was always excited by the F.A. Cup as a kid and lucky enough to see us win in 76, those memories are never likely to be repeated. Although part of me thinks we should rest alot of the first team because the Premier League is ultimately what its all about...the other part of me wants us to field our strongest side and take the competition deadly serious. We have a great opportunity to progress but i'm not so sure our management are overly bothered.....and in part if thats the case i do understand it.

why anyone would get irritated by this i cannot fathom. All i can say is we must have some miserable fans that can not see what is being built at Southampton. We have the most exciting team we have had in years. They are a young side that will only improve and there is no reason why these lads can not achieve what the club has set out as its goal. Self belief cannot be measured. I have enjoyed every minute of this season, even the blip we have gone through recently because the football has still been good and you can see the self belief the lads have. We are not the finished article and no one at the club has said we are......we are a work in progress and we have continued to improve!

I can not believe for one minute that there is a chance of Poch being sacked. We have one of the most exciting Saints teams i have ever seen playing some fantastic football and i have been watching Saints for over 40 years so i've seen some good Saints sides. The players are playing for the manager and that is evident to anyone watching that doesnt have an agenda! Every side has ups and downs during the season and the most die hard Saints fans knew our brilliant start would not last once injuries and suspensions kicked in....what none of us expexted was the horrible bad luck we got when we did pick up injuries. Has Poch improved the team and the way we play....hell yes!...and anyone that can not sees that needs to have their eyes checked. We are a work in progress and we have improved year on year since NC took over and we have improved since Poch took over as manager.

someone needs to do theirs Maths again me thinks!

what a load of rubbish has been spouted on here about Gazzinga. How anyone can fault him for either goal is laughable. As soon as we lose or conceed a goal some on here can not wait to blame someone or have a scapegoat. Get behind whoever is in goal on Wednesday night. We lost on Sunday because we were not good enough all over the park, nothing brilliant up front, midfield was not firing on all cylinders and we made mistakes at the back.....not one persons fault!!

I laugh every time this stupid subject rears its ugly head. I hope Poch never gives an interview in English, its hysterical seeing so many on here getting so worked up about it as if it really matters. How many times have people got to be told he speaks perfectly decent English but is sensible enough to use a translator for the British press....Anyhow i perfectly understand what he is saying and its all good!

I'm just totally enjoying the ride while it lasts. It does remind me alot of WBA last season and i fully expect us to go off the boil at some point. The big plus for us is the World cup looming.....we genuinely have a number of players that are all in with a shout of going to the World Cup finals and i would expect them to be giving everything and more to be on that plane. One of the main differences about this set of players under Poch is the mental strength and belief....it is evident out there every Saturday that they fully believe they deserve to be where they are and are as good as anyone in this league.....go onto the pitch with that attitude and you are in with a shout......much better than teams of old that went out knowing they were inferior and fully expected to get beat!Have massively enjoyed watching the brand of football we are producing.

I think we have set out our stall this season and the league is and always should be our priority. I fully expect us to field a side of squad players tonight and believe this has been the intention in this cup competition since the start of the season......as a fan i always want to see us do well in the cups and another chance to get to a final looks so possible. However i do realise that the club is not yet an Arsenal, Chelsea or Man City and able to have a second 11 that would rival most other clubs. Do we risk our first team players in this cup competition and risk losing them for the league??....the other point to consider and i'm sure the club has!...is how many of our players throughout the squad are being called up to play internationals and will do in friendlies between now and the world cup finals.....its a long season and i think the club is being sensible with the rotation policy in this cup competition.

no way you can blame Boruc for the goal. I was watching the live stream and was absolutely gob smacked when it bounced like that an over Boruc....complete freak of a goal
-
really hope we win obviously but i think our brilliant run will come to an end just because Stoke are an ugly side to play against.

I like Gaston and think he has real talent.....but he just does not suit this league at all and has been given over a year to settle down and show his worth. I totally trust our management and if MoPo is not playing him then its because the rest of the squad have knuckled down, upped their game and are willing and more importantly believe and want to play for MoPo. I have no doubt that if he goes back to Italy or somewhere else in Europe he will be a big hit where the game is not so fast and physical. He is on very high wages and i would rather we sold him for a few million less than we paid for him rather than we carry on paying huge wages for a player that will hardly feature!

Mauricio Pochettino's Post-Match Reaction - Swansea
BARCELONASAINT replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I am for the first time starting to believe there is no place at Saints for GR. He is without gifted, but for the manager not to include him in a home match squad when the manager has said there is nothing wrong with him suggests something very wrong! I am not a GR basher, quite the opposite i believe he is extremely talented but for reasons i can not quite figure he just does not seem to fit the English premier league.....I still hope he comes good but i can see him gone come January and replaced with more quality and someone hopefully better suited to the more physical nature of English football -
how Waggamamma is ahead of Jack Cork i'll never know

LIVE: Mauricio Pochettino's pre-West Ham press conference
BARCELONASAINT replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
missed the very beginning and have no idea what story thats obviously in the press they kept asking him about.....anyone know what its all about? -
excellent from Rickie so far, lets be greedy and have more in the second half please
-
anyone have any idea how many of WH's first team have been called up for international duties?? As i see it our lads will be back for maybe 2/3 days training at best....not the best preperation after a 2 week break from the league. My worry is WH will have had most of their squad training for 2 weeks and our Int players come back knackered.

Your favourite Saints players that weren't popular?

Ali Dia, never got the game time to prove his worth!.....you have to love him for making complete idiots out of those responsible for his signing -

Mark Dennis, i can feel the pain now that he inflicted on many that thought it was a good idea to try and run past him! -
really dont understand why we have taken off one of our best players
-
that was an awful half to watch, i dont why we have gone with this line up, our midfield can not hold onto the ball
-
would you loan one of your players to one of your biggest rivals??? If Moses goes to Liverpool surely it will be a transfer not a loan?
-
I don't often agree with Glasgow but on this i do. Have a bit of respect for the opposition, this is chance for them to forget about the league and dump a Premiership side out of the cup, they will be up for this and if we approach the game anywhere near like most on here then we will be coming home with our tails between our legs!!

bloody fantastic for Rickie and yes he has every chance of playing again
