The Mark Hughes Effect...
the saint in winchester replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
This. I genuinely would like an answer to this question, above all others. Yoshida is a leader and a warrior and should be in the starting team, over Hoedt. -
I don't know the reason, but it's bizarre that Yoshida isn't in the starting 11. At the mildest, one can only conclude Hughes doesn't rate him.
-
Not a wind up, Doddy, my honest frustration. It's a squad game these days. MH seems to think he only has 14 players at his disposal.
-
What a predictable line up! Same old 11, and the same old 3 subs will come on - Ward-Prowse, Gabbi and Austin, although the order is unknown. I honestly wouldn't blame everyone bar this 14 if they asked to leave on loan or be sold in January. Does Hughes not value rotation of a squad???
-
Surely the point of friendlies is to give chances to those who have NOT had chances previously, rather than stick with the tried and tested? There are now precious few 'pure friendlies' so Waistcoat has missed a chance to have a look at "other options." And a time may come where such players decline call ups to simply train with those who will play.
-
From the title, I thought this was going to be a thread about a second Channel Tunnel or a 22 mile bridge? Apparently not then.
-
Hope so! It's a friendly so rotate the squad and give others a chance to impress.

It's no wonder we are keen on Danny Drinkwater. -
Mine failed as well, first time around. If you go to your settings and confirm your payment account/card then it goes through second time around.

For heavens sake, hug it out. There's more that unites us than divides us.
-
I didn't think it was particularly deliberate. Admittedly I have only seen it once, but having heard on the commentary it was "the most obvious handball you will ever see" I was expecting him to have caught it and held it.
-
So what are to conclude here? From comments above .. "his head is gone" and "confidence is shot" .. sounds like he is medically unfit to perform his duties? Can we retire him, and claim on medical insurance? There has to be another option to us simply paying him his weekly wage until the expiry of his contract while he never works for us again. Offer him a "compromise agreement" (which he can reject, of course) and allow him to re-train for another career?

Take a bow, son, that is a golden post.

There you go, Lawro, I fixed your comment for you.

Carabao Cup draw - Round 3 - Everton (a)

It's in my post history pal. But it's time for a change. What should I go for next? Can we make this a poll? -

That's the spirit. Glass half full. Hopefully they send out the kids for this one, we send out the men and the job's a good'un. Bish bosh, round 4 home to a minnow. Lovely jubbly. -
Make that three go out.

Haha, this!

I don't think I have ever, in 25 years, booked through a tour operator. Always booked flights and accommodation separately. Tend to use a flight booker site (eg skyscanner) and then use booking.com or hotels.com or homeandaway.co.uk etc for accommodation. Always have travel insurance (annual policy) and arrange my own transfers, booked coach or unbooked taxi if nearby to the airport. Often hire a car, but try not to, then don't have the stress of unknown roads and can enjoy a few glasses of wine in an evening. I know you're asking us to suggest places to go, so .... We like Golf del Sur at Tenerife, plenty of accommodation, 15 mins in the taxi from the airport (€12), plenty of bars and restaurants, sports bars for the footie, and a bus ride into Playa de las Americas for the shopping.

Pleased for Luke Shaw. He has endured public criticism from a looney manager and omitted from the side, yet has applied himself to be the best he can be, and has won over club and national managers. Well done, Luke. And well done, Alex. Despite Southgate damning him with feint praise (inferring he doesn't have much to choose from) Macca has proven to be one of the best keepers in the EPL.

Now being sold for €20M. Have we missed out? Maybe the resurgence of Redmond means we can say 'no'.
-
Huh. So Hughes says "no-one will be going out" (see BBC Gossip today) and then one goes out!
-
Then we should have put in a sizeable bid for Shaquiri who has these qualities.
