  1. Agree that £10M for a player that his owning club was pushing from pillar to post at the time seemed unreasonable, but putting that aside, I think 'if Shaw was worth £30M, is Bertrand 33% as good as Shaw?' and the answer to my musing question is 'yes, more than that' so now £10M for this level of LB looks a snip of a purchase .....if indeed we do go ahead seems a very REASONABLE price to pay. £27M in, £10M out, £17M into the bank. I'm happy with that.
  2. Spurs fan I spoke to said they always play badly after midweek Europe games. He expects us to have the edge. Now revising my hope from draw to win, and expected result from loss to draw!
  3. I wouldn't want him if he offered to play for £20k. Career off the rails by diving and inactivity.
  4. Yes I was listening to them too. It's good to hear the neutral viewpoint and you don't hear "what we don't want to do now, Adam ..."
  5. That#s pretty much where I am too. It was years ago. Suggest the tag should be moved to Pochiettino now. He did betray us for 30 pieces of silver!
  6. That did cross my mind as well. I was pretty pumped about going second. Imagine if we were top on Saturday; I'd be on gas and air!
  7. I'm not sure the Board wanted to sell off this summer. It was surely the players thinking they were now Champions League club quality and were determined to go. The first 5 games of this season should be a warning to our existing players that they are actually better off here than being a bench-warmer or left out or struggling in their sides, and hopefully no-one will stick their head above the parapet in 2015 and ask to leave. The grass is NOT greener elsewhere.
  8. To be fair to Luke, once he gets his chance he will take it and prove LVG to be wrong in pre-judging him. MU are weak defensively, but that's the CB's they let go and haven't replaced.
  9. Yes, in the press conference for the Swansea game, answered the question about Cork with "no talks planned; will look at it in Dec/Jan". FWIW, no doubt in my mind he is a valuable player.
  10. Agree. Probably one of the worst attacks I have seen. No attempt to play the ball, eyes on the man and deliberately charged him, with a vocal war cry! Straight red for that. The 2nd challenge, also a red card, two footed and a potential ankle breaker. I was left wondering whether he had history with Yoshida, or the Ivory Coast had history with Japan ... certainly this was a brutal assault, and my liking for Bony as a player was diminished after Saturday. I hope he uses his 3 game ban to reflect and adjust himself.
  11. Need to put out our strongest team possible and hope Wenger sends out a weak side.
  12. Good stuff, Norm. Don't lose them. Future generations need to see the ground from the start.
  13. They may have got away with it if you hadn't alerted the checkers by posting this message.
  14. Now we are going to be losing you from these boards, Irene, please take off the mask. Who are you really? You are either Boruc himself, or a mate of his, or Mrs Boruc or just a random Polish bloke.
  15. Lawro reckons we will win 2-1, Neil Lennon says we will lose it 2-0. Mind you, the credibility of both of them is questionable as they both think Newcastle will beat Hull. Can't see that.
  16. I'd rather have Boruc on the bench, to be used in the game, not a phone call away to be used in the next game! And Bournemouth would never agree to an immediate recall anyway. I hope this is an April Fool joke?
  17. Cheeky monkey. Of course its the strongest league in the world, as players come to play here. English players are not the best in the world, I grant you, but the league is top of the pops.
  18. That's exactly right. They can offer a little as they want, knowing they are the only bidders and we want to sell.
  19. Yeah, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain - they have spares, that we want.
  20. That's ok, I like girls. Can we all stop over at your place then, all 5000 of us?
  21. Most popular player and in line for Saints Player of the Year Award 2014-15!
  22. In a day and age when players and their agents want away as soon as possible, a player saying he wants to remain loyal is worth his weight in gold. Please don't delay, let's have him signed up. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/9472392/premier-league-southamptons-jack-cork-keen-to-open-open-contract-talks
  23. Exactly! Come on, people, be happy. We've never had it so good.
  24. withdrawn, full quote now shows
  25. Despite the cynicism of some, I welcome this news. He is as good as Forster for me, and I always wanted them to compete for the jersey and getting playing time each as the season develops.
