  1. Yes, I thought that too and that our goal was offside twice, but I take it back that Lambert was offside after seeing the video on the reaction thread
  2. Am I the only one who thought that Rickie was offside when Lallana (I think) flicked it on to him for our 2nd goal?? Lino seemed to think about it for a couple of seconds too
  3. He was on crutches with a protective boot on the injured foot on Thursday :/
  4. Anyone found out anymore about this?
  5. Richard Chaplow v Peterborough/Huddersfield. (H) The one when he finished Dean Hammond's right wing cross Alex Chamberlain v Walsall (H) Rickie Lambert v Bournemouth (A) Dean Hammond v Peterborough (A) David Connolly v Brentford (A) Lee Barnard v Peterborough (H) Adam Lallana v Bournemouth (H, Cup) Richard Chaplow v Man Utd (H)
  6. v Carlisle 28/03/10 v Pompey (Marian's goal) v Derby (playoffs away) v Norwich 2009/10 (Connolly's goal) v Spurs 2004ish (Delap's overhead)
  7. Hate to break it to you but it was 100% offside. I was sat in Block 4 and it was clearly offside, even if he did come back from that position to head it in. I actually said 'Guly's offside' as the cross was hit and unfortunately the lino agreed with me and plenty of others around me.
  8. Great day out, especially nice to win after all the gloating about being champions. eg. '...and lining up for the Champions today, in goal CHAMPION Casper Ankergren.... etc' and all their ridiculous gloating songs and 'Mind the gap' warnings on the tannoy. Not to mention their ridiculous hatred for Nige. Anyway: Kelvin Davis - 7 - Made the saves he had to but kept playing some dodgy short passes. Ryan Dickson - 8 - Got forward well and put some decent balls in. Solid defensively. Jose Fonte - 9 - Solid as usual in defence and what a header and celebration!! Radhi Jaidi - 6 - Big mistake for their goal, looked a bit shaky for a while after that. Danny Butterfield - 7 - Put in some good crosses, notably for our first goal. Oscar Gobern - 7 - Did what he did pretty well. Seemed scared to shoot on occasions early in the second half. Richard Chaplow - 8 - Hard-working, effective performance. Dean Hammond - 7 - His usual tough-tackling, hard-working self. Guly - 6 - Unpredictable as usual. Jonathan Forte - 6 - Didn't seem to get much of the ball. Rickie Lambert - 7 - Won his fair share of headers, including the knock-down for our first goal. Adam Lallana - 8 - Creative as usual. David Connolly - 8 - Crucial goal, great finish.
  9. Ermmmm, just to point out there are not 85 seconds in a minute.... :/ ahahahahaa
  10. ------------------------------Davis------------------------------ Butterfield-----------Fonte--------------Jaidi--------------Harding Stephens-----------Hammond---------Chaplow-------------Lallana ----------------------Barnard---------Lambert-------------------- Subs: Bialkowski, Seaborne, Gobern, Guly, Connolly, Forte, N'Guessan Plenty of attacking options from the bench, although admittedly with the sacrifice of Richardson. 2-0 win
  11. Davis - 8 - Not much to do but one crucial, crucial save onto the bar. Distribution much better than usual too. Harding - 7 - Solid as usual, our most threatening player going forward from the back. Fonte - 7 - In control as usual, but a bit more hoofing than normal. Jaidi - 7 - Won the majority of headers as always, was seriously worried he was going to get a second yellow though. Butterfield - 7 - Solid, with some good forward play. Lallana - 9 - MOTM, our biggest threat going forward, sublime control and skill at times, won free kicks, kept possession, set up chances - brilliant! Chaplow - 7 - Controlled the midfield well enough. Hammond - 8 - Was our better central midfielder, got stuck in and scored the crucial goal. Chamberlain - 8 - Wasn't involved as much as he is when at his best, but did well when he got the ball, kept possession, ran at opponents and won freekicks. Barnard - 8 - Tireless as usual and looked threatening. Lambert - 8 - Won his fair share of headers, great work to set up the first and sublime freekick. Seaborne - 7 - Didn't do much but was solid. Gave us an extra aerial advantage at left back. Gobern - 7 - Looked good until the silly challenge. Richardson - N/A Overall day out - 10 - Cracking atmosphere from the Saints fans, didn't stop singing for 90 mins (plus the time we were held against our will!). Great performance from the team and great to see how much it meant to them from the celebrations after the goals and at the end (Jaidi, Hammond and Rickie in particular). Most importantly though - HUGE 3 points!! :D
  12. Haha sorry. Our U14s won 7-3, 2 goals in literally the first 3 mins. They play four 20 min quarters and it was 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. No goals in the second. Reading got one back from a poor kick from our keeper. We then scored 5 in the last two quarters, also missing a penalty and Reading got one from another keeping error on our part. Deserved win in the end. I've officiated on the U13s as well twice in the last few weeks and must say that our left back (Olly I think he's called) looks a brilliant prospect as does our right back and the striker who is the tallest player in the team (if anyone can work out who they are!).
