  1. I think the idea is, as Nigel has repeatedly said, to buy players who will grow with the club. If we'd bought a Darren Bent type player for 'a significant investment' and progressed slower than we'd hoped (i.e. lower table for 2 or more years) then that player in his prime would look to move on to gain more success before he starts to decline. An extreme example of that is RVP - undoubtably a highly talented player who's looking to move to from Arsenal, a good team but not highly successful in recent years, to a top, top team to win trophies before he gets too old. Jay Rod may get 6 or 7 goals this season, but next season with a year of top flight experience and coaching under his belt, he could get 10 or 11. The year after that as the club pushes on, he could get 13 or 14 goals. These are players who all have great potential and will only get better as time goes on. To survive in the Premier League this season it's not absolutely neccessary to have a 20-goal hotshot in the team, it's more about the team itself and being solid. As we push on and look towards challenging for Europe, those goals will be more vital to compete in the upper echelons of the table. Goals which will be provided and scored by proper Saints players who have an affiliation with the club, not Bent-style mercenaries.
  2. I much prefer Heroin myself.
  3. I'm fairly certain an Illuminati-like organisation exists. Rihanna's probably just trying to be clever though. And failing.
  4. If you had a loaded gun with 1 bullet in it, and you were locked in a room with Skyler from Breaking Bad and Lori from The Walking Dead, who would you shoot and who would you bludgeon to death with the butt of the gun? (Note: Shooting yourself is not a viable option)
  5. Seaborne going out on loan would be good for him and the club, I think. He gets first-team experience with a view to breaking into our squad when he gets back from being on loan. We get the opportunity to bring in 1 or 2 CBs so that we can survive the season comfortably and establish ourselves as a Premier League team, which is mutually beneficial. So, now lets sign Curtis Davies and/or Niklas Moisander please Mr Cortese!
  6. Breaking Bad - Dead Freight (S5E5) Holy f*cking sh!t. This show just gets better and better, then it blows half of a lead character's face off and continues to get better and better. This episode centered around the methylamine problem encountered when the gang discovered that their supply line had been effectively stopped as the barrels had tracking devices on them. The only solution? Hold up a freight train. This show specialises in leaving your jaw on the floor after the episode finishes, and this one is no exception. After last week's "...and wait until the cancer comes back" soliloquy, this ending will kick you right in the balls. Guaranteed.
  7. £50 is a lot of money, but City are cashing in on the fact that they're champions now and more people will be likely to go and see them, and we're playing one of the biggest matches in our history - our first game back in the Prem. It's justifiable in some instances.
  8. Gary Neville has a strong feeling we'll stay up this year. Relax folks.
  9. Excited. With a few more additions that NA and NC are looking to get in I reckon we'll have a decent squad. Most of our team is untried at this level, but i've got faith in their ability. Still think we'll finish somewhere between 12th-16th.
  10. I went to the Liebherr Cup and the Ajax game, but having just shelled out £525 for a ST and then £80 overall for Man City, forgive me for not going to any more pre-season friendlies. We're trying out new formations, new positions for players etc. Remember how sh!t we were during Wilkins' few games in charge and the first few games of Adkins' reign? That's what we're going through now. It's a period of transition but I think this new formation will be better suited to the Premier League.

  12. Blackpool are a decent club, just hate Holloway. The human definition of giving it out and not being able to take it in return.
  13. Not sure if this has been mentioned already and it may well be old news, but Adam Blackmore replied to a tweet about NC confirming that he was abroad, but not necessarily on holiday. Possibly meeting with 'new investors'?
  14. According to the Mail.
  15. Bloody Socialist rats.
  16. I think I would DIE if I met Jim Brennan - OMG! Either him or Andrej Pernecky.
  17. Shame, Trotter would be a fantastic signing for us.
  18. Obviously we've realised that our pre-season gates are poor. Anyone know if they'll be showing the Olympic football at SMS?
  19. Thinking of left backs that could go on loan - Danny Rose? Plays better on the wing but has been switched to a full-back recently. Could fill 2 positions and is a good, young British player which fits our transfer policy too - even if it would only be a loan.
  20. I'm not saying that they're great options for a starting berth, but I think we'd be fine if we signed 1 more CB who is of equal or better quality to Jos & Jose (sounds like a sh!t 1970s cop show). 3 good CBs are fine for the time being at least with Seaborne or Stephens to come in to cover if needed.
  21. Jack Stephens - Young, promising CB who can also play at full-back. Our options aside from Fonte & Hooiveld are limited, but it's not like they're the only 2 CBs we have at the club.
  22. Agree with Smirking Saint, Fletcher is a very good player. £12m is overpriced, but I guess that's what you pay for a British striker in his prime nowadays.
  23. Watched Letters From Iwo Jima again last night. Great film. Clint Eastwood had a great idea to do 2 films from different perspectives of the same military engagement, this particular one focuses on the Japanese soldiers fighting guerilla style from their caves, whereas Flags of Our Fathers focuses on the American GIs landing on the island and storming it. The film definitely isn't short of grit, which is a good thing as the actual events were so grim and stomach-churning that the film had to accurately portray that feeling of dread and terror. Flamethrowers, bayonets and grenades abound, but the acting is of a very good calibre and my particular favourite aspect is that it doesn't go down the route of "Look how bad all the Japanese were", as a lot of other films have done, but it shows splits in the ranks. If you like WWII films and haven't seen this, watch it. Just be warned, it's more than a little harrowing.
