Nobody pick up on this? Quite interesting - think he could be good if he stays fit. Big IF! Can he pass out to the defence without passing straight to an opposing player?!
-
He's mates with Cork (or so would seem from the Team GB photos etc). He's actually a fairly decent player, and seeing as we have very little cover for the left side of the team in both midfield and defence, might be a decent shout. Agree we should be trying to get people significantly better than those we already have, but am pretty sure he's a step up from Harding.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
disconnect replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
Massimo Maccarone - highly doubtful, but doing the rounds on Twitter. Dont think HCDAJFU. -
Puncheon clearly is well out of favour again. Had a couple of matches where he looked lively before being subbed and hasnt even made the bench recently. Expect Guly or De Ridder on Sat.
-
Bad stuff. Butterfield was awful, as was Fonte - every time he got the ball and didnt get rid of it straight away I felt he might fall over or pass it to one of their players. Far too narrow in the first half. Couple of dodgy offside decisions against us which would've led to good opportunities and match could've been different, but not really good enough. Where's Puncheon? He's looked at least half ok a few matches he's played this season, and at least has a bit of pace and wants to get forward! Too many sideways passes - even 3-0 down at 80 mins defenders were just passing across each other until one of them just smacked it up to no one...

Yes, but Lee looks quick, enthusiast and with movement, as well as being fairly young. Connolly started the season well, and although seems to be a lot fitter in terms of less injuries, has been totally anonymous as well as pretty wasteful in quite a few games recently. That's why i'd put Lee above him now. I understand he's unproven, but he's showing good signs.
-
You do realise I meant Tadanari Lee?! For me it's Lambert, Sharp, Guly, Lee, Connolly, Barnard, desperation. Even have De Ridder in before last couple, although prefer him on the wing. I expect next season Connolly and Barnard will be gone.
-
Hopefully Connolly wont make the squad for the rest of the season - has been terrible for a good few games now and well off it. He should be 5th choice now really behind Lambert, Sharp, Guly and Lee. That said, he'll likely start or at least be on the bench. Need a win here to get some confidence back and push on to stay in the promotion race for the rest of the year. Another home defeat and I can see us falling away. I have faith though!

Millwall were awful on Saturday - if they play anything like that, it wont matter what team we put out!
-
Will be very concerned if we dont get a centre back in! Yes, been a great window, but centre back is most needed - imagine if Martin got injured tonight or Fonte tweaked something?
-
Good news. Give us a much needed boost, along with the return of Lambert from suspension. Options! Wow!
-
Pretty depressing reading! Harding and Connolly were absolutely hopeless. Passing back to the keeper only puts more pressure on us, and Davis didnt look comfortable with that tactic either. Guly was under too much pressure too often, we needed more width desperately, which we didnt get at all. Thought Fox actually played pretty well, and Hooiveld until he went off (hope he's not out for long)!
-
Wow, everyone blaming Guly?! What about Connolly? Has done nothing and that shot counts more as a miss than a save clear through on goal like that. Weak. Harding and Martin are looking pretty (very) dodgy down the right side of defense.
-
Guly had a knock and Connolly presumably wasnt risked?
-
Personally i'm not a fan of Forte, as he doesnt seem to have much skill, ability to hold up the ball or be particularly creative. Yes, De Ridder is pretty raw, and has a tendency to make poor decisions, but his skill is fairly obvious, he just looks a bit rushed on the ball sometimes, probably due to not being settled in the team and usually being used as an impact player to inject some pace and directness into the team near the end. I'd pick De Ridder over Forte every time, but would say both are decent options from the bench as at the moment we suffer from a bit of a lack of pace.

Palace 2 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction Thread
disconnect replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
He was rubbish in the second half. He was easily our most and possibly only dangerous player in the first half. He made Clyne, Ambrose and Ramage look like fools on quite a few occasions - wasnt his fault that after beating players and getting in good positions Forte and Reeves didnt know where to run! -
Palace 2 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction Thread

Scoreline definitely flattered Palac, as Saints dominated possession for a lot of the match. De Ridder was awesome in the first half, looked pretty tired and not up for it second half (saving himself?). Seemed Saints were scared to shoot - why do we need to pass at least 4 times in and around the box instead of someone just trying one? We got in plenty of good positions and just laid it off to the next player - reminded me of our style when we got relegated from the Championship a few years back. Best players tonight were De Ridder (first half), Martin (very solid), Morgan (very cool and great passing), and Ward Prowse played well too. Holmes was also good first half but faded a bit. Both full backs did ok, Butterfield whipped in a few dangerous balls and Harding had some good link up play on the left but gave away a soft penalty (from what I could see). Reeves was ok - didnt want to shoot (which probably isnt great for someone up front). Forte was pretty poor - but I dont think he got any decisions from the ref which didnt help. Bart didnt have much to do, but couldnt stop the penalty and their other goal was quite soft. Palace were about 4 changes away from their usual Championship team. Only Clyne looked any better than our team and although he scored, we continually took the **** out of Ambrose, supposedly one of the better players in the division. Overall, i'd say we were definitely worth something from the game, just need someone willing to have a shot...! -
Yep, a Palace supporting mate told me their not expecting many changes tonight, but might give 2 or 3 of Murray / Scannell / Ambrose / Zaha a rest. A few of their younger players (Williams, O Keefe) are actually better than a few of their more experienced players anyway, so could be a tough one. Hoping that Reeves and Ward-Prowse impress and looking forward to my first away match in a few years.
-
I bought my tickets today on general sale. Should be a good one! Palace have got a decent young team - some good players like Zaha, Clyne, Williams. Will be interesting to see what team we put out and how we perform against a team with quite a lot of pace in midfield / attack.
-
Nathaniel Clyne. He's injured too at the moment.
-
First time in ages we havent had someone smashing in goals from all over in these reserve / under 21 matches. Where's McGoaldrought when you need him?
-
Andrew Davis playing as a trialist for palace tonight!
disconnect replied to jimbojones10's topic in The Saints
Palace supporting mate said both Davies and the other trialist who replaced him both looked really good. I told him he'd likely be great for a few games but not to rely on him to stay fit... -
That Norwegian guy recommended by Claus? Or did that rumour die?
