I'm disgusted at you SaintsWebbers. 15 posts since this was mentioned and not one joke about his name! Pig ignorance if you ask me. :-)

Worst case scenario planning: If SRL suffers a serious injury.
SNSUN replied to Giordano's topic in The Saints
This. I don't for a second think we'll see the window shut on the 3rd September without another striker in the ranks and I'd quite happily put money on that. This is now a well run club that would not make a silly error like that, and looking at our aim of signing Damiao shows that we're interested in bringing another striker in. All the bedwetting about the striker situation is premature. We still have a couple of weeks before the season starts and a whole month before the window closes - as it stands we're fine for what we have, so even if we start the season with the current crop of strikers it won't be the end of the world. As per the OP's question, if Rickie got injured tomorrow, we'd still have JRod, Mayuka wouldn't be sent on loan, and Guly can play up top too. Worst case scenario we chuck someone like Jake Sinclair in there. If he DID get injured tomorrow though, I would expect we'd very swiftly pull a loan striker or quick transfer out of the hat. The time to panic over the OP's question is if it happens on the 4th September AND we didn't bring anyone else in. Then you can worry. I can't see that happening though. My thoughts on it are that football fans love a transfer in general, and as Wanyama signed quite some time ago, that we're all craving another. -
Bringing out their own aftershave so anyone can smell of fish?

You can use the letters of West Bromwich Albion to spell out "bears". I reckon you have a hidden agenda Bearsy.

Which of course means they won't win it, and we have bragging rights. Not that that will stop them having a go at us though - the old "tin pot" trophy line will be uttered if that happened. The fish are fighting back..

True dat.

>> It was Sheffield United >> I remember that game. We had quite a few injuries iirc and were all expecting a defeat. A completely freak result.

I've seen Bialkowski and Gazzaniga play. As back up, I was more confident in Bialkowski, although I understand Gazza is still young and learning. Both made blunders - I remember Bart's against Blackpool - Callum McManaman scored through Bart's legs. Who'd be a goalkeeper eh!

The team I chose is based on what I believe Pochettino would choose. Davis and Jos were both first choices at the tail end of last season, although I agree both could and probably should be upgraded upon. -
There's thousands of strikers in the world - I'd rather we signed one of them. There's no denying Remy has talent, but he also has baggage, is a money-grabbing crapweasel and could potentially cause disharmony within the squad. Not for me ta.

Thanks! That answer's the question I've never got around to asking...

Always good to learn more about Saints history. I'm usually confined to Duncan's books to learn about our past.

Bale would still be here if then was now - says Ward-Prowse

Last picture in that article. I believe we haven't seen as many transfers coming in this summer as we thought because we're planning on using the youngsters more this season. I saw JWP play against Man Utd in the early stages of last season and thought he looked very composed. Him and Shaw will have a big part to play this season. It'll be interesting to see how much we use players like Isgrove and Chambers though. I'd love to see a winger like Isgrove come in and nail down a spot this season. (Much as that would annoy Puncheon...) -
PutTogetherIn2MinsXI will pwn this league. (And for the first time in years I've excluded Lampard, who has always been a trusty points scorer for me.)

I reckon the next week goes as following: 1) We sign a striker 2) We get all excited for a day and post about him and feel good about ourselves. 3) A day later we all go back to moaning about the lack of creative attacking midfielders in our squad and lack of centre backs of good quality. Typical football fans really! Let's hope we bring in that striker at least - I can actually see Lambert playing behind a striker...
-
A completely inadequate replacement for Oxlade-Chamberlain, (you could say we still haven't signed one, although Punch has improved) but in the grand scheme of things it didn't matter, as we still achieved promotion. Had he been with us as a youngster, I reckon we could've nurtured him into being the player we so hoped we'd signed when he arrived. Still, best of luck in your future endeavours.

I think we should trump them and sign Justin Bieber. I'm not sure how good a footballer he is, but he can't be much worse than Anthony Pulis..... can he?

I'd use the wet shave on them, but my Parkinsons makes it dangerous... :-D

No armpit hair. *****es need to be groomed, the younger they are when they achieve this the better. I'd even groom the young ladies myself if it means starting them off in life correctly. Having read that line again, I believe it could be misconstrued...

Still too early to tell IMO. As it stands though, our strongest team is: Boruc, Clyne, Lovren, Jos, Shaw, Morgan, Wanyama, Davis, Ramirez, JRod, Lambert. Whether that's what happens depends on illness, injury, how far they are into pre-season and of course transfers, both incoming and outgoing. To conclude with my first statement, it's still too early to tell.
