Nathan Dyer accused of stealing mobile phones and cash.
-
Is that the poster on the other thread well before you?
-
Maybe, but he was brilliant! What a player - bit daft though - "Charlie, Charlie give us a wave" and "One man went to mow, went to mow a meadow"
-
Behave - you're not supposed to have those on here 🙂 I'd still settle for 10M for Bed - even though it's not my money or call!
-
Again - not a pop but I would be stunned if we got 40M for Bed - really would!
-
Not having a go - it's all about opinions at the end of the day after all, but I can't see how MO is worth anywhere near 20M? I would take 10M for him and 8M for Reed, and if Bednerak can be shifted for 10M, then get Hinterlagger (or whatever his name is) and I think we would be sorted. MO will not be a regular in our team anytime soon (not less than 3 years at minimum). A decent box to box MF would be cherry on top, but none of the one's mentioned so far, and I think we would be priced out of a decent upcoming one. Would take a punt on Ramsey on a pay per play deal (yea get he's not our profile and all that, but for a year or two he would be good and might coach WS etc.)

Yep - you're right! Just my senility catching up with me. Remember buying a ton of then as an excuse to ask the girl in the news shop out - finally plucked the courage and all went well for a year or so until I moved to Uni and she dumped me for a local lad - no such thing as loyalty even in those days 🙂
-
Fair point and get we didn't have much choice, but my point was PEH (any remember the pop up sweets?) is not the die hard loyal Saints player some are claiming him to be. He did what was in his interest (as you say end of) - might have been more subtle than others but still manipulated Saints to his own end. I don't dislike him but he is no hero to Saints - that's all. Club feel disappointed by his attitude as well - hence the merest mention in the KWP announcement. Still that's the modern world of football I guess?.

What being rude got to do with the price of fish? This is a forum for opinions - if you don't like mine just ignore it! However don't be ignorant enough to think everyone has to think like you. Appreciate it's not your money so you probably don't give a hoot, but I do not want the club I support being taken advantage of (neither does the club BTW - and yes I know for a fact - again believe or not I don't really care!)
-
Agree. But why don't we tell Levy to do one! Either accept this as the final offer with 48 hours or crawl back under your rock. He's not a great business man - just a north London barrow boy - stump up on what a cracking deal for them or leave the game. He could end up messing up our entire transfer plans with his games. Tel Hoi - get Spurs to show they really want you, or accept the Everton (or indeed one of the alleged Euro offers) or spend the next year in the under 23's side - yes I realise we would lose him on a free but you need to make a stand or every other player will employ the same tactic. I can see us agreeing to 15m or less on the final day and no time to get alternatives otherwise (how long will Weston wait for us?). Show some balls Saints - otherwise utterly pointless in stripping him of the captaincy and leaving him out of the team etc.
-
And how many people on here were dishing out for us loaning him with an obligation to buy at £20M? Hindsight - if you could only market it 🙂
-
Yep - do like him. Just wondering though, is he that good or have we just had really poor RB's that an average one now looks great? One eyed man in the land of the blind and all that! Would any of the other rumoured targets be better? Wouldn't pay more than 10M for him though - him plus 25M for PEH would be a great deal.

Not that it particularly matters now, but I had two very bad experiences when we played Leeds in the 1979 FA cup semis - both legs, but the home game mainly. I was basically set upon and beaten to within an inch of my life, and only that a Leeds supporting couple dispersed their thugs that I got emergency attendance - was in hospital for a couple of weeks, and even now have the odd brain freeze. Obviously a minority of the scum fans don't represent the club, but still it's now ingrained in my association with the club. No apology from the club or plod (who tried to blame me for the incident) - fractured scull and jumped on from behind, with several witnesses and yet it's my fault??? Despite all this, I wish them well (as long as they finish below us) and hope they have evolved to respectability?

I suspect Salisu is done bare WP confirmation. We will sell Swan Vest - should have taken the £26M from Leicester in Jan, but guessing we can still get £20M or so for him. Bednarek will/should also be sold - he's just about ok but not a great CB - should get 5 to 7M for him. Use the funds to buy Salisu and one other. Stephens will be fine along side a dominant partner. Then hopefully one of the academy prospects come through to challenge to keep the rest on their toes. Oh also dump Danso - wages to fund new guys.

