  1. Personally I like Alpines opening gambit on this one - it was an iconic commentary about an iconic aircraft at a very important time in recent history. Whose to say that another 'Falklands conflict' will not happen again? I don't know, but if it did we would be very stretched to respond in the way we did back in the 80's. As for the 'old bird' herself - absolutely stunning aircraft, VTOL capability also afforded it combat manouvres (VIFFing) that gave it the edge in dog fights too. Probably too old and too dated now - but in it's time, a real force to be reckoned with. I'm with Alpine on this one - sad to see them retired. Edit: the commentary and more information here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/correspondents/newsid_2626000/2626477.stm
  2. Doooh, see comment above (post #60)....!
  3. Yikes...! Which one was it fellas, or were you at different games....!
  4. I think that Hull and NP will be in the box seat for this one, but would be a great aquisition if we could pull it off.
  5. We need RL to start finding his form, would appear that we are creating but not finishing. When did Rickie last stick a free kick in the bag - seems ages to me. While we are in touch, I would keep him in - if he finds his form we will be well up there come the reckoning.
  6. Stanley knife anyone - new blade installed, never been used...!
  7. Is it time to start wooting yet - this is doing my head in....
  8. Not that I'm greedy - but a RL hattrick right now would go down a storm...
  9. Goal difference is taking us up the table at the moment so the more the merrier.
  10. Good luck to him, not blessed with football talent - but testiment to what you can achieve with hard work and determination - hope he does well at OUFC.

  13. I'm absolutely gutted that the Echo are still banned, it impacts masively on my viewing pleasure of said publication.... doooh, ok - it doesn't really...! Couldn't care one iota if there are pictures or not - really, what is the big deal over a picture in the Echo...?
  14. We're gonna win the cup, we're gonna win the cup.....

  17. Hi guys, currently in a hotel in Germany with a shed load of work to do, no chance of reading the whole thread - anybody give me a quick update please..
  18. Alas I fear that you might well be clutching at straws there. Honesty and integrity count for absolutely nothing in todays game, it is a 'high roller' industry and money is king. I honestly think that the powers that be just want this whole sorry saga to quietly die a death and be done with it - personally that is what I think will happen. Pompey could very well get promoted this season but a few football chairmen blowing hot after they have achieved this is not going to make any difference. If they want to voice concerns - now is the time to do it, not after the event. As yet nobody has even commented. When you look at the recent Rooney 'negotiations' and the way the game is manipulated to suit those clubs in the ascendancy it is hard to see where any kind of reality actually exists. At the end of the day you have to hold your hands up to Pompey and say that (like it or not) they rolled the dice and won. A lot of inocents got hurt in the aftermath but, really, what the hell do they care.
  19. This is true, coupled with the fact that some people know absolutely naff all about football as well...!
  20. Not complaining tonight, 3 points away from home is welcome from any game. Not going overboard about the '2 points from second' either - lots of other teams are there or there abouts as well. Bottom line - forget the table, keep picking up the points and the rest will see itself right. Well done lads - now Nige, a quick word in some ears about win celebratory drinks, just to be on the safe side eh...!!!
  21. F u c k m e Dalek, quit with the hystericals eh...! What you going to do, exterminate the lot of them....!
  22. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacinto_El%C3%A1 Jacinto is now living in Spain and is dedicated to his own clothing line called Malabona (the name refers to Malabo). He's brother of the also footballer Ruslán Elá, who was born in Spain but that's naturalized Equatoguinean.
  23. OK, I'll concede - you do have a point. It's wrong, but you do have a point.
