Weird football grounds you've been to... or would like to go to
Turkish replied to Crab Lungs's topic in The Lounge
/\ whose ground is that? -
Just remember people, Burnley beat Man U 1-0 in their first home game of the season when they were up. Teams don't get into a head of steam until November time, a few players might not be fully fit after the euros, the new signings might not have gelled. I'm clutching at straws.

The Vine used to be decent, not been in there for ages though. Used to love Louisianas BITD, long since gone though sadly. Many a good night in there.
-
Monk obviously knows what he's on about, which makes him in the minority on here, he is one person I listen to on here about football matters. Bit premature to say JWP is better than Cleverly though who's played for Man U and been called up for England, the lad does look class though, in the one friendly I've seen him play in. IMO of course.

It'll cost a lot more than 5m. Plus the other thing is we can offer premier league football now and theyll get it much quicker here. I'm still sure they'll both move eventually, probably to champions league clubs but we should be able to keep them for longer until they are established premier league players. Bit like Villa did with Young, Milner, Barry and Downing. Key it to them reinvest in quality and have the next batch of players coming through, which hopefully cat A status will mean we have a conveyor belt of young talent.

Let it go Timmy, let it go. So bitter, its not healthy you know.
-
Fully agree. I've made the point several times on here that we are great when we are dominating teams but when our backs are against the wall and we're under pressure we are found wanting. So many times last season we gave sloppy goals away. We're going to be under a lot more pressure this season and will need plenty of quality defensive performances to come away with points, especially away from home.

How can this be? An interesting thread, which was started by me, someone who you say only posts tripe and your omly contributions to have been about me. I agree let's get back to the thread, it's good and not let Barry George ruin it. (see I've even given you a silly nickname so i can be as funny as you, do you like that Barry?)
-
From now on I will only post about you do I can be as interesting as you are.
-
Show him the new pitchside red felt and let him have a go on the barcode scanners. That'll seal the deal.
-
The funny thing is and what a lot of people forget is that almost immediately after he came on he had a chance to score, unsurprisingly he missed but had he got lucky it and tucked it away we might have been stuck with him for 3 years.

Alberto Aquilani at Liverpool. £20m, signed injured and been on loan ever since.
-
Maybe the reason we pulled out of the Buttner deal?

Can London offer cream teas in the New Forest, Beaulieu motor museum, the boat show, the Bargate, the titanic museum, cycling round th common on a summers day, Hamble, riverside park, camping trips to Brockenhurst! Peppa Pig world and Marwell Zoo? Not everyone wants the glitz and glamour of trendy nightclubs, michelen star restaurants, some of the best clothes shops in Europe in one of the worlds greatest cities you know.

So would I. So that is two people already who would prefer quality of life over quality of bank balance. What's to say Theo would be any different.
-
Timmy, you really need to let this bitterness go. I've said on other threads that I've taken on board what people have said will now only be making serious points on here. If you check my post history in the last few days I've also politely asked other people to stop trolling. As for your 'as usual' remark, I've already started one very positive thread this weekend so I take umbrage with this comment and find this actually quite offensive.

What price do you put on happiness? It's not like he'll be struggling to get by on the wages Saints are offering. And as we've been told many times before this area has a lot to offering a young footballer which has a value which far exceeds an extra 0 on your bank balance.

And our academy graduates.
-
That's more like it! Although a year will be pushing it. Given we made the premier league 3 years into a 5 year plan I'd suggest within 2 years is more likely, so still ahead of schedule.
-
This is why. People assume its all about money. Theo is a nice young man who fits our profile. There is every chance this one can happen.
-
Is something funny? Our chairman has delivered on everything he promised and done it quicker. Why do you think it's not possible for us to challenge for the champions league place in that time scale?
-
The commentator was trying desperately hard to make Ben Ainsleys race sound interesting but it rates as probably one of the dullest things I've ever seen.
-
Quite. If someone has told Man City fans in 2002 that 10 years later they'd have won the league and signed one of Man Uniteds best players for £30m and paying them £200k a week they'd think you were mad.
-
Would you go as far as to say they are viewing things with an outlook which would have been better suited to residence as a former home of Southampton FC?
