If Osvaldo had been playing well, scoring goals etc etc the situation with Fonte would probably have been handled differently, it may not have arisen at all. I am convinced that we will be getting a striker in to replace him (if he does in fact go to Juve) and I also wouldn't be suprised if we saw another defender too, maybe Astori (although that could just be wishful thinking). The great thing is we just don't know, the club - despite the recent turmoil and changes in the boardroom - seems committed to the secrecy and tactics of keeping signings close to their chest, which I actually agree with.

Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 2-2 SAINTS

Frustrating result, didn't do a lot wrong - apart from not taking chances when they came in the 1st half. Awful tackle by Brown on Gaston - and would like to see the Lovren incident again as I think Gardner may have stamped on his ankle...2 points dropped but after the week we have had not the worst result -
Ah well, fun while it lasted

Saw them at LG in November ..... Awesome!

Lambert brought on 73rd minute....scores winner 75th minute....National hero, goes to Brazil!

In more positive news France are losing! LOL!

Honestly don't know what game you are all watching, Lallana is looking very sharp - getting involved and trying to create something. Definately notice that Jay and Adam are playing the high pressing game, unfortunately the other players look like they can't be ar$ed

JWP is going to be a massive massive player. Certainly think he will be replacing Gerrard/Lampard after Brazil. Best delivery of a dead ball in the country, works hard, tracks and tackles - one element he could add is the Gerrard lung busting box bursting but if half the team don't pass I suppose there is no point. I can honestly see Clyne, Shaw, JWP and Lallana as regulars in the England Squad very soon - plus all the others coming up through the ranks....just wow!

These next 6 fixtures are very tough. But I am not too worried, I feel the team actually are confident of getting results at Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle. City look very beatable too. Imagine 10/11 points out of those fixtures...I'd actually start to worry that I was in a Coma....or dead!

Disappointed with the result but can't fault the performance of majority of players. Gaston and Lee didn't really help their causes and I thought Rodriguez could have done better, but good to see Reed, Chambers and Gallagher get appearances and they all looked very assured and comfortable. Once I saw the team and, more importantly the bench, I did worry where the goals would come from - I suppose with Osvaldo coming back from injury it would have been a little risky to stick him in (if fit). I get the feeling that if we had won tonight we would have seen a stronger side v Chelsea, but realistically when you look at the remaining teams in the competition we would have done well to have won it anyway! On to Hull, who I think may be tricky - it really depends on how Steve Bruce sets the team out, if they come to play I fancy a 2 nil win again.

In my defence, Alex Jones! Hysterically funny that the Skates got waterlogged, although does the yellow card for Bradley still count? Genuine question

Twitchy Satchel face on the One Show, incredibly they actually referred to his court case - but good ol' arry managed to turn the whole thing into a bit of a laugh.... C***!

Even with a weakened cup team, I would hope we batter Sunderland in a couple of weeks! I actually think the Fulham game is actually more important. Today was a gimme, if we lost no-one really would bat an eyelid. If we can win games against the likes of Fulham consistently, Europe will be a realistic target -

Saints playing for England (and other internationals)
edprice1984 replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
Last post.... Interesting all the stuff people are saying about Rooney. I agree that he hasn't hit the heights that were expected of him, but he has now scored 6 goals in last 5 games for England, most competitive goals for an England player and only Lineker scored more World Cup goals....not bad for a player who peaked at 16! Saying that I would love to see SRL to get on and grab a goal... Kyle Walker is a kn*b, stupid yellow -

How many times have we seen teams 'park the bus', I agree that we could do with a little bit of invention - the biggest problems for me is Gerrard, who slows everything down...also think we could do with switching Townsend to the left, and maybe bringing on Lambert instead of Welbeck would be a good move if we are still 0-0 in the last 20. Overall though England aren't a bad side, we just aren't a great one. -

Sorry, but England are playing well - high pressure when we lose the ball and starting to find room as the Montenegro side tire. Rooney should have done better, but feel that we will come good in the 2nd half -

Wasn't Nugent a Championship player when he played?
