  1. stumbled upon this quite interesting (and recent) documentary... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axOsY2IPh24 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVWt8M1dwIE If you do watch it through, it'd be interesting to see the conflicting sides on her lock horns again for a discussion on Islam in the UK... FWIW, interesting programme, though it's worth remembering that it shouldn't be take as representative of the whole of the UK. It's reaffirmed a lot of my own observations, anyway.
  2. Such a wonderful animal. Glad the dog's OK And in other news, this week I managed to identify what the hell my dog is; It's an Akita/Alsation cross...
  3. Agreed. Though whenever I do see him, he reminds me of a real life kids figurine toy :-o
  4. Thanks Bompey. You're not that bad after all.
  5. Don't let Palace know we're releasing him
  6. Yes again.
  7. Thanks for repeating what I was about to say. The biggest bottler I've ever seen :-o
  8. Good point - I should probably re-title the thread with the theme relief/sadness when a player leaves... but I can't Pahars
  9. We've had a few shockers over the years but what players were you happy to see leave and never see again? I have to say I was delighted to see Jermaine Wright leave (though he was always an honest, hard working player, he was frustratingly rubbish but left with our best wishes). I was also delighted to see Nigel Quashie leave during 05/06 as he'd nominated himself the free kick/corner/penalty specialist of the side and it was getting rather irritating watching a player he now considered himself Pele after we dropped out of the PL. Once again, hardworking player and put in some great performances but a relief after we'd offloaded him in the mid-season cull after GB's arrival. One player I was absolutely delighted to see leave was Mikael Nilsson. Bottler and incredibly rubbish. Same goes for Delap... but it appears I got that call wrong, anyway! What players were you delighted to see leave? Players that left with your best wishes and ones that you were just happy to see the back of, finally...
  10. Yes, but considering he made space for Rob Lee and Steve Stone as opposed to Matt Le Tissier is a bit... f()cking dumb (though if IIRC, he had a bit of a wobbly season under Merrington scoring only 10 goals). Same applies to Hoddle two years later, though Le Tissier, despite his immense showing in the 'B' game was still paying for England's loss against Italy with which he had little to be blamed for. That and leaking the squad, of course. Such a shame. He should never, ever have got only 8 caps.
  11. Why don't they go the whole hog and invite Hamilton Thorp, Robbie Enes, John Aloisi and Andy Petterson back? Surely they could use the numbers...
  12. Home game in the evening? Didn't Baird score in that game after scoring at Pride Park and hitting the post at home to WBA? Already carving himself out as a master set-piece specialist
  13. Most teams in the Conferences have 60-100,000 capacity stadiums :-o
  14. ... you can probably throw Brian Clough into that reasoning as well!
  15. Likewise! Don't know if I was still in the correct row let alone seat after that goal!
  16. Whoops! Probably forgot it completely as I never made it to that game but an excellent shout! I remember fearing the worst in anticipation of that game, especially as we were in a very, very delicate position at that point in the season.
  17. As Saints fans, it's fair to say we've had our share ups and downs. However, in recent memory, one season does stand out for me as a good one, although ultimately a part of our downfall. Putting the Wilde chairmanship and Burley-disliking aside, do any of you have any great memories from 06/07? For me, there was plenty. Despite what is sometimes alluded to on here, I remember us playing some fantastic football at times and being involved in some great games. Brum at home (a humdinger of a game in which big Kenwyne finally announced his transition from plodding donkey to dangerous target man), Sunderland away (Bale's last minute goal and the crowd's surge held back by a steward mysteriously similar looking to Brian Barwick), The awesome farewell to Alan Ball in the 4-1 win against Southend, Surman's opening goal against Derby in the first play off and Viafara/Rasiak's party pooping exploits at Pride Park (sadly, once again, to no avail). The emergence of Bale, Best, Cranie, Surman, Baird and Jones as first team players was also great to see, too. Though the emotion of the rollercoaster season is still imprinted into my mind. The good times, as above, as well as the bad. The Crossley leveller at Hillsborough, the kick-the-living-crap-out-of-Saints best players tactics by Billy Davies' Derby, the disappointing away days (Southend et al). The incessant overlooking Belmadi and the frustrating selection of Jermaine Wright in almost every game. Plenty of elation, plenty of emotion but sadly, no end reward. Still, it's nice to have those memories; I just hope we can create few more! So... putting aside the boardroom embarrassments and Burley-bashing, does anyone have any further personal anecdotes or memories from that season?
  18. Wow, the goals still amaze me to this day. What angers me more is how he never got more caps. There is simply no good reason or excuse for that. He was so good he had goal of the season competitions with himself. Anyway... does anyone remember when Corp Ho said Robert Prosinecki was better? ROFLCOPTERS
  19. That's all very well, but is he Jono quick?
  20. http://www.cpfc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=217026 Apparently knows one of the lads 'involved' :-/ On a sidenote, some very nice comments from Palace fans. Even a jealous skate (well, acts like one) gets shouted down, too
  21. Saints keep signing the wrong Stephens'
  22. Haha ok, thanks Don't want to start a witch hunt, mind, just interested to see if it correlates with other past and recent comments from some people...
  23. Out of interest, who were the advocates of the SISU deal on here? Roflcopters...
