Why are we conceding so many goals?
forever a red and white replied to iansums's topic in The Saints
would have to disagree with having James in midfield ahead of Morgan, neither Hammond or James has the creativity he does. Although he doesn;t get many assits he gets what i like to call second assits, the pass, that leads to the pass for the goal. Anotonio is still very raw atm and Papa is far too unpredictable, maybe James can be given ago there? bit more cover for Murty and a guranteed good delievery. However, please can we take James off corners and free kicks becasue they aren't good enough atm and we need to take more advantage of the arieal presence in the team. -
we should be careful not to underestimate Norwich, won something like 9/10 and will be in great form. They have been nothing short of promotion for since Lambert took over, so i would be happy with a draw. Yes getting a win would be excellent and get us back on track but right now it is important not to lose two games running so we can reach, what appears to be our forgotten target to many people on here and that is getting out of the relegation zone. Having said that we didn't go on an 8 or 9 unbeaten sequence ourselves for notihng. A 1-0 win would be perfect to clear some of the defensive demons that we have had for the last ten games or so. We must tighten up

mate how did u set this up?

Saints Vs Brighton - Post Match Discussion
forever a red and white replied to Ponty's topic in The Saints
Today very much exposed our defensive weaknesses that have been there previously but have gone unoticed due to the amount of goals we have been scoring. Murty will be a welcome addition back to the first XI and although i like James he is too hit and miss. We desperately need a bit of pace in the central of defence. Trotman has had a good season so far, but as i suggested in another post recently, without Jaidi feel he would not have looked the player he has, and was very much to blame for positioning in second goal where he got no where near the throwing. Anotonio also hit and miss but perhaps the players were tired. But has been a great run and we haven;t been unbeaten in eight for nothing, players will get a kick up the ass and be better for it no doubt. COYR -
the aim this season was to consolidate, we can;t rebulid all over again, we have plently of cover. We look strong atm but the plan was probably to have a proper crack at it next season, by all means have a go if we are there, but this season could be perfect for preparing the current squad for a much harder season next year, where the expectations really will be a lot higher
-
very nice to keep the winning run going, take the positives from the game but don't look to much into it as a measure of where we are becasue, if that was a league game i think we would have seen a much more motivated charlton side, whos main goal in promotion. Having said that you can only beat whats in front of you and a step closer to Wembley!
-
on top of that, the costs for some of those fans travelling to Scotland and vice versa would be ridiculous
-
Actually i think you will find it protects a club like Bolton, they move into a second tier of the PL, meaning they don;t have fixtures as tough as playing the top 4, and if you in the top tier, relegation means less of an impact on the club. Personally, Celtic and Rangers can stay where they are and we should leave the system as it is

sort of attitude that is more likely to bring an abrupt end to our unbeaten run

tbh as much as i love pardew having plan a and b, it is very predictable what we are going to do and what players are going to come on, so in that sense it is easier to prepare for. Having said that you can't have hundreds of formations and tatics becasue it won't help the team, its just a case or relying on the quality of the players to overcome the teams in front of us

personally i want the england cricket three lions on my arm and at the top of my back, not on dispaly a small ball and halo
-
still shoudln;t sign him permantly, he is still young and no where near the finished article, get him on loan for the ret of the season and see how he gets on and make a better informed decsion then
-
if anyone read the bbc article Markus was certainly investigating into our past, give him a chance, i'm grateful for him saving us. Perhaps as fans we need to stop searching for small isues to exploit and focus on the this season.
-
prediction 1-1 heard it here first
-
i really think we need to keep our feet on the ground. One loss and suddenly things look different. the fans, the players and the staff should focus on one game at a time and completing small targets e.g. getting out of r zone. This is not unambitious but careful and considerate planning. Tbh after saturdays game i think that had we been playing championship opposition we would have been punished. Yes we have improved and yes we have the funds to improve but as pardew said we are not the finished article so lets enjoy the wins and postivie results but remain patient and not get over excited because we have seen the affects of irrational thinknig

a couple of good games does not make u a prem player, its about playing well consistency, Lallana has struggled for this in the past, now he has found it and needs to keep it for the rest of the season and he will continue to develop as he is, learning the game week in, week out, for him to move now would be rather naieve
-
Another great result yesterday, we really seem to be buliding something here, PArdew has plan A and plan B, and we have depth, loving every second of this, but we have to stay realisitc. We are by no means the finished article and we and the players must keep our feet on the ground, getting a good league finish would be good for us this season and promotion should be the target next season when we are stronger and know we will be able to compete well in the championship. But long may these results continue and loving seeing a winning Saints again, a year ago we would have folded in that game.

played well against good opposition, however needs to be a bit more calm got a little too excited at the end, and almlost gave the ball away crucially at the end
