  1. Just got mine with my mate, Block 38 Row OO Seats 999 +1000.
  2. His name's Steven Davis He puts up a real good fight He's going to be snookering you tonight He's famed for his aim and You'd better believe we're right He's going to be snookering you, snookering you tonight DA-VIS! No need to thank me.
  3. Oh, the irony.
  4. Just came back from Sunny Beach in Bulgaria, had a cracking time. Never done a 'mates holiday' before so was a good experience. Hope you have a good time MiniB!
  5. Reminds me of an extra on the DVD of "Knowing Me, Knowing You" where he's filmed taking a ramble through the Norfolk countryside. Lots of pathos, not too much in the way of catchphrases etc but still very funny. I liked it.
  6. Well, quite frankly I don't mind the kit. I'm sure it will grow on us all as the year goes on. 4 years ago we may not have had a club to support, and now we're complaining about the kit despite achieving back-to-back promotions...FFS.
  7. Just got back this morning, had an amazing time. Prices apparently not as cheap as in previous years (mostly around 10lv if you're going for a cocktail somewhere, although BG beer was still pretty cheap) but still low enough to warrant 11 days of debauchery... Stayed at Hotel Marvel, right up at the top of the strip. It was about a 20 minute walk to get into town itself, but that didn't really bother us and the hotel was stunning. Great pool, spacious rooms and balconies overlooking the sea (well, parts of it anyway). Ended up in Central Bar most of the time, which was a pretty decent place. Drinks were generally sh!te in there, but getting plastered on the cheap at a nearby bar was never a problem with promoters offering us free this, free that as we walked past. Great atmosphere in most places, only saw 1 or 2 fights the whole time and one of them was when a ****ed up One Direction-a-like tried to start sh!t on a bouncer after getting kicked out. Turns out, he could've avoided the fight if he'd just slipped him 10lv, which is what his mate did when he was kicked out a few minutes later! All in all, great holiday although i'm not convinced that I would go back. For one, the prices will be much higher next year, as everything seems to have been raised by about 20% from last year. Secondly, the new bars and clubs which were opening up were huge, soul-less monstrosities (avoid Disco Orange at all costs!) and they're going to take all the business away from the smaller places which are far better.
  8. Subsequently bought the album In Our Heads and have had that on for the last few days. Have to say that it's outstanding. Hot Chip are definitely one of the best bands out there atm. The post I quoted I now slightly disagree with, Night & Day is actually one of the weaker songs on the album I think. Maybe it was placed poorly in the tracklist, between the atmospheric "These Chains" and "Flutes". It just sounds a little out of place on the album. Have a listen to it for yourself, the two tracks mentioned in the last paragraph are my favourites, but it's very hard to pick out a poor song on this album. All killer, no filler!
  9. I saw this last week, thought it was alright. Characters were a bit hokey and some of the set-plays were a bit rushed (the mutant Geologist coming back to the ship to attack the crew especially, thought that could have lasted longer and been quite exciting as a plot device). I didn't quite get why Scott decided to make Idris Elba (ship captain) and Rafe Spall (goofy biologist) American, given that they're both from London. Elba was great as a Baltimore drug baron in The Wire, but making him some New Orleans ol' blues boy didn't quite work for me. Given that most of the crew were British (or pretending to be) he probably could've let them retain their accents and given their characters a bit more realism and made them more convincing. Overall I thought the film was quite good, not as bad as the fanboys make it out to be, but not great. Could've done with slightly more gore and suspense (actually thought the caesarean scene was quite tame!) and more screen time spent in the temple rather than flitting between that and the ship as often as it did. Best bits were Fassbender (calculating, slightly malevolent and cold) and Charlize Theron (although side plot with daddy issues not really that neccessary). I'm not overly enthusiastic about a sequel (another prequel or parallel to original film?) mostly because the Space Jockeys were so f*cking boring, a whole planet of them would make me want to kill myself! 6.5/10
  10. All players from Europe.
  11. Well I am spending the "bank holiday weekend" working. All 4 f*cking days. I don't give a flying f*ck about those horse-faced toffs or their party, but I am annoyed that I won't get to have a nice relaxing time after finishing my exams.
