  1. I found the bit about Cedric - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-34884849
  2. Any sweep on when he firsts breaks down?? I'll go for 2nd competitive game.
  3. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Cedric can be faster than Long.
  4. Well they seem to have fallen from being tied in with Liverpool to us. But what i find interesting is if this forum offers a small snapshot of our supporters, is that there seems universal disapproval and that there is a pride amongst supporters of "The Southampton Way" - still undefinable but I agree that it entails the values you raise.

If anyone touted an average of 80% returns let alone "up to 900%", I would think that that was too good to be true, which means......
  6. While we like to think our club takes the moral high ground by not jumping into bed with flagitious companies, it really doesn't. I noticed at the last game all these signs for our official betting partner. We are the same as all the others, save for that our main sponsor isn't a gambling company.
  7. Anyone know when the home tickets are being sent out. Bought mine 10 days ago and might have thought they would have been sent out.
  8. Pelle still being picked for Italy, and scoring.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CPoAoroTY
  9. Battyman - agree. When I watch the national side, I want to be entertained, and I'm just not getting that. 1st half, I fell asleep. Now I am so bored with this game that I am looking other things to do.
  10. TBH the Sikh vs Muslim problem has been played out for many years in Britain normally via (street) gangs. For example, and not so much gangs, this happened 9½ years ago: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/southall-sikhs-attack-muslims-in-feud-1269779.html
  11. TBF, the rules are an ass. Halsey has said that he was asked to say that he hadn't seen something so retrospective action could be taken. Just change the rules so that retrospective action can be taken, even if the ref has seen it. With the benefit of video, anything and everything becomes a lot clearer than a split second in the heat of battle where the ref might only see something out of the corner of his eye.
  12. A captain needs to have ever so slight modicum of diplomacy, as in fact all employees should, but more so the captain. That is the problem here.
  13. Captain....to me you need to be an automatic starter and AFAI can see, we have 3 + Boufal. They would be Forster, VVD and Tadic. Even then Tadic might not be automatic. So that is down to 2 and as I think out field is better than goalie, so that leaves VVD. People might say that Fonte is an automatic starter, but if his head isn't right and he is going to angle for a move, then maybe Yoshi would be better!!! Yikes!!!!
  14. Director's loans also need repaying (maybe).
  15. I wouldn't go as far to say that it annoys me, but it is somewhat irksome that someone with obvious talent and the world at his feet just pîsses it away with a really crap attitude.
  16. In all honesty, I really don't care how he comes across on the screen. All that is important to me is how he and the players communicate.
  17. Glasgow, as you started the thread and are still conjecturing, I have to ask whether you have contacted the club to ask?? If not, why not?
  18. Netherlands 1-2 Greece http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3770540/Holland-deep-doldrums-discontent-coach-Danny-Blind-grows-fans-clamour-return-Louis-van-Gaal-ahead-tough-World-Cup-qualifying-campaign.html Could they?? Would he?? Not van Gaal but Koeman!! Not sure whether Ron is happy with EFC's "ambition" or not, but would be hellish funny if he quit to take the national job.
  19. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3769634/Premier-League-sides-admit-paying-way-odds-players-selling-clubs-dominate-market-craziest-transfer-window-yet.html I guess this is fairly spot on. I do love this line though....Those who already laud the arrival of Paul Pogba at Manchester United may wish to wait until they see the Frenchman play against someone other than Southampton and Hull City before they decide that £89m was a judicious investment. I look at our 3 main arrivals, and do think that we probably overpaid, but not in the same league as others. Boufal @ £16m - maybe £12m might be better (3 years on contract - MV £11m) Hojbjerg @ £12.8m - maybe £9m (2 years left on contract - MV £5.1m) Redmond @ £11m - maybe £8m (1 year left on contract - MV £6.38) The MV is from transfermrkt, and I realise is a little meaningless - eg VVD is at £10m. Looking at the price of Redmond with 1 year remaining being about the same as we sold Wanyama for, shows that we prob overpaid Redmnd and undersold Wanyama a bit. But really. I am glad that we didn't spend £30m on anyone, or even £20m on Berahino.
  20. Watching the game on Saturday (Sunderland) it seemed that there was one person head and shoulders above the rest acting as a captain should, and it sure wasn't Fonte.
  21. I look at Leicester and wonder whether they have something in common with Leeds, although I realise that there is more money around these days.
  22. £100m + £50m Stones + £75m Lukaku = total kitty of £225m to spend & top 4 wasn't it?
  23. https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/forums/everton-forum.2/ seem not to be too happy wit their window.
  24. The same as if we had kept Mané
  25. Maybe I am wrong, but I see that our fans have 4 concerns.... - Lack of height that Pelle gave us - Lack of physical presence that Wanyama gave us - Lack of creativity and pace that Mane gave us - Lack of misplaced flicks, back heels etc that Pelle gave us Height. Pelle is 6cm taller than Austin, and played a role that held the ball up better as a target man. Mobility wise I don't think we'll miss him but as a target man I think that option would have been useful. I still don't think we can judge Austin on what we have seen so far, although far too many seem happy to write him off completely. And that magnificent chest of Pelle's..... It was interesting listening to some pundit about Spurs' transfer window and Wanyama. He said that he was not an improvement over Dembelle and/or Dier. So yes, while his presence will be missed (that is when he was actually on the pitch and actually giving a ****) I am happy enough with Hojbjerg, even if he plays in a different style. I think it safe to say at the least, that he is a more intelligent player. Boufal by all accounts (other than those on this forum) is highly regarded. Some even say that he is better than Mané. I am sure we will see, but if he is near Mané then we will all be happy. As for him missing games for AFCON, it is worth remembering so would Mané have. I seem also to be the only person who thinks that Mané was a JRod replacement while he was injured. There is of course that big question as to whether JRod can get back to where he was, but it is worth remembering that he would probably have gone to the World Cup and that Spurs were seemingly desperate to sign him. The flicks and misplaced passes. Going by last weeks game, maybe Davis has taken over that job.
