Summer 2018 Transfer/HCDAJFU Thread

So has Usain Bolt! Are we in for him? -
What about that fella at West Broom that Burnley clearly covet? Oh what's his name - Rod something? £18M should secure him. Oh the irony.
-
But ... (and I am just putting the counter argument here, not my own opinion) .. we have just been offered £10M for a bench player. We have to sell to buy, and that £10-15M (if we make them a counter offer) would allow us to bring in a striker. Where do we see our greater need - a goal scorer, or another water carrier? My own opinion FWIW - turn it down, we're not selling him.

Let's hope he reads the Express! https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/999198/Callum-Hudson-Odoi-Chelsea-Eden-Hazard-Community-Shield Maybe we can tell Chelsea that to facilitate Hudson-Odoi's development, we can take Hazard on loan instead -
They didn't. The comment was related to the Celta Vigo game he went to.

That made me giggle.

Summer 2018 - Other teams Manager/transfer business

Shouldn't we at least put in a note of interest? I know it would be difficult to land him, as another London club have offered, so less disruption to his home life ... but I feel we should try to get him. -
Saints vs Borussia Mönchengladbach - Match Thread

Re Hughes : Yeah, this. He has signed a 3 year deal and we can't afford to pay him off early, after doing that for Puel and Pelegrino. We called for an English manager with an English style of play. We have that now. -
That was me. My work colleague Matt coaches kids soccer and his comment was the midfielders didn't do their job. They seemed to see themselves as either attackers or defenders and left 50 yards of the pitch available. No challenge made until 20 yards out, and by then they raided mobhanded. He did give honourable mentions to "the tall lad you brought on at the end" (Gallagher) and the little redheaded fella who was on the right (Harrison Reed? could be Matt Targett?) Yes, it's only pre-season but we should be getting the basics in place by now.
-
That's Carillo. Doubt we can talk them into taking another one on loan. Unless we have something unseemly to tell about Pelegrino that we will reveal if they don't take Forster?
-
My Spurs-supporting work colleague took his lad to SMS last night. He's a youth coach so I was interested in his feedback, having read the comments on the match thread that the defence looked shaky. His comment was that the defence was sound, the problem was the midfield which was hopeless, allowing the oppo to attack our defence at will. Said the "bald headed lad seemed to playing on his own" and that "once your attack broke down, no-one seemed to challenge the oppo" until they were around our penalty box. Always interesting to get a neutral's view.

Come on guys, Fraser just needs confidence, a manager who trusts him, fans who believe in him and don't jeer when he's between the posts. If he goes on loan and gets all this, he could be back to his best.
-
Haha, maybe better to rename it to "not long left" to save daily changes.
-
So far its their 4th choice keeper they are trying to register. But if he isn't that good, they will look to bring in a higher grade keeper pronto.
-
Forster, Hart, Karius, Mignolet ... there are lots of candidates

ANY 20 goal a season striker has to be of interest to us. -
Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester

He didn't eat there, after looking at the menu board. I don't know if he moved on as he didn't see a low fat salad on the board, or felt uncomfortable because a middle aged stranger addressed him by his name and wished him well! -
Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester

I was eating (al fresco) at Byron, new West Quay development last night. when who should come up to the menu board? As this thread is themed Jannik Vestergaard, there's your answer. Slow walking through with his missus. I called out to him, greeted him and wished him well for the season. Seems a nice fella. -

That's hopelessly cheap for Mawson. We have strengthened at CB, but surprised at that low price. -
Hmm, if they would take him even on loan for 6 months, and assuming (big assumption) they will pay 100% of his wages, we would have to consider it.

Agree with points 1 and 3 - spending a wedge of cash on another GK when we still have Forster seems irresponsible. And agree I would look to bring Pied back if we can. Don't agree on Stephens, though. Season before last, he and Yosh acquitted themselves well. -
What about Joe Hart too? I think he may be ranked higher than Forster.
-
I don't think Heaton is out for long, was just a muscle strain in the warm up. They have Lingergaard too. I can't see Burnley being in the market.
