Stop spamming teh compootah gaymz bored ffs. -
I don't think we'll qualify tbh, we've got no chance against Holland. Unless of course, we end up playing the Netherlands U17s. In which case we might draw. Unfortunately the Macedonia result at the weekend has given the nation hope in Burley, which is the wrong thing. We need him out the door as quickly as possible to be with any chance of qualifying for the Euros. 4-1 to Netherlands imo.

The Cribs - Ignore The Ignorant Brilliant. Can't wait to see them in October!

------------Davis--------------- Thomas--Jaidi--Trotman--Harding Papa--Morgan--Hammond--Holmes ---------Saga--Lambert--------- Subs: Bart, Perry, James, Lallana, Patterson, Mills, Lancashire Quite similar to other people's ideal teams, which goes to show that the consensus is that we need to play Holmes and Papa on the wings to get any real width. While Mills looked good when he came on on Saturday, Holmes is more of an out and out winger, and his delivery is fantastic. He doesn't quite have the pace of Mills, but his crossing ability more than makes up for it. Having not seen Papa play, i'm not sure whether he'll be more suited to playing on the wing or up front with Lambert, but I think we need the pace on the wing more than up front, so hopefully if he can provide some decent service then Saga and Lambert can work the magic in attack. Hopefully a team like this starts on saturday, because we need to win sooner rather than later, and while getting a result against the most in form team in english football at the moment is going to be tough, it is still feasible, and for that to work we need to put out our best XI and get behind them. You lot going to Charlton, we need full vocal support for 90 minutes.

Surely it's "My girlfriend has got lovely leg" ?

I think the booing was justified, to play over an hour against 10 men and create hardly any chances and to put hardly any shots on goal at all was an incredibly poor showing. This is the type of form that will get us relegated, do people not see that? If we're still struggling to score a goal against 10 men by christmas time it will be too late. Rewarding that type of poor performance will just make the players complacent, and that's not something that should happen. We need to let the players and staff alike know that we're not happy with the form of the team of late.

Who else absolutely shat themselves when the commentator said that Perry had been subbed for Lancashire? Imo we need more width in the squad, there were some promising signs from Mills and I thought Thomson was decent when he came on, not deserving of some of the flack he's getting on here tonight. He actually ran at his defender, which is something that we've lacked in a winger for a while now. I agree with the 4-3-3 formation that somebody posted earlier, but i'd make a change if I could: ------------Davis--------------- Thomas--Jaidi--Trotman--Harding --Hamster--Morgan---Lallana---- Waigo------Lambert---------Mills Subs: Bart, Perry, James, Thomson, Gobern, Saga, Patterson The midfield 3 play predominantly through the center, controlling the play and involving Waigo and Mills in the play by short, simple passes to FEET, something we singularly failed to do today. We need to play it on the ground, and to do that we need to get players like Lambert, Schneiderlin and Lallana on the ball, as they were the ones that got the ball down and played it today. Failing that, we could always line up like this: ------------Davis--------------- Thomas--Jaidi--Trotman--Harding ---Lallana--Hamster--Mills------- ----Waigo--Lambert--Saga------ Subs: Bart, Perry, James, Thomson, Gobern, Lancashire, Patterson That would give us a lot more attacking options than just relying on Lambert to score goals for us.

Awful game, we really should've finished Colchester off when they got a man sent off but we just weren't good enough. Davis 6 - Solid, made some good saves. Could be quicker with his distribution though, and the long balls never worked. Thomas 7 (MoM) - Looked good at RB. Good tackling, overlapped well and supported Mellis/Lallana/Thomson. Harding 6 - Average. No real pace, did nothing outstanding, decent tackling but was caught out a few times by their No 7 (who was amazing I thought) Perry 6 - Again, average. Decent tackles, did not much else. Trotman 7 - Looked like a great prospect. Dominant in the air and made some great tackles. He's the type of defender we've been lacking in recent years since Claus/Killer. Mellis 5 - Some nice touches and bits of skill, but otherwise ineffective. Lallana 6 - NOT A WINGER. Pardew needs to realise that. Otherwise, okay. Only creative player in the team tbh. Hammond 7 - Strong in the tackle, made some nice passes and supported the strikers. Great signing. James 6 - Decent performance, did nothing special. Was worse when he switched to RB. Patterson 4 - Just awful. Didn't win a challenge or header, looked lost. Saga instead, please. Lambert 6 - Isolated, not his fault. Came back into the midfield and did some nice link-up play, but got into a goalscoring position. Subs: Thomson 6 - Ran at his defender which was great, that's what we needed. But came inside too often to get on the end of crosses and completely abandoned the right wing in the last 20 minutes of the game. Schneiderlin 6 - Looked okay, good passing. Otherwise, nothing else to say. Mills 6 - Again, ran at his markers but not that great. Looked quite pacy and could be good on the left, but i'd prefer to see Lee Holmes play instead when he's fit. Their No7 (Ashley Vincent) was great I thought, a really tricky winger with pace and was quite a strong lad too, so he got past defenders. We need a player like this in the next transfer window if Papa is to be played as a striker please.