  13. Nice to hear. I was there officiating on the U14s game and apparently Nige and Andy Crosby watched that for a while too. I didn't notice (obviously concentrating too hard ) and the only way I knew the first team was there was that I was parked next to a car with the numberplate F6NTE hahaa
  14. I think you'll find that one of the Southampton assistants is me...

  16. top drawer and the latest one about Guly - 'It was poetry in motion'
  17. Brilliant performance. One of the best i've seen in a long time. Bialkowski - 8 - One fantastic save and looked very solid otherwise. Some sliced kicked second half but we're used to that with our keepers Harding - 7 - His usual solid self, getting forward when he could. Seaborne - 8 - Has definitely improved over the time he has been at the club and seems more keen to pass to feet now rather than hoofing. Good performance. Martin - 7 - Solid enough in the air but lucky to get away with a couple of mis-controls and a dodgy backpass. Hope he gets more 1st team experience. Richardson - 8 - Put in some fantastic tackles and made some good passes and crosses. First choice right-back in my opinion. Lallana - 8 - His usual entertaining, skilful self. Very happy he has signed a new contract. Hammond - 8 - Won the ball back brilliantly throughout the game, worked hard and distributed well. Schneiderlin - 10 - Fantastic. One of his best games for us. Ran the show in midfield, won tackles, pounced on every mis-control and made some super passes. MOTM Puncheon - 8 - Best game since he first joined us. Controlled well, showed some good skill and looked dangerous. Barnard - 8 - Worked hard as usual, took his goal very calmly, good to have him back to give Nige some selection dilemmas. Lambert - 9 - Looked dangerous all day, won lots of headers to set up attacks. Shame he didn't shoot from range earlier when he had the chance. Dickson - 9 - Looked fantastic when he came on. Made a super run and worked very hard to win the ball back. Guly - 9 - What a goal!!!! Goal of the round i'm sure. Chamberlain - 7 - Good pace to go through on goal but should have passed to Puncheon for a certain goal. Adkins - 9 - Tactics spot-on as well as team selection. TOP MAN!
  18. Seems like a good signing although the news about injuries is a bit worrying. However, we can't have a worse injury situation than we had for most of last season surely?! Dimi and Kabir were out for most of last season so if they're fit this season it'd be a welcome bonus!
  19. Exactly. There were at least 10 Saints fans who jumped on Lallana and the players who were celebrating with him and as they all turned to walk away, 2 cops just grabbed the poor bloke and ejected him. I saw it all and thought it was very very harsh. It seemed to be a case of the police just nicking someone or nicking someone's sake. Hope he just got ejected and didn't get a ban!
