all this anger by some of you....you are automatically making assumptions that the club wanted rid......none of you know this like none of you had a clue apart from Monk what was going on with Osvaldo.....and look how stupid you all looked when he signed. Why wait for the facts to come out???....just go ahead and blame someone because you need your scapegoats!

If its true we tried to sign him only a month ago i would be very surprised if we did not go back for him now. The OP's post suggests we must have agreed terms with the player if we appealed regarding his work permit. I don't think anyone would disagree that the defence is STILL an area that needs addressing!

No one has a problem with banter....this forum has decended into the nasty bullyboy playground of a minority that ambush every thread and consistently spout the same stuff on every thread and take it off topic....their ego's are such that they cannot bear not being the centre of attention. This used to be a great place to come and chat about about Saints related stuff but now its just boring as hell having to read the same drivel from the same people on every thread. No matter what our club does these people will never be happy....they are the sort of people that will always find fault!

I wish some of you guys would get of your backsides and put your loud mouths where they belong and apply for jobs at pro football clubs as you obviously know so much more and are much better than the people running our club. Ever since NC came to the club we have had year on year improvement and success.....i can only assume all clubs have the same sort of idiot fans we appear to have here. Some of you need to get out and away from the keyboard...you are becoming obsessive!

we have a very decent team now that i believe will keep us up and a mid table finish is what is likely. I still think we are 2/3 very good signings away from possible European qualification.....unless we win a cup! I don't think the Don is being naive and trying to get players on the cheap at all.....its a tough market out there, they have identified targets and none are cheap and now they competing not only against major clubs for these targets but agents that are thinking about their pay day too!

Having watched all our pre-season games i have been impressed with our build up to the new season. We looked very good yesterday and i was surprisingly impressed by the second half team. Yes Guly's penalty was awful but forget that and he had a very decent half. Like many others my one main concern is that we are lacking in the striking department. We are still far to dependant on RL to score our goals and although i really hope i'm wrong i don't think he will be as effective this season. I don't know who we really have been chasing as a striker and i can't believe we have not been trying to strengthen in this department but one thing is for sure we badly need another very good alternative to RL. I have very little criticism of NC but i am slightly worried that we might be throwing all our eggs into one basket and attempting to sign a Brazillian who on the face of it does not appear to be overly keen to come here.....i sincerely hope we are targetting other strikers and it is just the "Southampton way" that means we really have no idea whats going on!

I don't know why people get worked up about the goalkeepers. Poch made it quite clear he was rotating the goalkeepers during pre-season. Boruc is clearly no.1 and will no doubt start next weekend and then on the first day of the season

I don't think you be as simplistic as this. You have to look at the club in its entirety and how it has moved forward and is moving forward. Large leaps in the last few seasons, big named players being linked with the club, record signings, our state of the art academy....the club has big ambitions backed by money and a strong leader....the shirt design is but one facet of the overall global profile the club are looking to aquire......look at the big picture rather than things in isolation..........by itself, NO the shirt alone is not enough to raise our global profile but with everything else going on then the shirt becomes a part of a bigger jigsaw.

I must admitt i have no strong feelings one way or the other about our new kit. I have supported the club for over 40 years so i grew up with the red and white stripes and i loved those shirts. I have last seasons predominatly red top and like it and no doubt will get this seasons top....why?...because i support my club and proud to show my allegience to Saints. Why have the marketing guys gone down the route of of a more predominatly red top.....well my guess it is about the global brand and what they think people will happily wear out in public not just on match days!....Red and White stripes very football to anyone seeing the top.....a all redtop (mostly) and suddenly you just might be going into the grounds of a casual top more acceptable on any occassion...i could be wrong. I don't believe the club are putting 2 fingers up to the fans or our history....they are making financial decisions with the best interest of the club.

I have to agree with a few others here, it was definately the 70's that was the worse. As a young kid it was always very intimmidating and hostile coming out at full time and being anywhere near the Winston Pub area. The number of times i witnessed some fan be it away fan or home fan get punched for no reason at all was ridiculous. I grew up in Lordshill and went to school locally and many that looked forward to Saturdays purely for the violence they could inflict on others. Sorry to anyone that thought these were good times but they belong with the cavemen. Thank god things have improved or football in this country could have died.

There is no doubt in my mind that many posters do not bother posting anymore because of the handful out there that have turned this forum into a childs playground. I bet there are loads out there that get truthful snippets of info that they would like to share with fellow Saints fans but do not want the aggravation of getting torn to pieces on here and accussed of lying. I knew over a month ago that Addidas were our new kit provider and i'm sure there were others that new this but choose to keep it to themselves because of the constant sniping on here. I have supported Saints since the early 70'''s so i'm certainly old enough and hopefully wise enough that i don't need to tell stories on a forum just to get attention and make myself feel important. Many more fans would come on here and share their knowledge ans snippets of info if this place was not such a playground!

AS per the rest of this thread there is not one actual fact here....just a whole load of conjecture to suit personal agendas.

This chap obviously has an agenda here. Cortese is a hard business man we all know that and he doesn't tolerate fools gladly. A lot of the press are used to having people inside the clubs they can get info from and are willing to give them snippets....not so sure thats the case at Saints with Cortese likely to sack anyone on the spot for speaking to the press behind the clubs back....personally i'm all in favour of this style. I have no wish to no the ins and outs at the club and every bit of gossip. All i'm interested in is results and that the club is being run in a professional manner which i have no doubt it is.IMHO if the press are reporting negatively about NC then in my eyes he is doing his job. Has the the last few years shown us nothing if not that the press are just parasites willing to print any old cobblers to sell their muck and they don't give a damm about fact or fiction!

26 pages and from what i have read not one single fact that says Cortese is about to walk.....its easy to get emmotionally carried away and hooked by tabloid headlines stating doom and gloom about the football club we all love. Am i worried?....yes...if there really is any truth in the RUMOURS....and lets face it thats all they are. I should immagine that a man like NC considers his future at least every 6 months if not more times a year.....how many offers do you think he has had from other parties since being in charge of Saints that we will never know about. Its the end of the season, we have achieved our goal and survived our first season back....NC will now and for some time no doubt be considering his future and every option open to him. I have no doubt he has a vision to make us one of the top 6 sides in the Premiership.....the man is driven, he has excellent contacts and people that no doubt would be interested in buying the club if it was for sale.....but i immagine the club would omly be sold under one condition....to carry on what ML started. Yes i hope both Chairman and Manager are here for the new season and my gut feeling is they will be.

whatever the truth is out there ......for one thing it is very unsettling for the fans and the players. Sure this may be all a big game being played out to manouverve the owners into making the correct decision that most fans want to see.....stability!....and that means NC staying......but if there really is a chance that NC is walking away then i honestly think its a complete disaster and all the good work done since his arrival will have been for nothing!

so pleased Palace beat Brighton, can't stand Poyet......now Watford to beat Palace please, can't stand Holloway either....lol
