Don't get it myself, Pompey are history - not even rivals any more. Their implosion will be complete if\when they go down into the non league. Actually feel for their decent fans, what a shambles that club was. I can't see them ever getting back into the big time short of a one in a million takeover.
-
Can see this one happening, hope not but looks like a decent fit for Utd and they are going to turn any players head.
-
If it's all about potential I'd drop a league and go for Plymouth. Always thought that with decent management they could become a regional power and go far. Nice part of the world too.
-
A win would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons and make the end of season run in a lot more interesting that I'd have dared imagine. Can't really see it though, they will be smarting after yesterday and we're going to feel the backlash.

He should be playing for France, he is French after all. That said, international sport has become a bit of a joke when it comes to only picking home grown. Off the top of my head I can think of Zola Budd, cricketers like Alan Lamb, Robin Smith, KP and more, Mo Farah, a fair few of the All Blacks, Manu Tuilagi. Greg Rusedski etc etc. I guess it depends on your definition of a national, mine would be born and bred in that country but others would disagree.

Ricky knows exactly what he needs to do to get on that plane so let's hope he bags a load between now and end of season.

Should saints break the bank in the summer for a striker ?

Lukaku would be my choice but we may have to dangle Shaw as a carrot. How about looking at the champ for the likes of Ings\Vokes\Rhodes? -
I hope he stays, we have more points than the whole of last season and we've still got around a quarter to go. FA Cup mess aside he's been a great manager here. There's also the squad unity angle, if MoPo sticks around then so will hopefully our best players too.
-
It really was a FaCup this year. If the club don't plan on taking it seriously next year then let us know and drop the prices significantly.

I'm not angry but there's no doubt the season has deflated quite a lot as a result of it and that's a shame as we've had a cracking league campaign and seen some top class football. It's not losing to Sunderland, never was as they are a decent team, it was the fact that we had the chance and seemed to snub it. We may not get that chance again for a very long time. Fans still want the cup but teams (apart from the mega squad top 4/5) don't seem to and that's very sad. If MoPo was serious then why Davis over Boruc for starters?

Post Match Reaction: Crystal Palace 0-1 SAINTS
Cabrone replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Couple of milestones yesterday, firstly got past that magic 40 point mark and secondly with 9 games left we now have more points than we had for the whole of the 12/13 season. Just shows what a great job Poch has done and considering our finishing has struggled just how brilliant our midfield and (when all fit) defence have done. Hopefully we can push on to around 55'ish points by season's end which would be a fantastic achievement. Just a shame about the cup -
Shaw looked like he's been playing for England for years, you have to keep on telling yourself that he's only 18. I think he's on the plane. Adam looked like the only player that could pick the Danish lock and as it turned out he was. Another class act. On the plane. Schmeichel looked very good - maybe a cheeky bid in the summer?

Should MP drop Lambert for the Palace game!

Whilst we have the luxury to try out squad players without too much risk we should, so yes lets see what Gallagher can do. -
I really hope we can keep our best players (apart from Ossie, bridges well and truly burnt on that one unfortunately) because with the exception of our finishing they are all pretty damn good. If anyone goes I'd say it would be Shaw and possibly Lovren. Think Adam and Morgan will hang around a bit more yet. Hopefully we'll get that goal scoring striker + a rival to Boruc and if Lovren were to depart another CB.
-
Scored the other day for Juve against Trabzonspor, looked pretty useful up front though his goal was an easy one. Let's hope he keeps on scoring and Juve are persuaded to buy him.
-
It's a crying shame Ossie didn't work out as if it had I think we'd be gatecrashing top 6 right now. Infact it's a testimony to just how good the rest of the team have been that we've been able to absorb it and still look safe as houses. I was tremendously excited by it, he's a class act but sadly his personality didn't gel. The club took a justifiable gamble and it failed, fortunately we are safe and live to fight another day. The search for a top class striker that can fit in with the squad needs to start now, it was our no 1 priority last summer and it's an even bigger priority now. We can't go into 2014/15 with Ricky as our front line striker. We also need to get a rival GK to Artur, that's another major weakness in the squad.
-
Been the same old story all season namely that our finishing isn't up to it. We all knew that the priority last summer was a goal scoring striker and Ossie should have been the answer. Unfortunately it didn't work out and we have gone back to square 1. It's really frustrating as our midfield is brilliant and our first choice defence is solid but when that ball gets worked into the area we don't have anyone to regularly stick it in the net. But don't worry, the season isn't over. We can still get the record of 'number of consecutive games spent in the same table position' award. Lots to play for

Feel flat rather than angry TBH. Not going to watch any more cup games if the club has no intention of competing in any of them. We could be looking a realistic semi final place but sadly the club rejected it out of hand. However the league is still worth pursuing starting with WHam. The club are going to have to work hard to clear this particular self inflicted hangover.
-
If the club aren't going to take cup competitions seriously then fans should not bother turning up. That is the message the club is sending out. Really feel for those that made the difficult trek to the furthermost club from us just to watch a bit of a debacle. I'd feel ripped off. What's even more galling is that we were in the fairly unusual position where the cup game was a lot more important than our league games and yet the club still did not want to go for it. Says everything you need to know about SFCs attitude to the cups. Next season save your cash and don't bother with cup matches, if the club can't be arsed then neither should the fans.
-
Damn, this was the game most of us wanted to win and we blew it. Baffled and disappointed why we didn't select the very strongest XI. The rest of the season is going through the motions now, what a damn shame.
-
The chances of us going down are so low now as to be irrelevant. We've gone past the 'survival is our top priority' part of the season to the 'let's push on and see how high we can get part'. Like Dalek I've been one of those that has been fixated on just getting those 40 points but in the last few days we've crossed the threshold. I guess those old habits die hard.
-
Huge game, just need to not lose - a replay would be fine by me. Then hopefully Chelsea get knocked out, Citeh draw Everton, we win the replay and get a home draw where we can beat anyone. We have a real fighting chance in this competition.
-
Lallana is a definite, Ricky will go if Carroll doesn't do anything special, JRod is more of an outsider but a possibility if he keeps his performances right up. I'd also take Clyne, he's simply the best English right back at the moment IMO - just doesn't get the attention he deserves.
-
Rotate them whilst giving JRod increasing amounts of time. Ricky would make a good impact sub. Defence wins you things, big Vic behind Cork\Morgan would be one hell of a defensive shield.
-
He's a fantastic defensive shield and his passing is nowhere as bad as those on here would have you believe. I'd like to see Wanyama play infront of the back 4 with Cork\Schneiderlin\Davis in the middle and width provided by the full backs, that would be a seriously tough lineup for any opposition to handle.