  20. Unlucky not to score first half as the Daggers defence looked quite solid and put in some very good blocks on some good opportunities. Rickie perhaps should've scored with his free header late on. Second half very entertaining as we were on top for the most part (apart from the 10 minute spell around their goal) and we actually played some good football on what was a difficult pitch. As I said at half-time: "these are the games we need to win if we're going to win the league" and thank god we did! Davis - 7 - Didn't really have much to do but did come out to claim crosses very well. Dickson - 8 - Looked solid defensively and very threatening overlapping Lallana and putting in good crosses Jaidi - 8 - Dominated in the air as against Huddersfield and seemed to control Bas Savage in the 1st half when we were defending the away end Fonte - 7 - Usual controlled self which is maybe why I only gave him a 7 cos we're so used to seeing him do well Butterfield - 7 - Solid enough although seemed to be over-run down his side during that 10 minute spell of pressure. Did play a fantastic cross-field ball though. Lallana - 10 - Absolutely fantastic for the whole 90 mins. Looked dangerous everytime he got the ball. Great goal as well which he looked genuinely made-up to get. Hammond - 7 - As others have said, game sort of passed by our central midfield but can't remember any real mistakes. Chaplow - 7 - As above for Hammond. Chamberlain - 9 - Looked dangerous as usual but did seem to overdo it with regards to beating the full back at times. (Although that may have been just a good performance from the full-back) Guly - 10 - Fantastic. Best game in a Saints shirt and I'm starting to change my opinion on him now. Looked dangerous, worked hard and even tackled back. Took his goal brilliantly and was very cool. My MOTM in the vote on the coach on the way back (although it was sort of a draw between Guly, Lambert and Lallana) Lambert - 10 - Best game of the season so far from Rick. Thankfully looks like he's starting to get back to his best. Linked up well, won his headers and took his goal sublimely. Overall very good at a difficult place to go to. However I do wonder why Rickie always seems to be out wide putting in crosses rather than in the box getting on the end of the crosses. Maybe explains why he hasn't been scoring as much this season (as well as his lack of form)??
  21. Home - MK in the JPT, Huddersfield (twice), Ipswich in the FA Cup Away - Norwich, Bristol Rovers (twice), MK in the JPT, Sheffield Wednesday
  22. Davis - 7 - a great save at 0-0 but a couple of dodgy moments. distribution better today. Dickson - 8 - didn't rate him after seeing him in the cherries cup game but today thought he was immense. great defensively, great work-rate, some great tackles and brilliant cross for the 2nd. very impressed. Jaidi - 8 - again, don't usually rate him but today he was brilliant. experience told as he bossed their strikers. won everything in the air and was even pretty good on the floor! Fonte - 7 - not one of his better performances at the back but seems to have a habit of scoring recently! think he's scored in each of the last 3 home league games. eventhough he wasnt at his best, a great performance at this level. Richardson - 8 - very impressed. good both defensively and going forward. looks better than butterfield now he's settled in. Lallana - 8 - fantastic work-rate, especially towards the end of that first half. great skill and performance as usual. Hammond - 8 - real captain's performance. pretty much ran the game in midfield. fantastic cross for the 3rd goal. Chaplow - 7.5 - worked well in midfield and took his goal very well but didn't seem to be involved much in the first half. Chamberlain - 6 - one good run at the start but otherwise didn't do much at all. can be excused due to age. rightly subbed. Lambert - 6 - not back to his usual self but getting there. great ball for first goal. Barnard - 8 - worked hard as usual and WHAT A GOAL!!!! best individual goal i've seen at St. Mary's since Connolly's against Norwich last season. don't know why he was taken off. hope it was just a precaution seeing as we were 2-0 up when the sub was planned. Guly - 7 - was good in patches and made some good runs. should've taken more chances. needs to be more consistent and not mess around on the ball and not pass for ages. Holmes - 8 - brilliant, hard-working, quality performance. great cross for the 4th Connolly - 7 - can't really mark cos can't remember him really touching it. MOTM - Richardson/Dickson - can't think of a particular reason but was just impressed with them for 90 mins. Overall - 9 - fantastic stuff, keep it up for tues!
  23. Rory Delap overhead kick v Spurs. 2004? David Connolly v Norwich last season. Rickie Lambert at MK Dons away last season. Michail Antonio at Wembley
