  1. Fond memories of Chris Nicholl and his team's. He was the gaffer when I started watching Saints as a 9 y.o. 1st game beating Liverpool 4-1 got me instantly addicted. Can anyone fill me in why he left? Did we not finish 13th or something in 90/91 and fan's were on his back? Mistake in hindsight?
  2. Good result for us. Finish our chances would make it a great result. Only saw the last 30 mins but looked very hungry and organised. Hopefully we use this as a springboard. We have every chance to get to the final which would be amazing.
  3. excellent news we may add another technically sound but average short midfielder to our ranks. This will compliment the best midfield options in the premier league anyway right les? FFS Can't shoot? Excellent - sign here pal! Hopefully bull****.
  4. Slightly disappointing, but no surprise at all. If decent bid maybe best for both sides. Been a great servant and great player for us, however this should allow us to get a younger replacement. Only interesting thing really is LR saying extention + raise and Fonte saying just raise. Hmmm.....
  5. Fair play, gutted for you to watch those shocking "performances"
  6. Another awful 2nd half, no faith in this regime. Puel out. Recruitment has been poor without a doubt. Last January we had wanyama and Romeu. We also had Pelle & Austin and we all know Austin has some historic injury issues. Boufal has great potential but Mane was on fire and fit. those are huge misses. i feel the club is at a crossroads
  7. Not sure if verified, but Hull fans saying Sebastien Haller was at their game last night.
  8. Puel too negative against the better sides & results speak for themselves. Sit back & better sides punish you, poorer teams find it difficult to break us down. needs to be more positive against the better teams.
  9. Andy Townsend said the same about Boruc. TBH I thought it was a load of ******** - then again i'm not a keeper.

    Jay Rod

So happy for JR. I hadn't given up on him but felt regular games on loan in January would be a no brainer for all parties. A loan would have been last chance saloon. Perhaps Austin's injury could be career defining for JR? Poor finishing aside vs Stoke and Boro, he has shown improvement over the last 3 games culminating in a great 2nd half on Sunday. What a goal that was too! Hopefully he can kick on from here, has always been the archetypal confidence player.
  11. *off
  12. To be fair, don't really rate Gazzaniga but think that Forster's was worse. The opposition is pressing him harder and the ball takes a big jump of a divot.
  13. All our kits are the same old template, just with different colours. Bland, like our football at the minute.
  14. In Claude's view we win by default with 90 % possession.
  15. I agree
  16. He beat a number of players last night with skill and trickery, it was after he beat the player that was the major problem. Slowed the play down, took way too many touches, delivered a very poor pass or cross. Sims had a poor game but has been great since he came in, hence he has a few credits!
  17. I must admit to being rather disappointed in Puel's style of play. Best football in Ligue 1 we were told. His set up is very negative and dull to watch, which invariably becomes EXTREMELY frustrating to watch. Just like his demeanor in presser's which leaves me borderline suicidal. Thankfully he shows much more passion on the training pitch and on the sidelines. Think he needs more time before we start calling for his head. The club need to take responsibility with their poor recruitment this summer and must add some attacking flair in midfield and a bring in a decent striker in January. Still think we will finish midtable which will be a regression, only way we will see progress will be if we win a cup.
  18. I'm going to re-name him Redmond ten touch
  19. I like Redmond but not convinced he can play as a central striker. That said, we are more 4-3-3 at the moment and he is rarely central. He has been extremely frustrating to watch in recent weeks, but I can't help but think it is partly Puel's fault in over relying on him. He is not, and never will be any near Thierry Henry's level. I think he needs to be taken out of the firing line more often, he is far from the finished article. He has good potential but we need to use him more sparingly.
  20. Thanks for providing your insight AllSorts, true fan's are behind all the academy lads. Some will fall by the wayside but hopefully retain a pro career, some could end up at Real Madrid! Personally would love to see another Matt Le Tissier of course!
  21. Yoshida has had a few good games this season and has really benefited from the rotation policy, however he is not as good as Fonte. No chance.
  22. Fonte has kept a dignified silence when clearly things have clearly not been rosy. What he has said as always has been straightforward, fair and to the point. He has never been disrespectful to the club or the fan's unlike certain former hero's. He has been a fantastic captain and servant to this club and deserves as much respect as Rickie Lambert imo. I am disappointed but not surprised by some fan's comments. Hopefully I am not made to eat my words, but stay or go that is how I see it.
  23. Great news, always thought he showed potential and he grasped his chance with both hands.
  24. We are bang average this season and negative. We won't go down, will be midtable been pitiful away from home this season. Unprofessional performance against a poor side. Similar game to Hull. So many poor performances today. Special shout to Forster and Hojberg who has been generally poor since the 1st month. 3 goals as poor as you will see. Boufal one of the only bright sparks. Cedric good going forward. Can only think golden boy Redmond is blowing Puel.
  25. Who would have thought after Sparta 2 great wins and performances. Seem to be playing more 4-3-3 now which see's a central striker, best role for Austin and Long imo.
