  1. I get the distinct feeling that with things being so quiet, that the new owner is soon going to produce a 'rabbit out of the hat'! I sense it is going to be a good appointment too.
  2. Almost exactly what I was about to say re the right man at the wrong time. I think he could have been excellent (and pioneering) for us and football as a whole, at the right time with different personnel and a different Chairman! RL may have had the foresight to see his potential but lacked the right leadership and personal skills to make it work........to say the least!
  3. Well, for me, I'd start afresh and let the others go if possible. The right new players may well be more motivated I think.....I reckon only John might get a new lease of life with us if we did offer him a new contract under the new manager
  4. Agreed. A very intelligent player and person. Will make a good manager at some point I reckon. I wouldn't bulk at him coming even though untried. As you say, a much better shout than some being mentioned!
  5. Yep, I'm with you all the way on that
  6. Basically, it has been rumoured in a paper that he is being lined up for a return after falling out with Mandaric. The question was then if it WAS him coming back would you say yes or no? Not saying he is the number one favourite but how would we feel if it was him.....
  7. No way....where did THAT come from! :-/
  8. ...but who can blame you? Hopefully, we may get another 4 or 5 players before long! ;-) Things are looking up!
  9. I took it that he was speaking of the senior players we already have, and who did not play yesterday eg Thomas etc plus the guys who have no contract yet..... he would not know who is coming in
  10. Absolutely! A great start......
  11. Brilliant news!!!! Yesssssssss!!!!! Best thing to happen in 5 years Can't wait to get back to football matters and building the squad. Hope we can now hit the ground running.................
  12. Ya beat me to it! :-) This could be great for us if it goes through......
  13. Wotte has acted with dignity and some loyalty it seems, but I do also think we need a really new start and clean break with the past....if we survive going under that is!
  14. Maybe no news now is good news........but on the whole I'm with Ewell. Expecting the worst but will be chuffed if a deal does go through!
  15. I also agree with the OP. It's further points deductions which I think start to nail any club to the floor......kicking them when they are down. There has to be a better way, and that's why the League are apparrently looking to do things differently in the near future
  16. Absolutely! unfortunately......
  17. I haven't a clue what to think anymore, but am not getting any hopes up until any deal is signed.....
  18. Either that or we are desperate!!!!!! Tbf it says he wanted to play in the CCC so......we'll see!
  19. Yes please! But he could get a better job unfortunately........ :-(
  20. Very fair summary I think!
  21. That's now what I'm expecting to come next as well......
  22. There was a later one I think....came to someone in response to an email and posted on another thread From Tony Lynam, 9:31pm 26.06.09 Spencer Thank you for your e-mail, and I will happily answer the questions posed as I fully appreciate that the continued uncertainty causes nothing but concern, least of all for the staff and players at the Club, and of course to the fans. . . . In direct answer to your question, there is a formal relationship between Michael and his colleagues for the purchase, funding and development of Southampton Football Club, which they remain committed to achieving. Let me also make clear that Michael will be the legal owner of the Club, and thus be responsible for the financial arrangements and commitments being made. Without jeopardising a signed confidentiality agreement with my client (the "Consortium"), Michael has committed to the purchase of the Club and only yesterday publicly stated that there will be funds available to rebuild the Club, and the prospects of pushing for promotion in the long term to try regain stability on and off the pitch. . . . Best wishes Tony Lynam Ed: Thanks Rocker, you just beat me to it and obviously posted the full version as well. I hadn't seen that
  23. Agreed. I thought the posts by TL were reassuring to begin with and was very grateful, but the more it has gone on the more I am coming to realise it is not likely to happen and even maybe never was! Just want someone to do the deal, and tell us later. That's what I hoped would happen with Pinnacle. Would still love to be proved wrong, but some things just don't feel right do they?
  24. PS to be fair, I agree with those who are saying if he walked away it wouldn't be for the reasons the Echo are stating. If he is really serious he just needs to do the business, plus he would be secure enough in himself knowing he had the 'goods' to deliver. I agree that the whole scenario smacks of something being very wrong or 'off' right now......