Get the reactions and on paper Adams should be miles ahead, but you have a forward mainly to get goals and Obi seems to have a knack of getting them even if his technique and fitness might be questionable at times. I am really torn over this - I so much want Adams to succeed and yet he fails time and again. I think Obi is a bit like a cheeky school boy and tries to get away with minimum effort but yet has more end product - so reminds me of Ted McDougall - did F'all all game but give it to him in the box and he scores! Need someone to get Obi in a better frame - and that's not Ralph - maybe Le God? Same mentality
-
Maybe, but very poor today. Hopefully just an off day, and he doesn't think he's done enough to have secured a move. Surprised he wasn't subbed. Deffo not worth £15M
-
Agreed. Reed as an option off the bench/injuries/suspensions would be good to have. Then see if given a chance if he can take it - like KWP and others. After all in this market, with what a year left on his contract, best we will get is £5M tops. Fulham are desperate to keep him, so he must be reasonable - maybe he has improved via regular games?

Think you know exactly what I am saying - if you don't agree with it, that's your choice, but please don't try and defend it with Gwent type examples - the more relevant question would be how many black people got stopped searched in Gwent v white? Just take London if you will - far more black people get stopped and searched than any other ethnic race - if you think that's fair, than so be it - just don't try and defend it. It may not be a great example but it's just an example to say people do get treated unfairly in certain circumstances - I am sure the police do not deliberately set out to pick on black people but it happens, and if we all just stood back and thought about it and asked why, and would I be happy if my daughter/son etc. got the same treatment, then maybe, just maybe we all get along better. No where have I said stop and search is racist - the disportioned use of it is a concern (at least to me).
-
👍 Well said. Problem is some people will simply not accept it. There are all sorts of prejudices that still exist today, some want to change it to make life equal for all, others don't for whatever reason don't, and so be it, it's their choice - just hope they are not victims themselves in future. Forget politics, groups, agenda's etc.All I would urge people is to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves that's all. Is it just a coincidence that more black people are stopped and searched in the UK than any other group even though they make up less than a quarter of the population? Maybe, but I suspect rather not. That is not to say you stop using "stop and search", just that you maybe apply it more fairly. I'm sure I will get abuse for this posting, but I would suggest you have a long hard look at yourself in the mirror if you think it is wrong not to treat everyone equally and fairly, and that that is happening right now.
-
Ok whatever. The point is it happens and most of the time people do it without realising - i.e. not at all meant - which is just as hurtful. Let's just see it from the other person's viewpoint and respect all. It's not just race either - some people with red hair get tremendous abuse and bullied - why? There is absolutely no need for it, everyone is different in some way, just respect that and get on with what is at the end of the day, a short enough life.
-
Don't confuse the sentiment with the politics. This is not about supporting the BLM politic group - which I admit has some dubious aims, rather this is about supporting equality for all. I have seen at close hand so called institutional racism, and it exists - from talking slowly and loudly to a black person to being asked "where are you really from" etc. etc. Maybe it was the wrong slogan, but this is not about supporting a radical or political group, rather about treating everyone as you would want to be treated yourself - but I guess that is not a catchy phrase??

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m
Red replied to The Odd Guy's topic in The Saints
I'm not sure why it's so strange - not having a go. It's simple, like most (if not all clubs) we want/need a loan to smooth out our cash flow - particularly in these times, as we do not get all our TV money etc. evenly on a weekly/monthly basis, but the outgoing are. All this is for now is that we have a better loan deal from MSD than we had from the previous guys - so nothing to see here. Having said that, once a relationship has been built up and if they like the cut of us and feel there is an investment opportunity down the track (1 to 2 years), they may well want to invest in a share or outright buyout. This is what happened with Sunderland - they loaned them money, but in the final analysis did not consider them a good investment. MSD have no equity in Saints whatsoever, unless the loan is secured against assets, which may be the case but that only comes into force if we default when instalments are due. This is why they can make loans to several clubs at the same time. Still no harm getting exposure to an American lending institution - makes you wonder why Mr. Gobbledegook couldn't (and yes I know he was Canadian, but claimed to have a lot of US contacts). -
From some of the comments on here , it is very clear racism is very much a problem - and I don't mean the overt racism of the far right etc. Problem is even the most well meaning individual seems to have an almost inbuilt "awareness" that different people are to be viewed differently (mostly with suspicion) - be honest, what was the first thought in your mind when you last walked past a traditionally dressed Muslim with full beard etc. (certainly I was not comfortable and had my guard up) - this is institutional racism - most people don't deliberately and consciously do it, but it happens. The BLM hopefully raises this awareness - that's all - it's not a threat to anyone - just a point to try to make us treat everyone equally. Of course all lives matter and there are plenty of injustices in the world (a starving white child is no different to a starving black one), but this is not a competition - let's just treat everyone as we would like to be treated ourselves, and I will be the first one to admit this is not easy when you come across some real low life scum (of all colour).
