See! I always said they had their uses.
-
There's no need for that. Sometimes people can't see the essence of the situation.
-
More importantly, it's my wedding anniversary!

The basic truth is that those poor innocents were crushed by other fans. Those at the back must have been pushing and shoving despite the resistance from those in front of them.
-
Yes Frank, those who were at the back pushing and shoving must accept their share of culpability.

So my alma mater has slipped to second. Surely some mistake.

That's a load of horlicks. I always preferred Duckhams myself.

There's a common fault with these where all the electrolytic capacitors dry out after just over a year. You can get replacement kits very cheaply, but only for the technically competent. The boxes are made down to a price and designed to last just a bit longer than the warranty.

Jesus would have had wood flooring, surely.

That's very kind of you TS, I'll have to have a little think about this. There's a saying in chess that 'the threat is greater than the execution' so I'll leave it hanging over you if I may.

As I undertand it the goods and service was supplied for an agreed price, which constitutes a contract but you can't pay an invoice you don't have.
-
Yes you are but you don't have to rush things.

Don't they also have a shop in Bitterne?

We have a history of not respecting our history. This is unbelievably criminal: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/implacable-to-the-end

I remember going to the Isle of Wight as a boy. Portsmouth Harbour was full of warships moored two abreast down the centre of the harbour. Now even Fareham creek is virtually empty. Is there a site listing all the ships that served and what happened to them? I was bobbing around in Portsmouth harbour in my Mirror dinghy when Invincible, Bristol and Olmeda (?) returned, a day I shall never forget. Bristol is now the cadet training ship and has just undergone a refit. It always seems a pity that we can't raise the money to preserve some of these. As for the great ocean liners, we have nothing to show.

Some of you may wish to look away now. Hermes was sold to India in 1986 and is now INS Viraat. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ins+viraat&hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=-4lMUNiPCYaf0QXIt4G4Aw&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=768&bih=928#biv=i|12;d|QX7vbetHFTBRZM: Fearless was broken up in Ghent and Intrepid in Liverpool. Officially they were 'recycled'. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1126951/Farewell-warrior-Falklands-veteran-broken-claim-piece-eBay.html

I find this obsession with empty seats strange. There is a great big swathe in the separation zone that gets taken for granted.at the game the empty seats were not obvious apart from a small block (of maybe 40?) to the left of the dugouts. I must admit to being surprised by the empty corporates though.

What's a calculator? Is it like an abacus?
-
Oops. I've had bigger bloomers than that. Thank you for pointing it out, I knew someone would ;-) I blame my IPAD. And not checking my results, but at least I showed my working so I must get some points for that.
-
Are we talking a priori or a posteori? Sticking with the door is 33%. The alternative must be 66% It's called the Monty Hall problem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Hall_problem
-
66% if you change. The goat is removed for you, for free. The choice is first door (1 in 3) or second door (2 in 3) since if there is a car behind either of the two doors you will win it.
-
It was called BODMAS in my day. Calculators vary in their priority sequencing. HP used to use reverse Polish which confused some people. 1 to the power 0 is 1, so the answer is 6-1+1, which is 1. (edit: that's a load of horlicks. I'd blame my IPad if I could. It's a good thing I showed my working). ;-) It was an exercise for the reader. The answer is obviously 6, derbrain.

This is counter-intuitive. The best strategy is always to change your mind. Think of it this way. Choose a door that you don't want to be opened. The chance of it being a car is 1 in 3, so the chance of there being a car behind one of the other two doors is 2 in 3. The host will get rid of the spare goat for you leaving you with twice the chance of getting the car, providing you change your mind.

It's what Google should have been, had they been able to spell. It's also a jolly big number.

Oi! Watch it.
