SS1 at 7.30. Will be watching the Rugby League myself.
-
No to mention Milton Keynes, that's 4 of the top 5.

I'm sure it was a factor last season, when we were playing all the youngsters but I can't see it being a problem this season, with a more experienced team and a completely different atmosphere amongst the fans.

Brilliant!!

I don't think there are too many "injuries of convenience" with Capello as manager. Certain players knew they would get away with it under Sven and McCLOWNren. Capello has proven that he won't take any sh!t and nobody is guaranteed a World Cup place.

Club Psychiatrist! You had to be certified as insane to play for Saints' in those days!

He may not have stood by and let it happen but If he were doing his job properly he would have resisted the excess spending and if the Execs went ahead and ignored his advice, he should have either made sure that it was minuted that he was being over ruled or if he had more gumption, offered his resignation. The guy is a yes man and as culpable as any of the other to$$ers that brought out club to its knees! All IMHO of course!

That narrows it down! Sturrock?

But Oldknow's type see themselves as trouble-shooters, who goes into ailing companies and helps turn them around and his CV will be worded thus! I have encountered several of bosses of his ilk and they do it rather successfully but in truth, they always manage to get out before they are found out.

In the case of the cricket no-ball, that could just be checked if the consequence is a wicket. IMO It doesn't need somebody analysing every ball (apart from maybe 20/20, where every ball is vital) . Off-side technology could be used similarly. If there is a close run decision that leads to a goal, before awarding it, the Ref could ask the 4th official to check, similar to the way in rugby the Ref asks the VR to check on-side/off-side before awarding tries score from kicks.

Goals now on! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8327949.stm

This the guy? http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10306~33579,00.html

Well that doesn't always constitute a goal either. Ask any Spurs fan in a match against Man U, a couple of years ago or Crystal Palace fan, this season against Bristol City or even Saints' fan who was at the Dell against Leeds? When Sparky Hughes had one rebound off the advertising hoardings. It's true that TV pictures can never be 100% in certain circumstances and back in 1966 the pictures would have been too grainy anyway (even if the technology was available then), but surely for mistakes as fundamental as those, technology has to be brought in.

I think the bast@rdisation of the off-side rule has made things worse. The active and non-active rule is a nonsense (especially the fact that the player has to touch the ball to become active). If a player is standing in an off-side position within range of the flight of the ball, then they are off-side!!
-
Don't see why that should change, just because technology is brought in. Video Refs in rugby and the 3rd Umpire in cricket, has become part of the entertainment and it doesn't stop the crowd giving the onfield officials stick!

You see, that needs to be conveyed to the British public because they seem to be ignorant to the facts that the losses (and not belittling them, because all are very, very sad) are negligible, compared to that of the enemy.

I wonder if this paves the way for the Sporting Director appointment? If Oldknow is not being replaced, running the 'company' seems a hell of a big jog for one man.

The Full Members (ZDS/Simod) wasn't a lower cup. It was originally only really devised in 1985 to give the clubs that otherwise would have qualified for Europe (during the UEFA ban of English clubs). It was expanded to include other top/second flight teams but ceased to exist after 1992 (the year we got to the final).

He actually said it (even though Pinnacle used it as an excuse). If we had been allowed to appeal I'm pretty sure ML and NC would have. They may not have won but it would have been worth a go.

Brian Mawhinney is to stand down as Football League Chairman in March. Good riddance, arrogant tos5er!!
-
Will be on BBC web-site either later today or tomorrow. Leeds v Grimsby highlights are already on.
-
Up there with them, at least!

Could have done without the Poyet appointment TBH. I still think we will win but it won't be as comfortable as many of us thought last week.

Are all League 1 referees and linos American?
