It emphasises that whilst we have a very decent 15, 16 or so who can mix it with the best we struggle when hit with 3 or 4 injuries, especially in key positions where we aren't blessed with quality back-up. The squad is work in progress.
He was on a yellow and probably could have had one earlier too. In the atrocious conditions he could have easily got a second without doing too much wrong. I'm guessing that was at least part of the reason.
As for Gaston....
Personally I'd rather see Yoshida in there but as you say we've got what we've got and whilst they're not up to the required standard they're not going out of their way to let the team down intentionally. Hopefully the glaring deficiencies in our squad will get addressed in the coming weeks.
He was forever slaughtering Lallana in his early years too when anyone who knew even the slightest about football could see he was a cut above the rest and destined for great things.
