It was Targett and not Davis. He had to move across from the left to try and cover but was overloaded by the two or three Everton players coming at him. He takes a step to his left just before deciding that he needs to get across to Lukaku which leaves him a fraction late to make the tackle. There is only a fraction of a second at this level to decide what to do and he needs more experience so that his positioning becomes instinctive. This move came direct from one of our corners which was poorly delivered (Davis?). I agree with the rest of your analysis. -

I agree with the first part but not with the second. -
We all sit in the stands.

I agree. I was watching some of the recording again yesterday (not nice) and it was noticeable how many times we were caught in the break from one of our own corners. Poor delivery didn't help either but it was obviously a deliberate tactic by Everton to break out quickly. What is disappointing is that we didn't adapt our play accordingly. -
Brilliant, but can we afford it?
-
That explains it. A very poor decision from the assistant.

I would think so. The TV schedule has been announced and the first game of the Europa League proper is 17th September. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/broadcast-schedules.html -
That was last year, so far he's two out of two. It's no fault if his that he's not up to the job yet, he can only do his best and if the management choose to play him then he's not going to say no. He may very well turn out to be half decent one day but at this level we can't afford apprentices who are still learning their trade.

Kingsland, row O, halfway line.

Would that be the right army or the left army?

Faithful

I don't think so.

Of course it's relevant, especially on this specific incident. If he had been in the right position he could have put in a better tackle. Or are you blaming everybody else except him? -

I have been critical of Targett and so I watched that booking incident carefully after the game. I feel that Targett should have been a couple of yards further to his right once it was clear that Lukaku was going to break clear down the wing. In fairness he was unlucky to get booked and give away a foul because he did get a slight touch on the ball before bringing Lukaku down. On the other hand it was very close to being a penalty. You're right, he needs more experience but whilst he's getting it we are dropping points. -
Comedy gold, or should that be comedy bronze? I still think that it shold have been recycled into hundreds of bronze miniatures. I would have loved to have on on my desk to cheer me up every time we lost 3-0 at home.

Quite right. I have played in defence in enough pub leagues to recognise defending like that first goal. I am not normally very vocal but I was shouting 'to him' 'to him' 'to him' 'oh FFS'.Even the commentator on MOTD said that Kone 'might have been closed down a bit sooner'. There may well have been mitigating circumstances due to illnesses but our basic positioning and shape was wrong. Still, it's only two games in and I'm sure Ron knows where the problems are.
