Leave the FA Cup alone. One replay followed by pens seems to work OK. The League Cup however. Make it an U21 cup with 3 over age players. Or lose it altogether.

This.

You reckon our current form might make the management think about expansion? Apologies, I've had a few and thought it would be interesting to resurrect this old thread.

I seem to remember that what did for that nice Mr Branfoot was Lawrie M being appointed director of football followed shortly by a cup match v Port Vale (1-1). At the end of which the directors box in the West Stand was surrounded by irate supporters giving the directors serious abuse. The message seemed to finally get through and he was gone the following week. There are many ways of getting the message across. Liverpool's seems to have worked now that the board has backed down. There is massive unrest at Charlton at the moment, which has not had much publicity. The chairman is utterly clueless about football. Talks about the value proposition of watching future premier league players before they are sold on! One supporter submitted her resignation as a director to companies house, complete with forged signature. Enterprising, although completely illegal and he will be in serious trouble if caught.

In response to Liverpool walking out at a £77 match-day ticket, how much would Saints have to charge per game for you to walk out? I genuinely don't agree with the "a true fan would pay anything" because £77 is clearly outrageous. But is £40 fair for a match-day ticket? Your thoughts?

Lesson from history. We played 3-5-2/5-3-2 in 1983/84 as it suited the players. Mainly to find a good role for Rueben Agboola. That was some team. It's similar now. 3-5-2 seems to work. Targett is much better as a wing back in a 5 than a left back in a 4. So keep it as is. Players seem comfortable with it

Agreed. Recently watched a Cambridge United game in L2 and a couple of tackles (especially the ones where you could hear the crunch) made you think "ouch". Still only yellow cards though
-
I love the way that he doesn't complain getting a red and walks off. If that was nowadays, the red card would be brandished and all hell would break loose.

Can we PAY Arsenal/Tottenham to take Wanyama away from us?
kwsaint replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
Manyama's tackle looked borderline yellow /red - could easily have got either - but it was a stupid tackle. Given that it is his third red card this season, all for similar tackles, he clearly doesn't learn. I was at the other two - we could have held on with 9 players against Bournemouth - they were never going to score, but he cost us three points at Norwich as we were well on top when he was sent off. On form he is brilliant, but we haven't seen too many of those this season. I think that he will go in the summer. Agree about Byram on Bertrand. That should also have been a red card. -
Thought Long's work rate was v good. As was VvD. Need to watch a replay of the Wanyama sending off before reserving judgement.

Would still say Kelvin for me due to the number of one on one saves. Not taking anything away from Fraser's performance tonight though.

[video=youtube;UoUOD-h6N6w] although we went down, one of the most euphoric goals i've experienced as a saints fan

Agreed. Particularly enjoyed the clips from the Man U game in 1974. Had forgotten that Osgood had hit the bar. All I remember is the gate being closed just after 2pm and there being thousands of united supporters in the Dell. Result didn't do either team any good as both were relegated.

Well it was only because of uni that I decided to go. There was definitely an occasion when the ball was kicked onto Newmarket Road and didn't seem to return. I agree though, to watch a game and think "I don't really care what the result is" is a refreshing feeling.

What is winning? What is a football match? What is time? Only when we know the answers to these questions can we arrive at a well founded conclusion.

Bit harsh. Suggest that you watch the you tube video. Leeds v Saints in the Championship season. Unbelievable performance that day. Agree that he struggled a bit in the Premier League recently and the less said about his performance v Leicester the better. But a great servant to the club, stuck around after relegation, made a huge contribution to the promotion seasons and a top bloke. Well deserved testimonial. Hope to be there.

Oscar Gobern for the tackle? Richard Chaplow? Steve de Ridder?

I've started going to see Cambridge United play which was a right laugh. Was just wondering what other clubs people watch due to it not being possible to travel to see Saints or on the days when Saints are away.

Put it this way, I want Bournemouth to stay up, do well in the PL and would happily watch them with a probable bias towards wanting them to win (unless it was against us). I want Portsmouth to be carpet bombed with Trident.

Wins at Old Trafford like London buses. None for ages then two come along at once. We all remember the 4-1 win at Old Trafford in 1969 when Big Ron scored all four, but I had forgotten that we won there the previous year when Man U were European champions. On checking it turns out that we did the double over them in 1968-69. Our record against Man U is actually not that great but we beat them three times in a row in the late sixties.

Maybe not the most expensive, but Delgado must have been the biggest mistake. The hype was ridiculous and he really couldn't be bothered. At least Ramirez seemed to try. Happy memories of WGS when asked about Delgado, replying that he had a yoghurt about to expire and that was a bigger worry. About 40 seconds in.

Went last year and it was great. Can't go this year, sadly. We parked in Altrincham, and then got the tram from Altrincham to Stretford. 10 min walk to ground and easy to get back. Found a friendly pub in Altrincham high street that served all day breakfasts. Result