  12. This is why my family never really eat together, we argue.
  13. Gordon represents more value for money though I think. Free transfer so no huge fees to worry about, only signing on bonus, agents fees etc which probably wouldn't total more than about 100k. The prices being quoted for Butland are in the millions though. If we're looking at this purely from a financial perspective then Gordon is the obvious choice to sign ahead of Butland. Obviously JB has bags of potential but given that we're being quoted £7m for Jay Rod (which it seems that we're paying!) what would we be quoted for an 18 year old goalkeeper who's going to the Euros? My Brum mate is saying now that Carson Yeung's assets and businesses have been unfrozen (meaning Brum have the disposal of his cash) they won't be rushed into selling. He has a serious chance of being a #1 keeper for a potentially promotion-winning team next season. I would take that over a transfer to be the 3rd choice keeper at a club which is of a similar size. Like somebody said above me, we'll probably sign 2 keepers anyway. I would feel uneasy even having Forecast as 3rd choice... If we sign Gordon to battle KD for that starting berth and then a young keeper to cover them and be the future #1 then I will be very happy.
  14. Guthrie would be a great signing.
  15. Yeah, no problems agreeing terms (£27k p/w with generous app fees, wage rises and TOTY bonus) but just can't get a work permit as i'm in the Champ. Will have to try and sign him again after we get promoted this season. Currently got: GK: Jung Sung-Ryong (£1m) RB: Kevin Foley (£2.5m) LB: Ayoze (£2.2m) CB: Jose Fonte CB: Craig Dawson (£1.2m) CM: Jack Cork CM: Guido Pizarro (£800k) RW: James Forrest (£3.6m) LW: Adam Lallana ST: Rickie Lambert ST: Jan Chramosta (£5.25m) Subs: Espen Ruud (£1m), Michael Bostwick (£1.3m), Morgan Schneiderlin, Giannis Fetfatzidis (loan), Billy Sharp. Sitting comfortably in first in November. Ought to walk the league.
  16. Oh, Steve de Ridder handed in a transfer request 3 days after the game f*cking well started because he said he wasn't playing enough first team football. At that point we hadn't even played a bloody pre-season friendly! Couldn't talk him out of it either, he just got angry with me...
  17. Hot Chip's new single Night & Day is f*cking quality.
  18. Graeme Jones wouldn't be a bad appointment imo. He obviously needs backing but he's a great coach so could be a good manager. He nearly joined my 2nd team St Johnstone after Derek McInnes left to join Bristol City but we couldn't agree compensation.
  19. I can never get a f*cking work permit for Kara, incredibly annoying. He's such a quality player.
  20. It was probably just that, a rumour. Shame because I really rate him. If we ship out a CM (Hammond, Chaplow etc) then he would be great to bring in so we can rotate our centre midfield with more quality. Imo we also need someone to provide some strength and bulk at CM as well. Hammond plays that kind of role but I think he's too lightweight to be effective at it in the Prem. Someone like Birmingham had this year in N'Daw, big strong bloke but can pass the ball quite well too. I would love us to sign Liam Trotter, think he'd be perfect for us.
  21. Given the lack of veg people with kids buy where I work, no it's not a weird thing.
  22. His eyes make me uncomfortable. Seems like there's no emotions behind them... Still, f*cking funny bloke though.
  23. Rickie Lambert before we signed him: - Overweight and unfit - Scored goals in lower levels but hadn't played above L1 - Patchy career in a number of positions - Released from a few clubs - Approaching 30 years old Jay Rod now (i.e. before we sign him!): - In his early 20s - Key player for good club over several seasons in the 2nd tier - Good physical fitness - England youth player - Scored goals consistently in 2nd tier - Potential to improve Obviously I might be being a bit harsh on Rickie there as I think he's a fantastic player now, but you can't really deny that without his goalscoring record in L1 he wouldn't be an attractive option. Thankfully we moulded him into a cracking player, harnessing his abilities. Now Jay Rod is already an impressive player at a young age in an established team. We obviously have quite a bit of cash being in the Prem now, which will influence what clubs want from us in terms of cash for players. Jay is being chased by a few other Prem clubs, as well as a few ambitious Champ clubs, which will drive his price up again. Burnley will also want to use his transfer fee to invest in the playing squad so that they can push for promotion and hold onto their other key players. I think the most important factor in the price we're being quoted is that he's young and BRITISH. If this was a young Italian striker from a team in the Italian 2nd tier we wouldn't be quoted £7m for him. British talent is expensive, and unfortunately if you want to sign quality young British players you have to pay a premium now. I'm not saying that we should expect to pay over the odds for players now we're in the situation that we are in, because Cortese won't run a business like that. However, the fact that he's put £7m on the table shows that we're thinking about the long-term stability of the club. We're not going to pocket most of the promotion cash and rely on loans and freebies like Blackpool did, we're going to build for the future and establish ourselves again as a Prem team. Sometimes you've got to invest heavily if you want a big return.
  24. I'd like to say a bit more about Marc Oaten, but I think it counts as defecation of character. Copywright Stewart Lee 2011
