  1. Me too, been a great season so far, no players have left, manager still in place and fingers crossed for an exciting cup run to come. After so many years of struggle it's all good in SFC land.
  2. No one has any idea what's going to happen so let's just get behind the team and KL, she has after all allowed SFC to spend a small fortune over the last few years without interfering. She's no mug and knows that SFC is a rather valuable asset now, I expect some astute recruitments and a continuation with MP and the players as they were. KL is SFC, NC is not any more. Get behind the team, we've got a game on Saturday and could grab another 3 points.
  3. Firstly thanks to NC, he's done an amazing job, top class managerial appointments and kept the funds flowing when needed. It's a blow but every dog has its day, the club will go on in much better shape thanks to him so huge respect to the guy. Now onto KL. Not sure why the despondency, the woman is no mug and SFC is a £100M+ business - she is not going to treat an investment of that size with anything other than utmost respect. She may sell but I hope the Liebherrs stay as I really like their low profile management of the club. No barking mad publicity stunts, just quiet determination. She'll get the right people if needs be and I'm sure any personnel changes will be handled professionally. First task is to keep MP and the players on side till at least the end of the season and I don't see why she can't persuade them to stay. Someone on here was saying the season was becoming boring. Is this exciting enough for you?
  4. It seems that this club just cannot get through a season with no incident. 9th in the table, looking good, relegation worries all but over, easy cup draw and then the sh*t hits the fan. SFC is a lot of things, but boring isn't one of them.
  5. Micky Fialka's Ford Ka has just been seen in the car park. Just saying.
  6. "Struggling to get excited by our league campaign" Really? The first half of the season was great fun as we bobbled around the top 6 getting rave reviews. Christmas saw the limitations of our squad cruelly exposed but we should have now done enough to ensure survival and are on track to be crowned as the 'best of the rest' which is brilliant. Being as we'd have to greatly exceed champs league form to even get to 6th (if Spurs beat us at WHL we'd need to overhaul 13 points in 16 games - forget it) we should grab those 12 odd points needed to seal survival ASAP and then look at blooding in youth and rotating our first XI to keep them 100% fit for cup games. If we do I think we've got a real fighting chance in the competition. Most fans would be chuffed to bits with 8th and a really good cup run.
  7. Took a worldy fron Ossie but no mean feat to take a point from a club with the combined resource of an oil rich state. It's now between Citeh and Chelski for me (Arse will have a sticky patch at some stage). I think Citeh will blink first but we'll see.
  8. Fingers crossed 3 points, the earlier we get to safety the more we can fully concentrate on the Cup and blooding in more youth. If we can minimise any injuries in our first teamers for cup games then we've a fair chance of going a long way. Silverware is what it's all about, that trophy cabinet is looking pretty bare.
  9. First target to get the 12 points to guarantee safety then FA Cup should become the main focus. If we could reignite our challenge for top 6 then great but we'd have to have some unbelievable form to get higher than 8th so I really can't see it now.
  10. Me too, Lukaku is the only player I'd entertain in some kind of swap deal. Failing that I want him to stay, he's so good it's easy to forget he's only 18 and he's going to get better as he gets older. Can see Luke pushing into the England setup within the next 12-24 months and then the price goes up even more.
  11. Spam Unveil Yacht for 'End of Season' Bash. Tickets still available.
  12. The only downer about Boruc is he's not English - I'd rather him between the sticks in Brazil instead of Joe Hart. Much better keeper imo.
  13. If a player from another club had complained like AL did over what seemed an innocuous interchange I'd find it pretty pathetic, I can't be a hypocrite on this. The non pen was a very bad decision but AL and the club haven't done themselves any favours over this. Sorry.

    Danny Ings

Ricky isn't particularly mobile but we manage with him up front on his own so not sure about that argument. I think Rhodes is young enough and decent enough to be converted to a more Lamberesque lone striker role if we really wanted him. He's also already proven over several seasons. There's goals in the guy for sure. However Ings does look interesting too. Looks to me like he's carrying a bit of excess but if he ever came here he'd shave off a few pounds which would make him even sharper. With his Saints connections the fans would probably cut him some slack too whilst he was adjusting.
  15. Lambert's at Leeds, pivotal result and the first time that I started to think we could do it (although it was Kelvin's night TBH). Connolly at BHA. Fonte gets the headlines but DC was the man that sparked us into life in that game. Six mins to go, sqeaky bums all round with Hudders hot on our tail, up pops DC to get the equaliser, now sniffing blood we go on to snatch a vital 3 points. Great memories under NA.
  16. Never mind the performance, feel the result. This was a real banana skin of a game against very decent opposition and we came through. Through to the 4th round and another 3 weeks closer to Boruc getting back, boy do we miss him. If we can stay in the cup whilst nursing our first 11 back together then I don't see why we can't get something from this competition.

    Well

Banega\Astori back on the radar? If Gaston is out of favour we really could do with a quality AM.
  18. Wettest game of Saints history?
  19. Tiss is my all time great, one of the most naturally talented players England, let alone Saints, has produced. Then add the fact that he was 100% SFC throughout his whole career and he's pretty much untouchable. He even tried to help save the club when they were in trouble when others went quiet. Ricky is a legend but in a different way. He has been our Atlas lifting the club on his shoulders from lge 1 to prem stability and providing a host of special memories on the way. Of course he didn't do it alone but he was definitely the focal point and made the biggest contribution. Tiss is my all time no 1 but Ricky is right there in the next tier of legends alongside Bates, Davies, Channon and Paine. It will be a sad day when he goes, that's for sure.
  20. I hope not, I think he's a good player and could link up well with Ossie, plus we're not exactly over endowed with attacking midfielders at the moment. I think we have the strikers, we just need a more creative link between midfield and up front so for that reason I hope Gaston gets a good run of games.
  21. Rhodes would be a tidy piece of business and a very good replacement IMO. The deal makes sense to me. From our perspective £8M is a very decent price for a 32 y.o which gives us some cash to get an up and coming striker. From Spam's position if Ricky could keep them in the prem (and he could IMO) £8M would be a small price to pay. However the emotional impact of losing Ricky would be big and we aren't safe yet so a bit of a gamble. It's going to break a few hearts, Ricky's a legend at SFC and we'll all miss him but this is business and Cortese won't let sentiment cloud his judgement.
  22. Lots of possession and control but not enough sharpness up front. Despite not having much possession Everton carved us open when they needed to, got the feeling that if we had scored a 2nd they would have gone up and gotten a 3rd. We have become tough to break down but in doing so we seem to have also sacrificed quick incisiveness infront of goal.
  23. Can't see us getting anything from this one. Everton are an excellant side plus we have a horrific record against them, a real bogey team. However if we could somehow sneak a win it would be the sweetest result of the year for me as Mr Heath plus almost 30 years of pain against them needs to be redressed. Come on Saints, we owe this lot a thrashing.
  24. In just over 4 games he has conceeded 2 more goals than Boruc did in almost 13 games. He is not good enough, even if some of those goals were hard to save he gives the defence no confidence and consequently they make mistakes. Time to give Cropper a go until Boruc is back or we get a better keeper.
  25. Not too surprised, think AVB flatters to deceive and Bale papered over a lot of cracks last season. Spurs are potentially joint (with Utd) biggest club in the country IMO. A massive catchment area that stretches around large parts of N.London right up through the home counties and into East Anglia\southern midlands They are held back by a boxed in stadium, get an Emirates style bigger one and they'd fill it. Unlike their near neighbours they have consistently underachieved and it rankles. Hence a rather trigger like tendency to eject managers when sometimes they should keep.
