TOGETHER AS ONE!! We have been for the last three years, thanks to Nigel Adkins. Truly inspirational man who conducted himself with honour, dignity and humility throughout and totally embodied the Spirit of Southampton. Sadly our chairman doesn't seem to share those qualities. I fear this club has lost a large part of its soul with his departure.

An awful decision, made in way that shows utter disrespect for the fans and Nigel. Remind you of anyone? In the words of Pete Townshend - Meet the new boss: Same as the old boss:
-
Because I've got a few questions for him: - Do you understand the concept of loyalty? - Do you think it demonstrates respect to discuss the playing squad and future development plans with an outsider for several weeks/months before having him replace the current manager, who has been successful in turning around the team's performances? - Which would be your favoured route to success for the club - stability and continuity like ManU or Arsenal, or spend several fortunes like ManC or Chelsea? - Are the Liebherr family aware of the level of fans' (customers') anger at the way in which NA has been summarily dismissed and that you are held in contempt by the majority of the football community? Please feel free to add your own. It would be good to get some of the real fans' opinions across, if he's got the balls to hold one of these and listen...

Great post Turks. I'm frankly too stunned and upset to put my thoughts into words, so thanks for doing it for me.
-
Agree with all these sentiments and feel the same. Suddenly I couldn't give a **** whether we stay up or get relegated.
-
Gutted. Absolutely gutted. In this ridiculous football world I'm seriously thinking of supporting a football manager (wherever he goes) rather than a football team. Seriously think NA was destined to be a top, top manager in the game. Wherever he goes, I hope Nigel finds success and happiness. Cortese? ****ing idiot...

Every time I've tried Handbrake, it seems to take forever - anything from 2-3 hours for a 100-minute DVD. If you've got a lot of DVDs then you can write off a year's socialising. For a simple rip and digitise, I've been using MakeMKV. Generally rips an average-length DVD in about 20 minutes. Doesn't compress though, so you might need a lot of storage (about 2GB/hour), but that's quite cheap these days. Also, get a USB On-The-Go (OTG) cable and download an inexpensive app ($2.50) to allow you to use external USB sticks. There's been a couple of threads on this whole subject before, so worth searching the forum.

Took me a while, but I LOL'd.

Sounds a bit like the path that Punch has been on, but has been mentored by OGS rather than NA.
-
Yeah, yeah, but did you sign him as a left back?
-
Seriously? It's got to be Thorium.

That was you? Another back story: got run down working in temperatures of 120f in the tropics. Doctor in Lagos, Nigeria, cut out 15 abscesses from my back with a blunt scalpel and no anaesthetic. Also had a six inch nail through my foot as a kid, crushed end of middle finger right hand in a gate hinge. Right knee busted up at football (thanks, Neil), scar on left knee (ligs), inch scar left palm from being trapped by 300kg piston, broken nose at football (thanks, Steve) which was later reamed out very painfully. Oh, and a little circular knife scar down below. But there's been no complaints about that.

Not directly Saints , but deserves a bigger audience than general sports: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21006202 Fair play to the guy.

Films you don't expect much from but turn out to be really good . . .

Good call. Source Code is another. -
Just to add - the kindle touch can't be read in the dark without an additional light. There's a good comparison of the kobo glo and kindle paperwhite on youtube. http:// http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=XsN9yuj5TK8&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DXsN9yuj5TK8&gl=GB

The first decision to make is whether you just want a monochrome e-ink reader with a battery that will last for 2-3 weeks, or want a colour device that can do a lot more, but won't last more than a day or two. Kobo Glo reader is another good mono reader and can take an SD card. Still no music though. The Kindle Touch that I bought my wife a year ago does play MP3s, though and has a headphone socket. Unfortunately, this facility is no longer available in the new readers, but refurbished Touch devices are available from Amazon for about £65. If you want colour, with a lot more functionality, then go for the Kindle Fire HD if you really want a reader as the first function. Alternatively, I'd recommend the Nexus 7 tablet, with the Kindle app. Absolutely brilliant (this is typed on one) and very versatile.Unfortunately all colour devices will have much shorter battery life, a few days at most. Have to say though, that the mono e-ink readers are much superior reading screens and are easier on the eyes.

A couple of years ago when every Chelsea fan was drooling over Drogba, Lampard, Terry and co, they signed a young Spanish player called Juan Mata. His immediate impact was unremarkable and in games I saw him play he looked quite ordinary and inconsistent. Now at 24 he's one of their key players. The point I'm trying to make is that they could afford to have lower expectations of him, so he had time to develop his game. Unfortunately, Saints do not have the luxury of a team full of world-class players, so the expectations and pressure on Gaston are much higher.

I am Simon Gillett. Trousers is Spartacus.
-
Elbow and Van Morrison both good shouts. Still nowhere near as bad as Brian Wilson at Glastonbury - just embarrassing for a guy who was a legend. These older performers really should know when to stop and retire gracefully, as all they do is destroy their fans' fond memories.
-
Halsey apparently told Andy Crosby it was for a foul on Punch and the ref played advantage. Must be where Chris Ran got his info. Keeper got the ball first though..
-
Apparently they don't sell very well because they're too glossy for most skates and because they don't flush very well either.
-
Or three wins and two defeats in the last nine league games. But of course there's no story in that. Statistics, statistics... Blah, blah
-
Burley syndrome. Pool fans must be quietly praying...
-
Excellent!!! Well spotted.

Hmmm... Perhaps TB and the HNWs have discovered that the unpaid hero-villains won't compromise any more and are happy to wait for the PPs when they turn out the lights at FP. Now who was representing them again?
