Anyone that thinks we wont miss Mane has seen in 15 mins against Barca what we will miss about him!

Not sure there is really anything new in this statement......I think most would expect Tadic to stay and sign an improved contract, especially now RK has gone! We all know we need probably a minimum of 3 signings.....even Puel has hinted at that! After a week in Holland i'm sure Puel now knows who is not up to it and will be loaned out....or possibly moved on. Fonte being sold???.....the only way i can see this happening is if we have had a silly bid and he really wants the move that will secure his and his families future.

I've avoided criticisisng the new look Saints so far....however i have now watched all 4 pre-season games and to be honest with only 2 more friendlies left i am now a bit worried. Yes we look tighter defensively....but we look incredibly impotent up front. There looks to be a real lack of quality connecting the midfield to the forward line. I'm really hoping the players are holding back something....because if they are not i will be very concerned. And lets face it....we have played some good awful opposition so far!!!

Having a concern that we have lost our manager again and that we have lost some players is ok ....but it gets pathetic when fans start bleating and forecasting armegedon. How long has any manager in the Premiership stayed in his job at his current club?....take Wegner out of this equation.....managers move on all the time....can we at least give Puel a couple of months into the season before calling for his head. Mane whether we like it or not made it quite clear that he would move on. Liverpool ARE a bigger club than us,they may have finished below us for the first time ever but they still got to a major final, they can offer more money, Klopp is probably an incentive to move there and they SHOULD be back ammongst the top clubs again this season. So realistically we could not have kept Mane and we have got a decent fee for him. VW likewise has made it very clear he wanted off because he felt he could play for a top 4 side and has again gone to a Bigger club than us. Spurs will play Champions league next season. We cannot compete with that. Saints have got a reasonable fee. Pelle is a conundrum. On his day excellent and unplayable, on other he seems disinterested and moans like hell at everyone. Personally i like him and would want him to stay BUT if reports are true and he is off to China town then who can blame him for what he will earn there. Saints obviously believe he is either replaceable or they already have his replacement and are confident there are no fitness issues (at some point you have to trust the club no more about the players than we do) It is only the 10th July and the new manager has only been in place little over a week. Can we stop all the hysterical panicking until the transfer window has shut and we have signed no one, we have sold of all the crown jewels and we are sitting at the bottom of the league after 10 games having played a team full of U21 players.....Please show some common sense!

Unfortunately what we are seeing here with all the melts is just what we see in the world generally!......People love bad news, they flock towards it. Watch the news every night and the majority of it is bad news, read the papers and again the main headlines are always slanted towards bad news....its the general human condition. No one on this forum has the slightest idea what Puel wants or what the club might be doing BUT one piece of negative paper reporting and a large number of our forum turn into wrist slashers. It's sad that so many people are automatically conditioned to be pessemistic.

well as it stands 2 Southampton players will be playing in the Final......Jose Fonte baby......what a ride this player has enjoyed with Saints. Would love him to bring a Winners medal back to St Marys.

Has it really taken a long time???......off course it hasn't. We are not mid season and therefore playing games with a caretaker in charge......the players are either on their holidays or in the Euro and then on holiday. Ideally we want a manager in place for when the first of the players return to pre-season training but i would rather we take our time and get this appointment spot on than rush things just to please a bunch of internet warriors with no patience at all......oh and not having a manager in place is obviously not stopping us sign players is it!

I think you will find we are STILL in Europe. We have voted to leave and that is yet to be ratified and can take up to two years before we are OUT of the EU. So don't expect any immediate changes.

I do sometimes wonder about our fans.....turn the clock back 5 years ago and look where we were. Have our board let us down with managerial appointments???...most definately not......would the like of Pellegrini have been remotely interested in Southampton??....definately not. He is interested now because he recognises an extremely well run club that has been making steady progess year on year. I trust the board that they are choosing a manager that fits everything that is good about our club. I don't want a BIG NAME manager just because they are that, a big name. I want a manager that buys into the clubs vision and yes the "Southampton way".....if that turns out to be Puel he will get my backing.

Totally agree with the above. The board have known this has been coming long enough to have identified suitable replacements. He has gone, lets move on.

It will definately be somebody who's body will be in Southampton but his head almost certainly somewhere else!

The board have known for the last two seasons Wanyama was probably off.......I would be surprised if a replacement has not been identified....and yes get rid now. Pelle is like marmite.....last night he showed why so many of us love him, he is passionate and so understated by so many Saints fans....however i think we should cash in now!

We need to appoint a manager before we can go signing players......would we really be bidding for players before we even know who the new manager is and if he is remotely interested in said players!!!

Please don't be put off coming back by some of the reactions you are getting on here. Some people on here have taken it very personally what RK has done (if he is about to sign for you) and just can not accept he would go to a club outside the top four. I like to think that once the dust settles that any of my fellow Saints fans would be more than happy to have a reasonable discussion with you....at the end of the day we are all football fans and as you have put it you have have been very entirely civil in your comments. I still think far too many football fans in general believe in loyalty and the word of men like Koeman when they say they will honour their contract. Me....i stopped believing that dream many many years ago and know there is no such thing as loyalty or honour in the modern game. Money talks....end off!

How many years of continued success have we had now??....How many managers have either been moved on or have moved on themselves?.....and yet we continue to be successful. Why? we have a very attractive club for any manager, run properly and will not sell all its silver on the hope of buying immediate success. I have said it before and i will say it again.....both players and managers come to us because we are an established, very well run club in the best league in the world where stupid salaries are paid. We pay players and managers more than they were previously earning and then a bigger predator comes along and ups those offers......PLEASE don't try and sell me this it's all about ambition tosh because it's not!.....It's all about greed and once you accept that you can move on and get excited about who will be our new players and manager.

honestly cannot believe for one minute we are even interested as the wages alone would he would be on would disrupt the harmony of the squad. And if i were to entertain this for one moment and except Saints were willing to pay mega bucks for him....then surely we would be better off paying big wages to Wanyama and Mane to keep them here??!!!

To be honest this post hits the nail on the head. The majority of footballers have no loyalty to the club they play for. They come to us because we are willing to pay more than their previous club and then want to leave us because another club are willing to pay even more....it really is as simple as that. Yes it ****es me off seeing us lose 5/6 players every season ...but hell i've got used to it and accept this is part is part of the modern era where footballers care not about actually playing football but how big their pay packet is even if it means sitting on the bench most of the season at one of the bigger clubs.
