  1. Would be surprised and a bit disappointed if we didnt bring anyone else in. We need one more attacking player to at least cover for Lallana / Ramirez (who've both missed a few - Lallana obviously out longer term, but hopefully nearly back in team), and Puncheon. Am not convinced that Rodriguez as the other option to Lambert is that great - hopefully as said above though, Lee and Mayuka might be a bit more effective / utilised. Injuries to any of Lambert, Ramirez, Puncheon or Clyne and we're looking pretty dodgy. Hope Guly's not out too long, good to have a player who can cover so many positions.
  2. Would've thought he would be on the bench tomorrow with Guly out and Lallana not quite back, along with Mayuka away. Shame with the injuries, lets see what happens. Think he'll probably be a better option than some of the other fringe players.
  3. Cant believe Remy has chosen QPR over Newcastle, after already saying he didnt want to sign for them, and just because of money. Says a lot about the character and the club - wanting to sign players for 80k a week (along with the probably massive salaries for Park, Cisse, Granero etc) when they only get 18k to their home matches. Dont expect the ever so reliable team player and all round nice guy Cisse is too happy either. If they sign M'Vila too, surely their wage bill will be enormous?! Just comparitively, how much is Ramirez on?
  4. Here's one from the Sun... Newcastle United and Southampton are both keen to sign French midfielder William Vainqueur from Standard Liege.
  5. Would be a massive surprise - quite old(?) and been out injured most of the season.
  6. Exactly. If he's cheap and deemed a hot prospect, could be a good investment, if it doesnt stop us from strengthening for the now too. Worth looking at some of the youngsters Liverpool have started playing this season - all look pretty handy, and were brought in over the past few years for fairly small outlays.
  7. Hope our Sky curse doesnt ruin us again. We must still have one of the worst records in the UK for Sky appearances? There was some stat going round last season, and cant really have been improved this season so far! Got a feeling Gazza will start if the club are annoyed with Boruc for telling the boo boys to shut up. Hope all's good with Boruc as reckon he'll be great once settled, but like Gazza too, who hopefully wont turn out like Bart as second choice for eternity. If Ramirez and Lambert start, we'll win (hopefully)!
  8. Nobody pick up on this? Quite interesting - think he could be good if he stays fit. Big IF! Can he pass out to the defence without passing straight to an opposing player?!
  9. He's mates with Cork (or so would seem from the Team GB photos etc). He's actually a fairly decent player, and seeing as we have very little cover for the left side of the team in both midfield and defence, might be a decent shout. Agree we should be trying to get people significantly better than those we already have, but am pretty sure he's a step up from Harding.
  10. Would be very impressed with this, but wont be holding my breath. Good player.
  11. Massimo Maccarone - highly doubtful, but doing the rounds on Twitter. Dont think HCDAJFU.
  12. Tim Sparv or Cedric Baseya. Thought both were bright prospects and looked good in reserve games. Neither of them got much of a look in for the first team.
  13. Puncheon clearly is well out of favour again. Had a couple of matches where he looked lively before being subbed and hasnt even made the bench recently. Expect Guly or De Ridder on Sat.
  14. Bad stuff. Butterfield was awful, as was Fonte - every time he got the ball and didnt get rid of it straight away I felt he might fall over or pass it to one of their players. Far too narrow in the first half. Couple of dodgy offside decisions against us which would've led to good opportunities and match could've been different, but not really good enough. Where's Puncheon? He's looked at least half ok a few matches he's played this season, and at least has a bit of pace and wants to get forward! Too many sideways passes - even 3-0 down at 80 mins defenders were just passing across each other until one of them just smacked it up to no one...
  15. Yes, but Lee looks quick, enthusiast and with movement, as well as being fairly young. Connolly started the season well, and although seems to be a lot fitter in terms of less injuries, has been totally anonymous as well as pretty wasteful in quite a few games recently. That's why i'd put Lee above him now. I understand he's unproven, but he's showing good signs.
  16. You do realise I meant Tadanari Lee?! For me it's Lambert, Sharp, Guly, Lee, Connolly, Barnard, desperation. Even have De Ridder in before last couple, although prefer him on the wing. I expect next season Connolly and Barnard will be gone.
  17. Hopefully Connolly wont make the squad for the rest of the season - has been terrible for a good few games now and well off it. He should be 5th choice now really behind Lambert, Sharp, Guly and Lee. That said, he'll likely start or at least be on the bench. Need a win here to get some confidence back and push on to stay in the promotion race for the rest of the year. Another home defeat and I can see us falling away. I have faith though!
  18. Millwall were awful on Saturday - if they play anything like that, it wont matter what team we put out!
  19. Will be very concerned if we dont get a centre back in! Yes, been a great window, but centre back is most needed - imagine if Martin got injured tonight or Fonte tweaked something?
  20. Good news. Give us a much needed boost, along with the return of Lambert from suspension. Options! Wow!
  21. Pretty depressing reading! Harding and Connolly were absolutely hopeless. Passing back to the keeper only puts more pressure on us, and Davis didnt look comfortable with that tactic either. Guly was under too much pressure too often, we needed more width desperately, which we didnt get at all. Thought Fox actually played pretty well, and Hooiveld until he went off (hope he's not out for long)!
  22. Wow, everyone blaming Guly?! What about Connolly? Has done nothing and that shot counts more as a miss than a save clear through on goal like that. Weak. Harding and Martin are looking pretty (very) dodgy down the right side of defense.
  23. Guly had a knock and Connolly presumably wasnt risked?
  24. Personally i'm not a fan of Forte, as he doesnt seem to have much skill, ability to hold up the ball or be particularly creative. Yes, De Ridder is pretty raw, and has a tendency to make poor decisions, but his skill is fairly obvious, he just looks a bit rushed on the ball sometimes, probably due to not being settled in the team and usually being used as an impact player to inject some pace and directness into the team near the end. I'd pick De Ridder over Forte every time, but would say both are decent options from the bench as at the moment we suffer from a bit of a lack of pace.
  25. He was rubbish in the second half. He was easily our most and possibly only dangerous player in the first half. He made Clyne, Ambrose and Ramage look like fools on quite a few occasions - wasnt his fault that after beating players and getting in good positions Forte and Reeves didnt know where to run!
