  1. I know that Saga isn't in the plans, but I still think he's dangerous. He's not a Poland international for nothing! Connolly can't always play 90 minutes, and we still need a 'fox in the box' striker to come off the bench and worry the defence. Someone said about Papa Waigo and Lallana being strikers too, fair enough, but they are starting. I'm talking about having a fresh pair of legs to come on, and not to reshuffle the team. I still think we need an out and out striker on the bench, and Patterson and Saga are just rotting in the reserves.
  2. Probably line up something like -------------Bart------------ Thomas--Perry--Jaidi--Harding --------James--Hammond---- Waigo-----------------Lallana ------Lambert--Connolly------ Not entirely sure that this is our best team, and our bench looks incredibly lightweight. No sign of another striker on the bench either....suddenly i'm not very confident about today.
  3. Bloody nora, a bit of snow and everything comes to a standstill. How long before Ottawa Saint is on here telling us about the 30 metres of snowfall in his town last night?
  4. Haha, that's fantastic. Seriously though, how dumb of R5L, did they honestly think that a band such as Rage would refrain from performing the song the way they wrote it? Idiocy to put them on at that time in the morning on that show.
  5. A charity would be great, ala Barcelona (who have Unicef on their shirts). With Liebherr at the helm of the club, I don't really think we have that much of a need for sponsorship money now, and it would be nice to have something of more value to people than a budget airliner stuck on the front of our shirts. Don't Unicef get a percentage of the revenue from Barca's shirt sales as well? Would be nice to have a Southampton based charity on the shirt too, anyone know of any? Nicola Cortese apparently regularly lunches at a hotel near where I live, so i'll nip in and propose this next time he's around!
  6. 1x Standing ticket for Biffy Clyro at Portsmouth Guildhall on the 4th May 2010. Can no longer go due to exams (have one scheduled the day after - not such a great idea to go and see Biffy the night before!). Seeing as the whole tour is completely sold out, I might be a bit cheeky and start the bidding at £30. Not any tickets on eBay at the moment either, and some are selling for as much as £60 each at the moment for some venues..
  7. I think Pancake is either Simon Cowell or Joe McElderry. This is not a protest against Sony, or going against young emerging bands, this is simply a bit of fun. People are bored of having the same mongy X Factor song as number 1 every christmas, and they want a bit of a change. Killing In The Name is a fantastic song, and pretty much the polar opposite of the X Factor single. Personally, I actually quite like the X Factor. It may be melodramatic and campy, but I find it quite entertaining and it's a good piece of saturday night TV. Chill out, sit back, and buy 30-40 copies of the RATM single. It may be going straight into the back pocket of the record moguls, but who cares? At the end of the day, it's a bit of harmless fun aimed at showing people power.
  8. What he said. Snodgrass is tricky, but quite lightweight, so if we play Thomas to bruise him a bit, James can do the running for him. Sorted. 2-1 to Saints methiks!
  9. Priorities have to be a new RB, Murty is crocked and James won't be good enough to play at CCC imo. What about Kerrea Gilbert on loan from Arsenal? Played against Olympiakos the other night, looked quite assured. Would be a good move for him as well, because he's not exactly first choice right back at the Emirates at the moment. We'll have Wilshere and Ramsey too thanks Arsene! I think we also need to be looking at CB and ST for the January window. Trotman has done well so far this season, but if Perry is playing ahead of him at the moment then he's obviously not indispensable to the club. Jaidi is getting on a bit as well, he's 33/34 so how for long will he realistically be able to play 90 minutes, week in, week out? I've heard good things about Gavin Gunning at Blackburn, he's supposed to be a good prospect for them. However, he's only 5'10, so we need to be looking for a bit more height and strength at the back to replace Jaidi within the next few years (or maybe even at the end of the season). Holmar Eyjolfsson is worth a look at imo, he's not had much luck at West Ham with the likes of Upson staking claim to their centre back positions, but I quite rate him. He's versatile as well, and can play in front of the back four or in central midfield. Could be a handy loan in january to cover injuries and a fresh pair of legs in a team that have been fighting like dogs this season to climb the table. As for striker, this might be a long shot, but what about James Vaughan from Everton? He was on loan at Derby earlier in the season but got injured and went back. They want him back on loan, but as far as I know nothing has been agreed yet. He's young, pacy and strong too according to my Everton supporting mate. Patterson still isn't quite ready for me, and it's obvious that Saganowski can't be arsed to try and Pardew can't be arsed to put up with him, so he'll be gone in Jan. Vaughan could come in and bag a few vital goals for us, and he'd be a great signing imo!
  10. Cracking game that, the last 10 minutes was brilliant! That penalty was a difficult one to call, he was offside but Huth's tackle was awful, looked like it was 2 footed as well. And Sorenson about 20 yards off his line when the pen was taken as well!
  11. Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name
  12. To those who don't see WGS as a Saints legend, you are more than entitled to your opinion, but like him or not, he did lead us to an FA Cup final and our highest place in the Prem in a long time. I didn't have the luck to be alive in our best years in the 80s, but I was lucky enough to experience arguably one of Saints' best seasons in the last 20 years or so while WGS was at the club, and I think he more than earned his status as a legend.
