Wasn't my favourite player in the world and I don't want us to sign him, but I think the level of hate directed towards Best from Saints fans is a bit OTT. He scored some important goals which helped us get into the play-offs, before he had that nightmare game at Derby. Not like he scored the OG/missed the penalty on purpose. He's obviously got a lot better since he left us and has a respectable scoring record for Newcastle in the Premier League

Written a new blog on my top 15 away games of the FL era (2005-2012). I know most people have their minds well and truly on the PL at the moment, but sometimes it's good to look back every now and again too. Give it a read http://www.thesaintshub.com/top15awaygames.html What are everybody else's favourite away games from the past 7 years?

Couldn't care less about England or international football in general. No way am I going to support a team full of ****s like John Terry.
-
He was great in the 2006/07 season Poor in 2007/08, so much so that he was dropped for Mario Licka. He only came back into the side when others go injured Hit and miss during 2008/09, but largely disappointing. Fair play to him he's done very well at Norwich. Like you said wouldn't get near our team now though.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
Papa Shango replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
Oh yeah I completely agree. As much as it pains me to say, I think our current squad would have little chance of staying up. We need strengthening, but then pretty much every club coming up into the Prem from the Champ does. -

We got 19 points from our last 10 games, exactly the same as West Ham. Take your point though. -
Exactly. I don't like Blatter at all, but a lot of his comments get twisted. The idea that him and Platini hate all things English is completely false. Sadly a lot of people seem to fall for the media spin.

'Fourth Official' is just some 15 year old kid who copies and pastes from other dodgy sources. Why so many people hang on his every word I'll never know. I guess some people are just desperate for gossip. The majority of people claiming to be agents on Twitter are just sad muppets looking for attention Don't know why anyone would listen to Talksport in this day and age. Plenty of great football podcasts out there if you need something to listen too.

Hope he stays for a bit longer, has a really bad start to the season before getting sacked after we beat them ala Hoddle in 2003.

Me, although Ashton Gate is one of my least favourite grounds

Have noticed that, absolutely cringeworthy. I'd be embarrassed if we did something similar, the love ins with Southend/Walsall/Cov etc were bad enough. What's worse, I've seen a few pompey fans talking about coming down on July 14th to support Rangers at St Marys, even though they've actually got a game of their own that day.

I've heard many racist slurs directed at Guly and other black players over the years. You're incredibly naive if you think it doesn't go on.
-
A friend of mine ran in to Rickie Lambert in a hotel just before the Blackpool game in March, and Lambert told him the players rate Guly as one of the best players at the club. The fact that Nigel Adkins picked him nearly every week should tell you how highly he rates him. I'd rather trust his opinion on Guly than the clueless mongs in the Northam who don't know the first thing about tactics. The stick he got from the crowd really ****ed me off last season. Yes he had bad games, but so did everyone else. I disagree with people saying he did nothing in the second half of the season. He didn't get any goals, but his general play was good, particularly during March. His defensive/off the ball work is so underrated.
-
Once again you seem to be confusing your fantasy computer game world with real life.
-
I know he attends at least some away games, not sure if it's all. He has been seen at plenty of U21 and academy games too

We will walk the 2013/14 Champions League

Might be in the minority on this one, but I'd love for us to sign Yakubu. Proven Premier League goalscorer. Can't see it happening though.
-
You heard wrong. Have been lucky enough to meet Seaborne before and he's one of the nicest blokes you'll ever come across. As for Forecast, I would love it if he's given a contract extension at the end of his deal, just to wind people up As others have said it really doesn't matter that much. He must be on tiny wages compared to the rest of the squad.

On the subject of Wilde, who remembers the cringe-worthy 'Lets go Wilde' t-shirts? Did anyone actually buy one?
-
It's all very well saying get rid of this player and that player but it's not that simple. Some of the people mentioned in this thread are on fairly big contracts, and won't be easy to shift. I know Dan Harding and Dean Hammond are well settled and have both recently moved into new houses so won't be keen to move. Most if not all of the regulars from last season will stay. Only the obvious names like Holmes and Doble will go. I know we've been linked to about a million players already, but we'll probably only bring in about 4/5 new faces I reckon. A few new faces in defence and we'll be fine.
-
Agreed. It's nobody else's business.

Cheers for the kind words folks
