  1. Just got some very strange looks from colleagues as I nearly destroyed another keyboard at work....managed to utter one word through the laughter and tears of joy....Pompey! They all just smiled a knowing smile and got back on with their work...
  2. What is 'impressive' is that they have managed to avoid any detection for over a week. Bar the images of both of them on the ferry there has been no concrete sighting (apart from some random women in The Sun). He is obviously not using a credit/debit card as the companies would be able to track the use of the card. They don't have their mobiles as they were confiscated by police, ironically if they did have them, they would have been caught by now - can track them.
  3. Always found it very annoying when we lost to Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc - having to go to school on a monday and get loads of abuse. Living in Gloucester meant that I was also surrounded by Villa fans, grand delusions that they are/were a big team. Quite enjoyed Saturday night sending a few texts out, unsuprisingly I didn't get many friendly responses - and when I did they seemed more interested in the Birmingham game
  4. Hypo, just a throw away line. As you say, no-one has suggested that. It is an interesting topic, organisations such as the FSF are useful to have around, if nothing else they often have decent contacts within the media and can lobby and bring issues that effect fans to a wider audience. If these issues get press, something is normally done. In terms of Saints, as I stated previously - we just need to be constructive rather than moan and whinge for the sake of it etc. I think we probably agree with each other on most Saints things, I maybe slightly more optimistic...
  5. On the subject of safe standing, I don't really see the point. FSF do tryto help fans and it is a bit poor that Saints haven't updated their website to include their club charter, but in the grand scheme of things this isn't the most crucial news about the club that we will see this season. As long as we constructively question what the club are doing (unlike the skates), personally that will do for me. Talking of which, have there been any candlelight suppers with the Don recently?
  6. I am not worried for two reasons: We have just played the top three from last year, yes the Arsenal game was not great but I did expect that we may struggle there. Our next 5 games are all winnable/we can pick up points Secondly we look like we can score goals, yes our defence is suspect at the moment but we have played 3 of the top 4 attacking teams and Wigan. If we had taken our chances against Wigan we would have won. Plenty of time, very much like the beginning of the -10 points season the first win will be the spur for the rest of the season.
  7. I don't have a problem with Reading or their supporters. Yes it was funny when they all came out of the woodwork at the end of last season, but tbf I have met lots of 'Saints' fans in and around Gloucester since we were promoted that were nowhere to be seen two years ago! The only set of supporters (other than the Skates) that I really have no time for are the Plastic Mancs who refer to themselves as the collective 'WE' when discussing Utd and the teams results/performances. You know that these people have not even set foot in Manchester, let alone been to a game.
  8. http://marching-back.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/gutted-is-understatement.html It has taken me a week but I finally got round to re-watching the game and finishing off my latest blog. I still defer to the brilliance of LeagueOneminus10 - it never fails to make me laugh
  9. Everton at home in 2005...sat in a pub in Swansea with two or three other Saints fans. No-one said anything for about an hour, then my best friend said..."We're gonna get relegated, aren't we?" Everyone just nodded. Derby in the playoffs was horrible, but I felt proud that night we did everything we could to win it. The game on Sunday was bad, the only difference was that I felt it was coming (it is Utd and they always do that etc etc) so the pain was short lived. The most gutted I have ever been while watching a match live was Villa at home in 2005. 2-0 at half time only for Lee Hendrie (of all people) to spark Villa back into life and win it 3-2. I knew we would go down then, I can still see Olivier Bernard NOT TRACKING BACK!!! The lazy c***!
  10. I am sure I read that our agreement with Umbro is up at the end of the 2012/13 season.
  11. Ramirez, woah, Ramirez, woah He comes from Uruguay, His Mum makes all the pies* Ramirez, woah, Ramirez woah! * In reference to Gaston coming from Fray Bentos -------------------------------------------------------------- Alternatively could we work in the Disney Gaston tune with new lyrics?
  12. Stoke is really full of ugly people!
  13. Shame the Skates are out then I fancy a midlands game so Villa, Coventry or Wolves (should they get through)...Not WBA, I think they will be targeting a good run in the cup.
  14. It's all gone quiet, which means it's done and dusted. Just need to be patient and wait for the announcement. I reckon it will be tonight
  15. Surely you should know, you are in the future!
  16. Fair enough as we would only have 3 days to prepare for Utd...Now we can have 5, with most of the 1st XI rested
  17. If anyone is interested... http://marching-back.blogspot.co.uk/ Update on Gaston and Citeh game - Wigan and Stevenage games will be sorted by the end of the week
  18. Hopefully the US will think that this is some sort of Al Quaeda training camp and bomb the f***ers into the Sea!
  19. The article can be found here: http://www.saint-malo.maville.com/sport/detail_-Stade-Rennais-Jean-Armel-Kana-Biyik-Une-defaite-et-on-va-demander-la-tete-du-coach-_fil-2201389_actu. Which translates to: How does it feel to see your name mentioned with several major European clubs? I don't really think about it. It's good It's true to be associated with bigclubs. But this doesn't keep me awake at night.
  20. I've been reading this thread all week and it gets funnier every post. If he signs, brilliant - if he doesn't I will be disappointed but not too worried. I don't doubt that some deals have gone t*ts up in the past due to NC not taking **** from agents/managers/chairmen, but equally it is also obvious that certain deals have been completed because of the way we do business. Looking at all the stuff coming out of Italy it does appear that they are playing a bit of a game, they are financially screwed and are trying to squeeze as much cash as possible out of Saints. I imagine NC has now probably set a deadline, hence all the new talk about 'other targets'. Holloway's comments about Phillips may show that we have stepped up an interest there (that is solely based on my opinion, I have no factual basis for that). I still think the Ramirez deal will go through, probably tonight. But if we haven't heard anything by the end of tomorrow it is fair to say that the deal will be dead and we have moved on.
  21. For people asking how good he is... I went to the GB v Uruguay game and he was excellent. Their stand out player and everything that was good generally came from him! Can't believe we even went in for him, let alone look likely to sign him. Definately the biggest signing since I have supported Saints (1990). He basically kept Bologna up last season and ended up pushing them to 9th. Obviously some players struggle to adapt to English football - but he has been superb in Italian football (a hard league with lots of hard challenges) and we play a style of football that should suit him. For example if Stoke City signed him I would say it would be the biggest waste of money in the history of football. COYR, please please pull this off!
  22. I have no idea what is happening! Seriously are Saints about to spend over £10m on a player who is wanted by Spurs, Liverpool et al!? I think of myself as a realist and I do worry about us spending sooo much money - but holy cr*p!!!
  23. This! The longer this situation goes on, the more and more it begins to resemble the final fate of Maidstone United. I fully expect the football league will drop the equivalent of an Atom bomb this afternoon/evening. They need an absolute guarantee that the Skates will be able to fulfill their fixtures...unless Birch employs JK f****** Rowling (as above) he won't be able to convince them..... But of course this is the PST and we all know that logic and reason do not exist, forget the Island of Dr Moreau, this is the freakin' Island from Lost!
  24. I believe that Birch would get paid from the revenue that came out of the asset stripping. Although I am not sure tbh.
