Robbie Savage - Why its time to take Saints seriously
the saint in winchester replied to TopGun's topic in The Saints
Exactly why I won't be reading it. Let's start that sort of talk at the end of January if we are still top 4 then. -
Ger Rickie back on loan this january

We are looking for a player to deputise for Pelle. He could be a younger player going up the ladder, or a more experienced player coming back down. If we find a player BETTER than Pelle, then he would start over Pelle. So stop thinking "is he better?" because if he is, he won't want to come and sit on the bench or play selected games. You get me, it's important that you get me! -
Paul Mitchell To Leave Saints

Still puzzled as to exactly what his role was. "Head of Recruitment" - that's an HR function, headhunter to make initial contact to names given to him, an agency function, to set up meetings, to agree personal terms. I don't believe he "found" Tadic or Pelle as they were already known to Koeman. I'm sure he has good soft people skills and all that, but surely he will take on a similar role at Spurs making contact with the players on the list Franco Baldini gives him. -

Everton want to send Arouna Kone out of loan from January to get match fitness. Another target man. Everton striker Arouna Kone, 31, could be sent out on loan in the January transfer window as he aims to regain full fitness after a year out of action with a knee injury. (Talksport) -
I missed this little gem before. Just seen it. Sky Sports understands Portsmouth are set to sign Preston North End winger Lee Holmes on loan. Judas!!! And I doubt Pompey can even afford 30 pieces of silver!

Yes "the someone with pace to play off the last man" would be J-Rod ... or Shane Long. So shall we forget about a Pelle clone, and just work with what we have, for better or for worse? -
He's not even signed yet, and already you have the song sorted. Some people just have The Knack. My, my, my.... Sharona!

Or Emile Heskey. He would accept not playing regularly, and take £1k/wk !!! -

What about going for Darren Bent. BBC Gossip page today says he is likely off to Brighton on loan. Surely we could beat them to it. Good target man. -
Post-Match Reaction: Aston Villa 1-1 SAINTS
the saint in winchester replied to Plastic's topic in The Saints
Exactly. Can't decide if Toby pulled away because he saw Forster charging out, or if Forster called out.... but Toby was there and should have kicked it out even if they clattered together. -
Not even 'hit and hope'. More pass it around from left to right and back to the CD, out to the RB/LB and try to go forward ... no, back again. I was screaming at the TV for someone to take the responsibility to take a player on to create space for others.

Not a chance a bit part player would be earning £100k. Be surprised if was even £40k, but it may be. BR was clear that Rickie knew the role he was signing up for - last 10-15 mins of game, and occasional starts, nothing more. -
You can all come round my house to watch it.

Yesterday's BBC Gossip page had this gem of an idea. I wonder where they could have got it from?! If you have ipad, you can view yesterday's Gossip, but I can't from my laptop at work. As said above, coming back here on loan he would be deputy to Pelle now. Maybe get the final 10 mins if we are 3 up, but I don't see it as a viable option for him. -
Any excitement you garner in the build-up is dissipated by constant advert breaks. 3 minutes build-up, 5 mins of ads, 3 mins of build-up, 5 mins of ads, 1st half, more adverts, 2 mins of analysis, ad break, 2nd half, ad break, 2 mins analysis, end of transmission. When they cover games now, I join them 20 mins late already, then I can fast forward all the ad breaks! And yeah, Chiles and co are depressing.

Saints prepare new contract for Nathaniel Clyne

No, David, you are NOT alone. Nothing special about him. Usually 10 yard square passes and goes round in crop circles.

I thought the same! Saints rule!

That's actually a useful list to refer to the next time we debate 'who is a bigger club than who'. -

I'm actually more offended by this 'potential' signing than Spurs talking about a player we own! This is effectively tapping up, although I accept its just paper talk at this stage. -
comment withdrawn, having read later comments that clarify If Athletico can change their mind and then sell him off to another club for £20M then they will do that! However, if Toby wants to come and we want to buy, hopefully Athletico will play fair and honour the agreement we had.

I have always thought that if every other game ended in a draw, as long as we win then that has to be the ideal scenario. We are then +2 points on every other team out there! So this weekend: Sat 8 Nov 2014 - Premier League Liverpool v Chelsea Draw 0-0 Burnley v Hull Draw 0-0 Man Utd v Crystal Palace Draw 1-1 Southampton v Leicester COYR! Home win 9-0 West Ham v Aston Villa Draw 0-0 QPR v Man City Draw 0-0 Sun 9 Nov 2014 - Premier League Sunderland v Everton Draw 1-1 Tottenham v Stoke Draw 1-1 West Brom v Newcastle Draw 1-1 Swansea v Arsenal Draw 0-0

Got my ticket(s) this morning. The only area with 2 seats together was in the Northam. I got the above message as well, which seemed pointless as there aren't/weren't 2 seats together in the Family Stand anyway. Unless you want to sit your nipper 5 rows away from you on his own, you can't take them up on the offer.

Now Poch having a pop at Lamela, his best player so far, for going to the loo at HT!
