Villa next. That’ll be the gauge of where we are currently.
-
Burnley are the Stoke of the 2020s.
-
Fouling bastards. Hate Burnley.

Just as I was leaving work, my colleague had put the game on his iPad, and as soon as I saw the corner I commented that the wind would take it in. If I know that, Ings should. However it was still freak and he’s been blameless this season otherwise. Boufal going off is a shame, I was listening to Talksport on the drive home and it sounded like he was having a cracker. I’d take a draw today, the weather sucks. Get the win against Villa next...

I hope it goes ahead. I need all the money from my insurance bets to fund my boob job on Monday. I’d like to see Djenepo do something today, even if he only has a cameo. He started the season well but has suffered since his injury and Armstrong’s strong form.

I think it will be a higher total but have worked it out as 38 (not that it’s an exact science!). Bournemouth who I think are in real danger of going down, are on 26 points and relegation form is around a point a game. With 12 games left to play for them, that puts them on 38. It’s very possible it could be higher though, Watford have stalled slightly in their new manager bounce but have the players to fight, West Ham have the best team on paper (but some god awful fixtures they need to get some results from), Villa seem to want to make a fist of it also. If we keep playing well we will be fine but need those 7-9 points for comfort. As for Shane, I would totally give him a year contract, maybe with a second year on condition of games played or goals scored, but I’d be hasty about giving him a two year deal. His legs could go in that time and we’re left with another old crock sitting on a big salary that we can’t do anything with. And what if Ings leaves in the summer for big money? Suddenly we have his less-good strike partner left. Can Long be improved upon? Yes. But I’d give him a one year deal before finding out.
-
Even at 33 he’s as fit as he ever was and is key to the way we play, and seems to have a decent partnership as foil for Ings. (As long as we can keep hold of him next season) If we can’t get someone better, then I’d give him a new contract. But only for a season, and he might think he can get a two year deal elsewhere.

Vestergaard in to counteract their long balls?
-
A win puts us 3 points behind 5th place. Let’s concentrate on that European spot! (I found some happy pills.) Good to hear about JWP. Would have been a huge loss for the season. KWP debut?
-
Just found out I can make the Norwich game if we get through. Which means it’s not meant to be... Come on Adams...
-
Armstrong for Boufal. How fit is he...
-
Would love Adams to come on and score a winner here

Right back will be fine when KWP and Valery are back, but we will suffer in CM now. Who else can play there? We have Hojbjerg, Romeu and Smallbone now. Armstrong or Boufal? I guess Danso can play there as was reported when he signed but with now only 4 centre backs in the squad, of which he is one, that would leave us short there. I’d almost swap losing tonight for having JWP fit by the end of the winter break. I think Boufal might get a lot of chances for the rest of this season. Hope he shines. Decent ball for our goal too.
-
Good job we didn’t sell Romeu. Bloody good chance for Smallbone now this season.
-
**** Vestergaard on, Stephens to right back? JWP, Ings and Stephens - we were always in trouble if we lost one of them this season...
-
Not over this game. Heads up lads.
-
He’ll be “in form Danny Ings” to pundits for the rest of the season even if he doesn’t score another goal.
-
No Lo Celso for them tonight is big for us. They’re short of attacking options. Also Tanganga has been decent since making his debut this season at CB but he’s at LB tonight seemingly so we should be looking to exploit that. Strong side for us, every chance we could win tonight. Well done Ralph for taking it seriously.

I've been having a read of the Gillingham forum and it seems Alfie Jones is having a good season down there, but is playing as a defensive midfielder. One or two of them say he's destined for bigger things. I wonder if he'll ever get a chance with us, or like Harrison Reed be loaned out until he's released. I guess if we go down/would have gone down him and Reed would have been in the squad but maybe we're a level above them now.
-
N’Lundulu has been injured hasn’t he? Sure I read it on here or somewhere. I’m quite glad Bergwijn isn’t eligible on Wednesday (and that we will have completed playing them this season.) Looks a player.

We sold a £20 million sell on clause in Bale's contract for Tommy Forecast and £3million. We've probably sold any future title clauses for a youth player we'll never see in the first team and a new sofa. Interestingly this article about the Bale sell on clause also says we had a sell on clause for Walcott if he ever left Arsenal. Granted they didn't get much for him from Everton in the end, but I wonder if we ever saw any of it?
