Just out of interest at these stupid/foolish personboard meets how do you all recognise each other? Do you go round the pub introducing yourself to groups of sorry looking men who look like the would be forum posters saying 'hi I'm Lou from Saintsweb' and see if they know what you're on about or do you wear your saints shirt with your user name on the back?

I consider it a badge of honour that j wasn't. Stick to make pals online Lou.

Cute, plucky little club. They'll have the time of their lives in the premier league. They might pick up a few points, get to visit a few big grounds like old Trafford, Anfield, St Mary's, get a few photos, half and half scarves etc. They even might win a game or two or be plucky losers, bless 'em.

Sad f*ck

I'm pretty sure he cost £750k, which was the same price as Monkou. Our striking talent in those days was incredible along with Speedie and Dixon we could boast Ian Dowie, Nicky Banger, Paul moody, Frankie Bennett and Craig Maskell. To think people moan about our players now!
-
I've always said he was a decent lower league chairman, a Neil Warnock of chairman, good in the lower leagues but got found out at top level. As so it has been proven. He's played a key part in our success but he's rightly been replaced by someone to take us to the next level. Anyway stop taking this subject off topic, it's about Perry Groves and former players in the 90's not our glorious former CEO.
-
Stop trolling me Road Saint. Concentrate on the post subject, which was the amount of money squandered by a previous chairman. If anything its a complement to Nick Nack that someone was better at it than him.
-
I cant remember his name but i'm pretty sure he played semi proffesional football once.
-
that was Speedie. He was at Blackburn at the time, Dixon was still at Chelsea. When they both signed that great quote from Branfoot "Dixon and Speedie will score more goals than Alan Shearer this season" They didnt even make as many appearances between them as goals scored by Shearer.
-
We signed him, Dixon and Monkou with the Shearer money, plus got in Speedie. Only Monkou was any good. Askham could have given Nick Nack lessons in how to spunk money away.
-
Agreed. Depending on which report you read he is on between £40k-£60k already at Villa so you'd think he'd want a decent rise on that should he move. You're looking at £60k-£80k a week minimum i'd say.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3029593/Tottenham-chairman-Daniel-Levy-plans-new-transfer-policy-based-resale-risks-setting-club-10-years.html Spurs fans wont be happy with this and if it goes wrong Poch will get the blame.

Yep, that's about the figure I had in mind.

Because he'd take a wild swing at it and smash it 20 foot over the bar.

How much do you think villa would ask? The scenarios are totally different around Lukaku and Benteke. Benteke will have 2 years left on his contract, he cost them £7m. He's not been in the best of form this season. Lukaku meanwhile cost Chelsa £18m and was rated a huge prospect last season with many surprised Chelsea sold him. They have a huge income with a billionaire owner and champions league football every year. Meanwhile Villla are struggling their chairman is not investing in the side, most of their incoming transfers were free last summer, there are rumours he wants to sell the club. He may well want to cash in now or if they stay up they might well cash in to strengthen other areas of the squad which is most definitely needs. IF they go down Benteke will almost certainly want to go as he'll also be forced to take a pay cut. There is no doubt he'll likely cost a club record fee for saints but as you say proven strikers come at a cost, just not all like the cost of Lukaku.
-
He would cost no where near what Lukaku cost.
-
Agreed. With a fit and firing Benteke we would be a very strong outfit.
-
It'll cost you £75 a person to get back.

Have the BBC got this wrong about Europa League qualification?
Turkish replied to niceandfriendly's topic in The Saints
If it's a Liverpool v arsenal final and they've both already qualified for Europe do the losing semi finalists play off for the place that would be given to the losing finalist? -
Not forgetting Peles woeful defensive performance in the first leg and the oddest own goal you'll ever see in the second. They beat us over two legs and finished above us in the table, not sure how anyone can say they screwed us.
-
Is the prospect of our highest finish in 30 years not something to cheer about?
-
No one likes to be called stupid.

As opposed to your every post abusing people on a forum of a club you don't support.