Yes, it was a good time for Scotland before Burley took over. We narrowly missed out on Euro 2008 qualification in a group with Italy and France (the two previous World Cup finalists), beating France twice in the process. I had real confidence in Walter Smith as manager, and I was gutted when he left, but McLeish did a decent job too and kept the hopes alive, but when he went and Burley came in I lost all confidence completely. The Scotland squad you see now is nothing compared to the players that played their hearts out for their country in the Euro 08 qualifying stages, this squad is full of CCC players because that is the level that Burley knows. There are plenty of players in the Scottish leagues that are miles better than some of the trash that have been picked for the squad recently (Chris Iwelumo, Callum Davidson and Steven Caldwell spring to mind). Honestly, my pet dog could do a better job than him, i'm sure of that. The sooner that he's sacked, the better. He was never a manager capable of managing a team at international level and he never will be. And to see that he's got the seal of approval from Berti 'f*cktard' Vogts just makes it even more evident that he's gash. There are plenty of fantastic, young Scottish managers out there that could do a great job for the team. I would personally like to see Craig Levein installed as manager, because I honestly think that he's one of the best managers outside the EPL, or alternatively Gordon Strachan, who isn't young by any means of the word, but could really bring confidence back to the players and fans alike.

Saints 1 - Colchester 2 I can't help but feel we're not quite ready yet. The squad needs time to gel and Papa needs time to adapt to the english game before he can make any real impact. I think we'll start positively, but concede at around 10 minutes and lose confidence. We'll equalise just before half time via a scrappy goal from a corner but then we'll fall foul to a Colchester goal in the dying minutes of the game.

According to Football Manager 2009, he's bloody quick and is a natural right winger, who can also be played on the left. You might need to zoom in on the ol' screeny And before you lambast me for relying on Football Manager to judge how good a player is, the chief scout of Chelsea has admitted to using the database to find young talent and check attributes of some players. So MEH.

Petty arguments aside, I agree with what Bizzle is saying in principle. Gillett isn't good enough, hence why he didn't become a regular in the first team until he was about 22 (ie last season), unlike others such as Surman, who broke into the first team earlier than that because they had talent. Talent is the key word here, while Gillett's work rate is certainly admirable, and he is very tenacious, he simply lacks the technical ability to be a capable, first-team regular central midfielder. His passing is bloody awful, he lacks the height to challenge anyone except perhaps a leprechaun aerially and he has no real pace to shout about. In my opinion, he is a back-up for the squad and should be nothing more. If Donny want him, they are quite welcome to him as far as I am concerned, because I feel now that we have Hammond and Mellis (albeit only until January) we have at least 2 better options in the squad, not counting Schneiderlin and Lallana, as well as Gobern, who definately has the talent to be able to make it at this level. But just to contradict everything i've written in the last two paragraphs, he is still a lot better than Wotton, who we need to get rid of ASAP, even if it takes paying off his contract.

Not a film, but recently started re-watching 15 Storeys High, and I can't believe I was away for so long. When it was first aired I wasn't able to completely grasp the dark edge to the comedy due to being 11, but now I can appreciate it for the genius that it really is. Sean Lock is a quite capable comedy actor it seems, as well as being a great stand-up, and Benedict Wong plays perfectly off Lock's brash, abrasive character in a very 'Withnail and I' style. "She's got the fish-slice stuck in the wrong way round.....jesus christ."

No complaints from me, not vastly different from Favourite Worst Nightmare, but still good. Pretty Visitors is class. Had I not been on safari for the past week and a half, I would've been at Reading seeing them

Cov are taking all the good Chelski loanees, Cork and Van Aanholt are both quality We'll end up with the Chelsea equivalent of Ant Pulis if we find ourselves in need of squad cover this season...
-
Davis Murty Thomas Trotman Harding Mellis Morgan Hammond Holmes Lambert Rasiak Subs: Bart, Perry, James, Gillett, Thomson, Patterson, Saganowski Even with a squad like that though, I still think we might struggle against Brentford. I reckon 1-1 will be the final score.

The Cribs in October is going to be pretty immense. Haven't seen them with Marr in the band before, so ought to be good. Would've liked to have seen Jamie T and Los Campesinos! who are also playing in So'ton in October but both have sold out....bollix.

This leaves me thinking that while he may not have been 'world class' as he was billed by some nutter, Ryan Smith would've been good to have around this season. He had a bit of pace about him, quite good on the ball, has the ability to get past his man, but he always seemed a little hesitant to run at the defenders. Which brings me to my next point, Nathan Dyer would've been invaluable in L1. Dyer on the right with Holmes or Smith on the left would've been great, providing service for Lambert. Alas, it seems as if that will never happen. But surely AP has picked up on this and is looking at a winger, right? [-o
