A lot can happen between now and the end of the season - but how many times have we failed to kick on, to take chances when other teams have dropped points. When you compare our squad and resources to Brighton (who win, win, win - consistantly), you can see when people get despondant. Call me pesimistic, but I can see the worse coming....

You just know that Bournemouth will beat us in the final - it's going to happen....

Good read - 73K fans - will be interesting to see the attendance this year. Good luck to Carlisle though.

What all them said.... ^^^^^^^^^^^

Would tend to agree - did my half badge some years ago - was not an easy course. Think we had about 32 on the course and about a third of them failed, as I recall most (I think) failed one, or both of the written exams.

Depends on how long the OF's have worked for the company though. Generally speaking, the longer they have worked the better redundancy package they would be entitled to, so it may be an attractive proposition to them. However, if they don't want to accept a voluntary package there is little you can do. You should also remember, that although you are younger, if they have worked there for a long period of time, then surely they are good at their jobs also. My son has been made redundant twice, from joinery firms, and a lot of the older guys were kept on. Don't want to sound negative about this for you, but age may not come into it at the end of the day.

I don't know that there is such a LIFO rule as such, it is just a sort of unofficial 'loyalty' policy that many companys seem to adopt. Most (big) companies will look to offer voluntary redundancies first and then look to see what other cuts are necessary. Obvioulsy the overriding factor in all of this is money, and therefore they will look to save money in areas where productivity is not (necessarily) affected. So it all depends on what sort of company that you work for and what your job role is really. All of that said, last year, my company made two small departments redundant and basically just 'farmed' the work that they did onto the remaining staff. Naturally, as everybody else was fearful of losing thier jobs, nobody really complained, but it has caused major problems in many areas. Hope you manage to hang on to your job though - good luck.

Seriously though there is an article in The Sun (I know...) that I skimmed on Monday, I have it here in front of me now and it states that almost a fifth of drivers have been forced off the road due to rising petrol prices. It states that: On one stretch of the M1 traffic volumes have halved in a year There are 500k few cars in London charge zone There is a 52% fall in delays on M1 Leicester to Sheffield I am currently working in Germany, yesterday I was in the garage across from my hotel and there was a truck filling up - I glanced at the guage to see it reading 866 euros and still rising. Petrol here is generally a little cheaper than over there - but it is little wonder that traffic figures are falling at the moment. Ohh I was also listening to the news yesterday, and one of the items covered was about a builder who could not afford to drive to work, and so was living in the back of his van 4 nights a week - but saving a week (I think) £600.00 by doing so.

I'll just drive around England and have a look for you..... Back soon....

Rubbish - TDD is in the Navy - the 'home' of the Navy is in Portsmouth and therefore he should be exempt from any tax owed - surely...!!!

I used to coach kids football and on many occassions I was required to referee the matches and to be honest some of the behaviour of some parents was quite horendous. If you actually take the time to watch and listen to many of them, they are actually living out their own failed ambitions through their children - which is sad. Not all parents fit into this category, but unfortunately many do. My son was playing in a game once, and I remember one parent who stood on the side line watching his son, small ginger haired bloke, not shouting or anything - just offering the odd word of advice here and there. But then again it was probably quite easy for Gordon Strachan.

Personally I hope they survive even though their demise would greatly benefit our cause. It would set a very dangerous precedent if the FL were to get involved in order to 'prop up' any club that suffers financial difficulties and considers administration. Doing so could even encourange some clubs to look beyond thier means in order to strive for something that they do not have the asetts to achieve - thus making the whole football/money situation considerably worse than it currently is. Having been through it ourselves, we should all have sympathy with the staff and fans of Plymouth, but the FL rules are in place, and unfortunately they will have to abide by them.

The other 40% apparently...!

What would you rather have - 3 games in hand or 5 extra points?
Micky replied to kpturner's topic in The Saints
I have always said that I would much rather have the points in the bag. However I think we could get (and might need) more than the five points. Being wildley optimistic would could get all nine - so on this occasion you can keep your 5 and I'll gamble that we get at least that. -
To be fair, as it transpires - it wasn't a very clever quote. Walk the walk - then talk the talk.

Typically, and just my luck for a thread such as this, the only one that springs to mind is: http://www.andycrawford.net/naked-jungle/ (Sometimes it is probably wise not to add to threads methinks...!!)

The use of the main forum by fans of other teams
Micky replied to Spudders's topic in Site suggestions
Let's do it. -
Not the end of the world, had changes enforced on us and still came away with something, it's always tough when you lose it in the last couple of minutes. Hopefully the injuries are not bad and we have time to AL and Chambo back fit again. It's going to the wire, we ain't gonna catch Brighton now - but it's all still there to play for second.

Somebody flush this thread for gods sake...

Buy the old bint a bungalow and then she won't need the bloody hoover - problem solved.

Strangely (or not so, as the case maybe) I made the very same comment after watching a news report last night. Mobile ground defences consisting of a couple of Toyota pick ups with locally fitted gun mounts and a 'gimpy' mounted on top. 'Infantry' equipped, as you say, with 'state of the art' AK's - it is all very, very sad really.
