The End is Nigh. Free Beer Tomorrow.

This, as far as I can see. Approved and improved by Ralph. I have no idea what Matt Cash is like, but KWP is improving all the time. MoM a couple times. Why would we want to take another trialist, and one likely to cost over £12M?

Who do you want Promoted and Relegated?
the saint in winchester replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
West London derby. What do we prefer? Brentford win - Reed has a preference to stay with us? No Brentford players available for sale. Fulham win - Reed wants to stay with Fulham? Chance of pinching Brentford players. I want to have Reed back, so have to prefer a Brentford win. He's one of our own. -
True, of course, but did he not meet with Everton and agree a deal?
-
Hmm, interesting. Although, like you, I don't see the Express as being gospel truth, I do think we need to set a deadline for Tottenham to make an acceptable bid. If they don't come in with that acceptable bid, then sell him to Everton for £25M and MOVE ON to our recruitment plans. If we sit on our hands, we'll miss out.

Yeah, we look back and think 'how did we do that after being low end until then?' and I think we caught a lot of teams out with our fitness and commitment. It seems a few clubs took the view that the final 8/9 games were an inconvenience before next season started. However, Ralph took it as a chance to make a statement. But I think we'll all be starting on a level playing field next season. Anyone think we'll finish 3rd after a 38 game season 20-21?

Agree with that. We need a vocal experienced CB to take charge. Although I hear Stephens is pretty vocal, not sure RB would look on this 'young kid' as leading the group.

Hojbjerg: Official - Signs for Spurs
the saint in winchester replied to ecuk268's topic in The Saints
Hate to toot my own horn, but I did say it would end like this … Everton will drop out as it's clear he wants to join Spurs, and THFC won't want or need to pay top dollar. We are close to being between a rock and a hard place. -
They've now taken residence in a Winchester Park n Ride. Yes, Winchester. I've tabled a motion with the residents committee and the chairwoman has promised to consider it under AOB at the October meeting. Doh!

How much would it cost to buy the entire Brentford squad? £100M? Best game I've seen all season, last night's vs Swansea. Ollie Watkins is sensational. Benrahma very talented, but needs to remember it's a team game. But as a squad they would all fit into our style of play. High tempo, fit, breathtaking one touch passing, moving the ball around the opposition. I hope they come up, as they're a joy to watch. If not, some clubs (hopefully including us) will be looking at their squad.

What's the injury for these two respectively? None of you have suggested it's fake, so assume genuine injuries? I like both players, they're our game changers, but they haven't been available much.

Meeting / experiences with Saints players
the saint in winchester replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
Met Vestergaard a year ago (or was it two?) when we had just bought him, and hadn't kicked a ball for us. Outside, in the restaurant area, below Showcase Cinema. He was out with his lady, getting to see Southampton, night stroll. Was probably surprised when a guy he had never met said "Hi Jannik. Welcome to Southampton. Hope you have a good season." He just laughed and said "ok thank you." I bet he tells that story on a Danish message board to this day. -
Final Barclays Manager of the Month - Choose Ralph
the saint in winchester replied to le_tiss's topic in The Saints
Ralph or Ole, surely. Based on ratio of success as a % of value of talent, I give it to Ralph. -
You've got it now, MLG. Southampton is higher grade than Berlin, as we have Hamble and Warsash-by-the-Sea.
-
In all seriousness, what about his previous partner in crime, Chris Smalling. CB who can play RB, tick. LeG excited. Tick. Out on loan from Man Utd, leesee can't afford to buy him. Ooh, I can do this ITK stuff too.
-
Duh. Do they have a West Quay in Berlin? Exactly.
-
If they really ARE going no higher than £15M cash for PEH alone, and want £10M for KWP, then £5M for TA - I would accept that valuation. That's Spurs' valuation, however. I would value PEH at £25M, KWP at £5M and Toby at £10M, so I'd like another £10M in readies. However ... Let's get whatever deal done, get clarity and move on.

Man Utd to win (if they replace the GK). Saints top 10 finish, oh yes.

Players you would sign from relegated teams....
the saint in winchester replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
So we reassure him he IS one of the starting two, then he signs the new contract. After that, Ralph can check him over and decide if we need to strengthen. -
Yeah, that's what I thought too, after LeG's update. So, LeG is excited, and I would be too, if it were to be Toby. Toby it is (official update …… not!)
-
Ah ok, thanks Clarkey.

Tuned into SS Mix for our game .... Roy Keane waxing lyrical about the Liecester v Man Utd game, and now an interview with Mason Flopping Greenwood. Checked I was on the right channel - I seem to be. When are we going to get into the Saints game? 3.30pm : "meanwhile, we have a game at St Mary's this afternoon" to the view of Roy Keane losing interest ...

Hojbjerg: Official - Signs for Spurs
the saint in winchester replied to ecuk268's topic in The Saints
His comments on hoping to join Spurs may lead to Everton withdrawing their offer. Then Spurs come in and offer £15M, and with no other offer on the table, we will have to accept that. So, not sure we hold any or all the cards here. -
I believe that is the deal. That he is regular starter not a squad filler. He will likely come down on his wages to compensate for that guarantee.
