I have my heart set on Howe never being Saints manager. isn't there one place further along the coast that is surely his spiritual home?

Zaha is a classic West Ham signing

I really wanted Elyounoussi to be a success. But the first time I saw him was in the 3-0 defeat at Derby. And if a player like him cannot do it in a half-pace friendly game when the tackles are not flying in it doesn't inspire confidence for the Premier League. I agree he hasn't had many chances. But when he was given a go he showed absolutely nothing to suggest he should be given more time. And if the Lemina who wants to play like he did at the Hawthorns was to come back I would welcome him with open arms. But we all know we would just get the Lemina of Newcastle and Wembley.

Although in their first year in the Premier League Portsmouth had a blue away kit

I agree with what you say. But there is one factor we can offer which is that we are a well proven route for players to get established in the Premier League and to then get moves to the bigger clubs they really want to play for. You can say the same for Leicester - Kante and Mahrez for example. But for players who want a stepping stone we surely rank as at least equal with other clubs.

I really don't understand why any club is reluctant to invest decent money in a keeper because its one area of the team where you can make a major difference with just one sogning. Look at how Villa have improved with a new keeper. Brian Clough used to say that Shilton was worth 10 points a season. That was when it was only 2 points for a win so more like 15 points nowadays. With a really good keeper we could possibly get away with our current central defence.

I think it would be worth a bet on 3-0 with Antonio and Noble scoring

Think Villa at home should get an award for the game most influenced by incorrect VAR decisions. Not only the penalty not given, Romeu's goal disallowed for a foul on a keeper he never touched and the late equaliser given offside
-
It shows that had we bothered to turn up for the semi final losing the final was not inevitable

Great example of VAR lunacy in Burnley v Leeds game. Ref awards Leeds a a corner then there is a VAR check for a penalty. It shows no pen but also clearly a goal kick. However, because VAR cannot adjudicate on corners, the corner given in error stands.

Have very fond memories of Bertrand as he came in when we were at a low ebb after all the departures in summer 2014, helped steady the ship and played a vital part in one of our best ever teams. For a number of years felt he was our best English leftback and will never forgive Southgate for not taking him to the World Cup. No doubt he looks at the trophies that the average Walker has won at Manchester City and thinks he could have had the same at the right club. Seven years is a long time for a player of his quality to stay at a team like Saints and he owes us nothing. Just feels like the relationship had run its course. He will move on, maybe even to Chelsea, make more money and possibly add to his Champions League medal.

yes worked at last

Yes I can't get through either. But after them hanging me up several times I have got the on hold music
-
If we have a yellow and blue away kit then we have no need of a third kit unless we play Bradford and not really even then as last two times we played them away we used our home kit
-
Was in favour when he joined, but has had too many poor games. Feel there are better, older and experienced players we could get in on a free for the same wages

We never had a shirt badge before 1974 so the design set the tradition rather than changing it. Ok there was a club crest, as reproduced in my Esso collection of club badges. But it was really used on a limited basis so not familiar to the world at large. If we really had to change I would welcome the use of the Southampton City badge, but that no doubt would be regarded as too fancy. What we will most likely get is some stylised SFC in the same way that Juventus have ruined their badge
-
very, very few modernizations of club badges have been improvements. Most are hideous. Leave well alone

I can't forgive Branfoot many things. But must let him off the Ian Wright hat-trick. That was down to absolutely corrupt refereeing by an official determined for Wright to reach 30 goals. Tony Adams got a yellow card and then continued to brutalize Shearer and MLT safe in the knowledge that the referee would not show a second yellow. With an unbiased official it would have been a draw.

yes it was worn at Luton. Had forgotten that as at the time away fans weren't allowed at Kenilworth Road. And it was also worn at Sheffield Wednesday
-
Notice that the nasty thug Fleck was at it again yesterday with a stamp on Lo Celso. And again doesn't get a red card. If he had been punished properly for his assault on Adams he might have learnt a lesson.
-
Totally agree. All these annoy me as well. I would also add "appeal for anything" = yellow card. It really annoys me when players put the ball in to touch and then appeal for a throw. Also "walk away when the ref is trying to talk to you" = red card. But I would also add that the assistants should be trained as to when the ball is out of play. The ball has to go some way to be fully out but they tend to flag when it is only half out.

I can't see how it would be fair to punish United. They clearly wanted the game to be played. The decision not to play was taken out of their hands. This was completely different to when Bryan Robson decided he was so big and important that he could take the decision to postpone a Middlesbrough game and they rightly had points deducted. What I am surprised about is that they didn't just decide to play the game today. It could have been a lunchtime kick-off.

I was just 16. What I remember most is how green the Wembley grass looked as I got my first glimpse when we come of of the tunnel into the stands. And how loud the crowd was. My ears were still ringing all the way as we drove back down the M3. I don't think I have ever experienced noise like it at a game since
-
Whatever anyone thinks of Vestergaard, not appealing the red card will just reinforce the opinion of officials that we are a team they can continue to abuse

Has the ability to be Pogba. But no inclination to work for it. Will go to West Ham and look a world beater. We'll regret ever letting him go. Then he will disappear and end up in the MLS
