On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you with saints at the moment?
Cabrone replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
8th in the prem and 3 England players in the team. What's not to like? -
If £7M is all we can get I wonder if some kind of reconcilliation is still not possible, the club and the player call a truce for next season, Ossie gets his head down and raises his stock for a move, SFC guarantees it won't stand in the way if an offer comes in and everyone gains. What makes the whole Ossie situation such a headache is that all season we have been clearly lacking in exactly the sort of player that he is. Or maybe he'll have a good WC and all this will be moot as a bunch of Italian\Spanish teams come in for him with decent offers?

Don't get it, they are a league 2 outfit flirting with non league football and some Saints fans still care enough about them to pay for a banner? They are in a world of pain right now and what is more they are unlikely to ever hit the big time again. Let them be, at the current rate their derby game will be the big clash at Fareham town and Saints won't mean anything.
-
What a player, probably the best ever produced by this club. Shame about the (lack of) sell on clause....nice one Rupes.
-
I don't have any hate, they are a league 2 club who could be in the conference next season. If Pompey was a girl not even the tide would want to take them out.
-
I'd go big for Begovic, top class keeper. We should always be looking at replacements, not backups. Let him and Boruc scrap it out for no 1.
-
Now JRod is on the injury table for months is a reconciliation with Ossie out of the question? Have always said the guy has all the talent in the world but needs to get his head sorted out. If we could heal the whole affair up could we still get a top quality striker for a lot less than the alternatives, very long shot though I admit.
-
Boruc Lallana JRod Lovren Morgan Ricky Shaw Cork Fonte Davis Clyne Not based on how I personally rate the players, just on how important they are to the team i.e. tactical importance and what the alternatives are.

Whilst the possession stats in the first half may look good we never really troubled the Man City defence. It's been said a thousand times on here but we need a lot more incisiveness and speed going forward if we are to have any chance of breaking down the top teams. City were quite timid in the first half but we couldn't take advantage. Also some of the decisions didn't do us any favours but that's life. Gazzaniga is not up to the job (but we already knew that anyway).

Looks like Jose wants to offload Lukaku if the Telegraph is anything to go by. Would love for us to get him but..... Big stumbling block. Telegraph Link
-
Lukaku would be my no 1 but I also like the look of Remy or Bony. Even Welbeck might not be a bad shout and would enjoy playing alongside some of the other England players. Could see him flourishing here (only if Man Utd wanted to release him though).
-
In season's gone by virtually anyone in this team could have won player of the year but yes I think Lallana should get it. Special mentions to Shaw, Davis, Cork and Schneiderlin - throughout the whole season our midfield unit has been immense (and would have been more so if big Vic had been available). If Ossie had worked out (i.e. 20 goals) we'd be top 6 right now IMO.

Good grief, Pompey vs Eastleigh next season? Eastleigh to do the double? It's a world of pain if you're a Pompey fan.
-
The squad is small and by playing a hard physical closing down style they are probably getting tired and injury niggles are not helping. We are also safe with nothing much to play for which may be having an effect on player mentality. That all said to go to Spurs and push them all the way playing some top football in the first half wasn't too shabby. They are after all a top 5\6 team that spent huge amounts of money on players this season. If we can keep our current crop and strengthen in key areas we'll be a force next season. Can we keep them though?
-
Good keeper but definitely needs some real competition. As soon as Artur is out we are in trouble. Would love to see someone of the calibre of Begovic or Schmeichel here and let the two of them scrap it out for top spot. Probably wouldn't happen though as both would be good enough for 1st team places in their own right.
-
Don't get it myself, Pompey are history - not even rivals any more. Their implosion will be complete if\when they go down into the non league. Actually feel for their decent fans, what a shambles that club was. I can't see them ever getting back into the big time short of a one in a million takeover.
-
Can see this one happening, hope not but looks like a decent fit for Utd and they are going to turn any players head.
-
If it's all about potential I'd drop a league and go for Plymouth. Always thought that with decent management they could become a regional power and go far. Nice part of the world too.
-
A win would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons and make the end of season run in a lot more interesting that I'd have dared imagine. Can't really see it though, they will be smarting after yesterday and we're going to feel the backlash.
-
He should be playing for France, he is French after all. That said, international sport has become a bit of a joke when it comes to only picking home grown. Off the top of my head I can think of Zola Budd, cricketers like Alan Lamb, Robin Smith, KP and more, Mo Farah, a fair few of the All Blacks, Manu Tuilagi. Greg Rusedski etc etc. I guess it depends on your definition of a national, mine would be born and bred in that country but others would disagree.
-
Ricky knows exactly what he needs to do to get on that plane so let's hope he bags a load between now and end of season.

Should saints break the bank in the summer for a striker ?
Cabrone replied to killer fan's topic in The Saints
Lukaku would be my choice but we may have to dangle Shaw as a carrot. How about looking at the champ for the likes of Ings\Vokes\Rhodes? -
I hope he stays, we have more points than the whole of last season and we've still got around a quarter to go. FA Cup mess aside he's been a great manager here. There's also the squad unity angle, if MoPo sticks around then so will hopefully our best players too.
-
It really was a FaCup this year. If the club don't plan on taking it seriously next year then let us know and drop the prices significantly.
-
I'm not angry but there's no doubt the season has deflated quite a lot as a result of it and that's a shame as we've had a cracking league campaign and seen some top class football. It's not losing to Sunderland, never was as they are a decent team, it was the fact that we had the chance and seemed to snub it. We may not get that chance again for a very long time. Fans still want the cup but teams (apart from the mega squad top 4/5) don't seem to and that's very sad. If MoPo was serious then why Davis over Boruc for starters?