  13. Put the Michael Kamen score on my iPod earlier, breathtakingly good music. One of the reasons why the whole series was so damn good in the first place!
  14. Anyone else hear some bloke laying into Beatts on the Guardian Football Weekly podcast yesterday? Apparently he's a 'failed footballer' who has never fulfilled his potential, and is sometimes 'as fat as a force-fed pig'. I'd love to see him back here, maybe at the end of the season. Bear in mind he's what, 31 or 32 now? He's not got more than a season or two left in him at Prem level, but i'm sure he could help us climb the table for another few years in exchange for a rather hefty pay packet.
  15. Maybe you should lay off the Red Bull for a bit mate.
  16. Seems a bit odd, I got £8.5m for the same expectations in the 2nd season. Methinks a bit more fiddling went on with his game
  17. GK - Ben Foster, Chris Kirkland, Paul Robinson RB - Glen Johnson, Micah Richards LB - Ashley Cole, Leighton Baines CB - John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott CM - Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Barry RM - James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips LM - Aaron Lennon, Ashley Young ST - Wayne Rooney, Jermaine Defoe, Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Theo Walcott/Gabby Agbonlahor And probably starting XI like: ------------Foster--------------- Johnson--Terry--Ferdinand---Cole ------------Gerrard-------------- Milner---------------------Lennon -----------Lampard-------------- --------Rooney--Bent/Defoe------ Subs: Everyone else. I think the diamond would work best for England, because it's the only way that Gerrard and Lampard can play together. I know Gerrard plays a more forward role for Liverpool, but aside from the defence he's the best tackler in the team. Not sure about starting Crouch up front, because although he's a good aerial target, I think Bent or Defoe would bring more to the team altogether. Rooney has to start, he's going to be key. Milner is having a cracking season, as is Lennon, and they both deserve to start over SWP and Young imo.
  18. Can't see us keeping a clean sheet, think we'll nick it 3-2 in the last 10 minutes. Rickie Lambert double and Morgan Schneiderlin with his first goal for Saints. Byfield will obviously score for them, jammy c*nt
  19. I spent so long playing that game, absolutely quality! Shame my disc split in two when I accidentally sat on it one day, I never got to finish the game Can we have a remaster/rerelease for all consoles please Sega?
  20. I'm bored, so here's my prediction: GROUP 1 Netherlands Australia Ghana Denmark GROUP 2 Argentina Japan Chile Slovenia GROUP 3 Spain Mexico Nigeria France GROUP 4 South Africa USA Cameroon Greece GROUP 5 Germany South Korea Algeria Portugal GROUP 6 England Honduras Paraguay Serbia GROUP 7 Brazil North Korea Ivory Coast Slovakia GROUP 8 Italy New Zealand Uruguay Switzerland The highlighted teams are the ones I think will qualify, and i'm fairly sure it will be a Spain vs Italy final.
  21. I tend to go for Simon Hunt on FM10. He's got good stats for an assistant manager (I tend to bring in some decent coaching staff too which makes up for his lack of coaching ability) and is useful to have as a talented scout too. Even if he is a bit of a c*nt
  22. He's scored a couple in their last few games actually, including a late winner diving header to secure their first home win of the season. I keep reassuring my Reading supporting mate that he will come good if they give him some decent service, but he maintains that he's awful. Wouldn't be too surprised if he went off the boil a bit having gone out on loan 2/3 seasons in a row and being told you weren't wanted at the club you were at. I think Reading are in danger this season, but Madejski isn't broke I don't think. He has got a lot of backing from the board, and they were a prem team not long ago, so investment shouldn't be that hard to come by working on the basis that we got a billionaire in League One! I agree with my Reading mate though, that they need to get rid of Brendan Rogers. Had one good season with Watford but is totally inexperienced as a manager, and hasn't got the experience and steel needed to steer a poor quality team away from relegation.
  23. I've not seen him play 'live', so I can't give too much of an in depth post, but I will say that the guy plays for a Serie A team for a reason. He's got talent, he is unpredictable on the ball, gives defenders a run around and tires them out. And although they weren't pretty, his goals earlier this season definitely acted as a bit of a catalyst for the team to put together some good form. Maybe Waigo should start on Saturday, ping around on the right wing, tire out the defenders, and then take him off and put Antonio on about mid way through the second half. My mind still isn't entirely made up about either of them, but I think Waigo has the pedigree (don't forget that Antonio couldn't get a game at struggling Reading, who seem to be playing half their youth team these days).
  24. I've been watching one of my favourite films again recently, and that is Starship Troopers. It doesn't take itself seriously, it's gory, funny and the CGI was actually pretty top notch for that time. If you've not seen it, get your mates round, have a couple of beers and stick that on the TV. You'll have a great time. 8/10 Too true! SPOILERS BELOW The whole film completely fell apart after we find out that Charlize Theron's character has powers too. While the first half was quite enjoyable, light-hearted superhero comedy/action stuff, it just turned into dross really quickly. I mean, really quickly. Suddenly, the acting actually got worse, the story dragged on the floor like an 80 year old's swollen ballbag and the whole thing got bogged down in the emotion that we were supposed to be feeling because they're long lost lovers or something...I dunno. I kinda lost patience with it at that point.
  25. Micky Finnigan is a god and his apple sours roxxors my boxxors.
