Did we really expect anything other than a pretty resounding defeat. Let's be honest most people are probably hacked off because we actually scored and took the lead - but it was never going to last. We are not good enough for this division and the amount of goals we have leaked is shocking.

So, from WAG's to fashion police in 12 posts. Pretty cool.

Did anybody really expect any different?

Whether he is finished or not, I personally would like to thank him for his efforts. His efforts have seen this club through the darkest days in many years of the clubs history - he has helped in our elevation to the top level once again. He had offers to go and 'swan' elsewhere (probably for more sheckles too) - but he stuck it out with us and got us through two promotions. Yeah, we can throw him on the scrap heap now - he's beyond his best, nowhere near good enough and well over the hill. But, not beyond thanking though.

I still think that the 'winning mentality' is very important - obviously though we now need to look objectively at it. Would we realistically expect to win against the sides that we have played - probably not in most cases. Therefore I don't thinks that the players should lose too much confidence when you consider the Manchester displays and results. However today's result was a bit of a tonking no matter how you dress it up and that obviously will affect confidence. If the players keep their nerve - we should be ok. If they don't - the championship beckons.

I'll do it - pretty sure I can match 'played 4, lost 4' - no sweat.

Given that I never actually expected us to do very well in this league - I won't become worried. Relegation was never a certainty - but it was and still is a distinct possibility. Our start was never going to be easy, but the problem is how it affects the players confidence - if we get cut adrift early, we could end up doing a Derby. If the players keep belief - we could well survive, who knows. The upshot is I'm not going to be worried at all this season - we are favourite to be relegated, anything else is a bonus - therefore nothing whatsoever to worry about.

Errr pedant alert pending, but we ain't at bloody Highbury....!!!!

This, this and this a thousand times over. The sports punditry in general is absolutely shocking - most of the contributors to this site could give you a far detailed analysis of most teams in the league. Great (and justified) rant.

This is very true - and something that many seem to have forgotten about. I know it's not the best scenario, and survival this season is preferable - but it we go down, it isn't the end of the world.
-
Whatever you do - DON'T do that FC. I went and did twenty minutes gardening when we were 1 nil down - if you go gardening now, this could be the worst defeat ever.....!

So what with the new takeover well in place, the maintenance man looking to open accounts, they could pretty well be back in business and flying soon. So credible, I can see said maintenance worker just throwing liters of this down the drain: All their problems solved.

I don't think that you can be 'morally obliged' to do anything - he may not possess any morals. It is a case of whether legally he should contact the company to remind them that he is not in receipt of a bill - and that, I do not know.

Using the calculator in my head - I'm fooked..!

When I heard that he was being lined up for sky I so, so wanted him to fail, be shyte, etc. (Sad bitter fan in me I guess). But I have to say that he has been top drawer, looked a little nervous on his first outing (MNF), but only to be expected really - but has gone from strength to strength since. I have little doubt that Ed Chamberlain has had much to do with his mentoring - but Gary Neville now looks, sounds and presents himself as a seasoned TV pundit. Really impressed with his knowledge about the game, love the way he is totally unbiased, gives credit where due and not afraid to critisize Utd - also his analysis and explanation is first class. As an aside saw his brother Phil being interviewed by Ed and Gary a couple of weeks back and have to say that he too sounds intelligent, articulate and interesting. Spoke very fluently about Everton's good start to the season and the 'feel good' factor in and around the dressing room. Not somebody that you see do a lot of interviews, but he took it in his stride and looked pretty natural in front of the cameras. Any bets on 'The Neville & Neville show', live on sky in a couple of years.

Ummm - Stokes loss is our gain.
-
I noticed that as well - a little worrying if we can't sell out for this level of match.
-
If we are taking the positives out of that game, fine. I'm positive that if we give away stupid corners we don't leave the likes of RVP the freedom of the six yard box to get an unopposed header. I'm positive that we don't make substitutions to our most effective players - especially at home. I'm positive that we don't try to defend against the likes of Man U for the last 25 minutes.
-
We'll win.

Story, what story - it's a guess, nothing more, nothing less - bloody worst sort of journalism ever.... SAINT HARRY Redknapp set for St Mary's return "Former Southampton boss Harry Redknapp will be offered the Saints job again if Nigel Adkins side struggle in the Premier League...." Mind you they are correct, IF we do badly in the Premier League, HR and probably 10 other managers will be 'offered' Nigel's job - that's football. Can't see it being imminent though.
-
But that is NORMAL sky service - that's what they always do - run the (same) newsreel over, and over, and over again. I don't know why you expected any different.
-
I think the Kraken has called it really. Lawrenson has a pretty lazy style about him anyway. All he's doing here is highlighting the fact that we are likely to be without points for 3 - 4 games and questioning whether the owners will start to get twitchy. Decent shout really.

Not for me thanks - but willing to be proved wrong. Also as he above said - odd thread.
