don't like rum you are going to struggle....I am now a total convert to Havana Club, oh and a good cigar!

Saints' kits through history (+other striped teams)
edprice1984 replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Interesting, Saints have certainly experimented more than most other clubs with the Red and White stripes. Since 1980 we have had several designs - my favourite is between 'The Sash' and our Championship promotion shirt. Don't understand the fascination with the Rank Xerox shirt, it is as much a traditional saints shirt as the new one. -
What a goal neymar....
-
Reserving judgement until I have seen the finished article. I would prefer the more traditional striped shirt, but not against a change for a couple of seasons. If it is the shirt shown then it will probably look decent on the players and those of us who aren't fat barstewards...so I will be ok then!
-
Sorry but don't believe that it is the new shirt. Potentially training shirt or something similar...poor quality photo also suggests that it is bull poo!

Talking of starts and run ins - Utd have got a pretty horrible start (no favours anymore, now that Fergie has gone)...but Swansea (A), Chelsea (H), Liverpool (A), Palace (H), Citeh (A). With the exception of Palace at home, it is conceivable that they could be struggling at the foot of the table. Watch them win every one of these by 4 goals now I have said that!

Signed for Dynamo Kiev according to BBC Sport

How do you follow the Saints when you're not in Southampton
edprice1984 replied to aussiesaint20's topic in The Saints
Only time I have ever made a proper effort to watch a game while away from home etc, was the Man Utd cup game (we lost 2-1 after Chaplow put us in the lead). Found random bar while in deepest darkest Essex (ok not quite Machu Pichu, but probably more dangerous locals!). Anyway although wearing the Sash shirt, managed to keep quiet and fairly anonymous until of course Chapper banged it into the top corner...then I became very noticable. The total silence apart from me doing my nut was hysterical - the problem was the plastics in the 2nd half when Utd brought on Scholes, Hernandez and Nani and scored the winner. A few muppets thought it was clever to get up in my face, I didn't react - just said that it must be really exciting to see a team that are probably going to win the Premier League sneak a win against a League 1 side - that annoyed them even more, which was when I decided it might be a good time to leave. -
If we signed Stefan Kibling I think I may do a little dance in the middle of my office! A silly silly rumour, but would love it if were true
-
This is now Lambert's best chance to be called up. Sturridge injured meaning we now have only Rooney (who looks like he can't be bothered), Welbeck (who has scored TWO goals all season) and Defoe (who has spent most of the season on the bench). I am not holding my breath, but you never know!?

I need to start watching Italian football. 90% of these players I have never heard of...Don't get me wrong once you do a bit of research they sound very good/should improve the squad but I do have concerns. I do still think you need a core of English/British players or at least players with Premier League experience, who understand the league and the supporters. Otherwise you could end up with 11+ mercernaries in the QPR/Skates mould. Personally my wishlist for next season would be: Vermaelan/Astori Ince Lamela (who after a little research looks mustard!) A N Other Striker...your guess is as good as mine

If Saints are playing this standard of football in the next couple of years, I think it will be safe to say we my win something!
